The Chargers have announced they have signed Joey Bosa to a four-year contract.

Around the NFL will have more on this developing story.

Hmmm . . . . . . wonder who blinked first . . . .

Yeah. Loser.

With language and deferred bonus?

The Franchise 08-29-2016 01:03 PM

Chargers signed No. 3 overall pick DE Joey Bosa to a four-year, $26 million contract.

The deal includes a $17 million signing bonus. The question is, when will it be payed out. The sides had been battling over a deferment, as well as offset language. It's unclear who blinked, but it was likely both sides. Bosa now has only 13 days to get ready for Week 1 after skipping the entire offseason program. He's supposedly been working out "like a madman" on his own. Bosa could be on an early snap count, but he's an elite 21-year-old athlete. At least physically, it won't take him long to get up to speed.

ThaVirus 08-29-2016 01:05 PM

So does he play week 1?

Do we want him to?

O.city 08-29-2016 01:07 PM

Of course he did, they always sign

R Clark 08-29-2016 01:08 PM

No way he's ready week one

Typically when a holdout says he has been "working out like a madman" or 'best shape of their life" they come in fat and soft. I don't see Joey Bagofdoughnuts Bosa- being a factor in week one.

Probably pop an Achilles in the first practice.

He'll probably be in some packages for week 1.

Limited snaps i'd imagine. And i doubt it matters if he plays or not. He's not going to be much of a contributor and their front 7 is dookie anyway.

Halfcan 08-29-2016 01:22 PM

Ozzy approves of this.

I think Mebane will help the front 7.

Charger 0-1

:)

vailpass 08-29-2016 01:25 PM

I wonder if the kid woke up and realized he was actually considering walking away from a multi-million dollar pay day, broke out in cold sweat, then told his agent to get the deal done today or he'd find someone who would.

Not enough. There's no game changers in that front 7. Athletically, their whole roster is meh.

Bosa Nova?

Buehler445 08-29-2016 07:01 PM

Aren't first rounders given 5 year contracts? Am I missing something?

R Clark 08-29-2016 07:03 PM

It was about the guaranteed money I think

I think it's 4 years with the club given the option to pick up the 5th.

That's what I was thinking but I thought most of them were reported as 5 year deals. I'm probably misremembering. Thanks.

They were talking about this on NFL Radio this afternoon -- basically said that unless Jonathan Ogden has been schooling him every day he's just going to show up with muscles but no real idea how fast the game is going to move or any of the basic moves you need to learn over training camp and pre-season to have a prayer in the trenches.

They said he'll do what all fast rookie linemen do -- he'll wash out of almost every play he's allowed to participate in. They were super negative on him participating in any helpful way for the first quarter of the season.

Totally this. He's not going to miss all of camp and pre season(I guess he can play this week against dudes who will be working at Denny's next month)and show up week 1 against NFL starters. Shit, I hope he does, it'll be 11 v 10 every time in our favor.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-30-2016 09:25 AM

He could still get a sack or two on Denvers line and terrible QBs

Come on now-Bosa has been doing like 100 jumping jacks a day along with cardio during his "Sweatin' to the Oldies" tape.

He has been pumping iron like Arnold and is meaner than Chuck Norris.

Bosa is going to do some Van Dammage when he comes to Arrowhead.

We are doomed! :deevee:

Charges wanted offset language on the 5th year and deferral of part of his signing bonus.

Beef Supreme 08-30-2016 02:53 PM

I bet his teammates already love him.

Quesadilla Joe 04-18-2017 05:42 PM

Joey Bosa still absent as Chargers begin Phase Two
Spoiler!

It wouldn't surprise me if Bosa demands to be traded in the next couple years.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-18-2017 05:50 PM

You would be sucking him off saying he doesn't need practice if he played in Pile High

staylor26 04-18-2017 05:51 PM

That's strange

Gadzooks 04-18-2017 10:17 PM

Who gives a shit? Their top 2 QBs aren't there either. They're "voluntary".

POND_OF_RED 04-19-2017 12:55 AM

Guy went from playing in front of 100,000 home fans in college to a stadium that holds 30,000 and around half of them will be opposing team fans. Gotta be a weird feeling.

Your best players should want to be there. Especially when you have a new HC.
