<A href="http://www.pcgamer.com/civilization-6-everything-you-need-to-know/"> Some details and a few screenshots from PC Gamer</A> Keeping the one unit per tile rule but amending it to allow "support" units to attach. Finally. Cities now have districts. AI stuff. I just want to know how moddable it is. |
|
<--- this guy is interested
|
This should have been the case with Civ 5.

The ability to mod more easily is a definite plus for me. It can help to be able to counter some of the mistakes of the original (whatever those perceived mistakes may be).
|
Brave New World is all I play right now.
I must say that the graphics are not inspiring to me. Feels like Civ is going from realistic art to cartoonish art. Reminds me of the Civ mobile game. |
So excited
|
Are tanks still going to be losing to cavalry in combat?
jk jk i <3 Civ |

Reading up on this I stumbled upon a meme I had forgotten about. God bless Nuclear Ghandi.

Some first looks at some Civs:
Japan <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZHgVlRdO72U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> England <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/FkIT6iMeYjE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> America <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9vVGQThK01M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Egypt <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/0YFh38ImZ58" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
I dont know if everyone has noticed, but they went to much lower poly models. im guessing to help with performance, but I prefer the more detailed models of 4 and 5.
Doesnt mean the game wont be good or anything, just a little thing i noticed. |

Custom Civs??

Some new information gleaned from the latest video:
Scandinavia (Kalmar Union) will be a Civ under Margaret I so no separate Sweden & Denmark Civs. Poland-Lithuanian Commonwealth will be in the base game under Jadwiga. Seems like the rumors of multiple leaders are true as Spain looks like it has Felipe II and Isabella of Portugal. The new Civs are: Kongo and Scythians. No confirmation of: Persia, Ottomons, or Inca yet. |
Why would they make Spain and Portugal allied with one another?

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but has anyone seen Planet Coaster?
Bad ass. |
I just saved and quit CIV III.
I'm still addicted to that game. Still haven't beaten it on CONQUEST mode on the hardest difficulty and it's probably 15 years old... |

I never could warm to Civ V. Still playing a heavily modded Civ IV every day. VI may be the first one I do not buy, and I have been playing since the original.
Still think the best out of the box was the original Alpha Centuri. Sent from my Enigma Device |

China video:

Aztec, preorder bonus or unlocked 90 days after launch:

That looks cartoonishly shitty.

I guess they are using the Farmville engine.
|
First look at France:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/eINr4EqAkSc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> The chateau is back. |
Quick look at Brazil:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_Oh2HzwZxOc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Looks like they took Sweden's place as the Great Person generation civ. |
Two war mongers revealed:
Germany <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/RgvfU-1ycUs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Scythia <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3PfDkGcSNE0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
So the full roster got leaked:
America - Teddy Roosevelt Arabia - Saladin Aztecs - Montezuma I Brazil - Dom Pedro II China - Qin Shi Huang Egypt - Cleopatra England - Victoria France - Catherine de Medici Germany - Frederick I Barbarossa Greece - Pericles Greece - Gorgo India - Gandhi Japan - Hojo Tokimune Kongo - Mvemba Nzinga (Afonso I) Norway - Harald Hardrada Rome - Trajan Russia - Peter the Great Scythia - Tomirys Spain - Philip II Sumer - Gilgamesh DLC: Poland - Jadwiga Spain - Isabella (of Castile or Portugal is unknown) It pretty much looks like multiple leaders like Civ IV with Greece coming in base game with two. |

Seems like its way down.. might just be me though. |

First religious civ revealed, Spain.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c8U0LD5tfNw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
India first look.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/9WpxiLsGj9I" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Sort of like Indonesia from BNW. |
Time to go a viking with Party Hard Rod (turn on CC for the video)
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/onb-hdjuNbU" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Kongo was also revealed last Friday, seems like a very powerful great person civ: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hvtvjo3fPsQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Greece first look, Pericles only:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VSCTlpEM9Vw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Looks like it will be the beginners civ |
Rome looks to play wide and generate a ton of cash:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/8Deqrw_Is3Y" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Sumeria looks to be another early game war monger who benefits his allies. Gilgamesh also looks pretty buff:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ff0gQJRy1Jw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
The game seems too bloated.

Gods and Kings and Brave New World MADE Civ V. It was pretty shit before those, TBH. Totally unbalanced, lots of flaws, boring gameplay. The expansions added a lot of dynamics that made the game fun, and gave you a lot of different options for victory.
|
Arabia first look:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/S-Jpe5NID60" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Only Russia is left for base game. |
In Civ 6, Russia wants all the land.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CipmUDMi7PE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> That is it for base game. |
I watched Totalbiscuit play this for an hour or so the other day.
Seems like a lot more micromanagement of cities etc, which im not sure if I like. |
Greece under Gorgo:
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/syS-SFtr-44" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> A couple of things to note: -Gorgo has a different capital. -Gorgo has different colors. -The Hoplite model is slightly different. Something not revealed in the video: -Greece under Gorgo and Greece under Pericles can be in the same game. |
So one of my favorite games of all time is Rise of Nations.
How does the CIV games compare? I tried one of them out once, but found it really complicated (albeit, I was on a plane at the time!). Loved Rise of Nations - and if CIV is anything comparable, or better, I'll bite (just wondering about the learning curve) |
Civ VI looks to be much more complex then Civ V since they unpacked the cities onto the map. So, it is hard to tell without the game in hand yet.
|
It's out. I have it downloaded and started it up for a few minutes this morning.
Anyone getting to play today? I'll have to wait till later tonight. |

Turn based versus real time is the obvious difference, but if you enjoy growing a civilization through the ages, I would suggest giving the civilization series a try. If you don't want to drop 60 on the new game, civ 5 with all dlc can be had for pretty cheap now and then on steam. |
<A href="http://www.pcgamer.com/civilization-6-review/">PC Gamer: 93 Percent. My favorite part of the review:
"But there are so many of these new features that it could feel overwhelming at times. The depth and variety of systems resembles a Civ game that’s already had two or three expansions added on top"</A> |
The map can go to hell and die. I hate it. I like everything else. But there's not enough difference between the undiscovered and discovered map portions.
|
Anyone played it yet? I'm a Mac user ATM, so I'll have to wait until November/Decemberish.
|
Playing it now. The map is really my only qualm.
|
Barbarians are much harder in this version. Seems like the camps pump them out every three turns if they know where your city is.
I do agree that the fog of war and unexplored need to be different colors than one just being a lighter shade of brown than the other. Makes it hard to figure out with just a glance. AI seems somewhat better but I had Cleo declare war on me a turn after we met for some reason. Considering I have been playing with Pericles, I haven't actually fought Frederick yet even though I am been on the same continent. |

been watching some streams of this. looks like more of the same, in a good way. However, not gonna pay full price.
|
Just bought it tonight, played for about an hour. Its good, i like it. However, there is a lot that needs to be fixed. It feels super slow, the AI needs reworked, you can't use a battering ram against cities unless they have a wall built. thats just my first thoughts from minimal play.

My first completed game was around 8 hours on quick
|
Research rates compared to building times needs addressed.
My first marathon game on King has me in the Renaissance age around 200 b.c., but building anything takes forever. 60 turns for harbor district but 20 turns a tech.... seems off. And I'm not even focusing on science... or at least not intentionally. |
Quote:
i don't know.. didn't have that issue myself. I had a shit ton of science so most techs took like 4-8 turns and most buildings took 8-9 turns besides wonders of course. Even wonders were only taking 30ish turns. |
Yeah, production is the new king of the resources. Probably need to nerf the science and culture gain and buff the production a bit.
|
So after playing about 150 hours there are a couple OP civs and one that needs major help.
Germany and Sumeria are certainly OP. Sumeria's War Carts are the best unique in the game and can roll just about anything till Pikeman come along. Germany gets a unique for the best district in the game and it gets bonus production from the 2nd best district in the game. Once the Hansa get online Germany can steamroll into any victory type. Scythia and Rome are also pretty powerful as well. Norway is by far the weakest civ as the berserker is costly and simply can not stand against Archers/Crossbow. The naval pillaging mechanic doesn't work as their is very little reason to settle on the coast as the game currently stands. |
