Candylicious: Round 1, Heats 33 through 36
Here are the rules. This will be a head to head tournament. For efficiency's sake, I will run four heats in each thread.
Therefore, I will put up four pairs of candies. For each pair, you will identify the candy that you would most like to have at the moment of voting. It doesn't necessarily have to be your favorite candy overall, just the one that sounds good right now. For visualization purposes, you may assume that you're out trick or treating (dressed as a gladiator), and the woman at the door is offering you your choice of two options. You can only pick one, or if you would turn them both down, you can pick zero (not to be confused with the Zero bar). So to summarize, you will vote for four candies in each thread, one candy per heat. And here they are! Heat 33: Almond Roca versus Mike and Ike, Regular Flavor http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...sL._SY355_.jpg https://www.ohnuts.com/noapp/showIma.../IMG_69311.jpg Heat 34: Rock Candy Crystals versus Valomilk http://i.imgur.com/hOkKwkF.jpg http://www.licoricelemondrops.com/im...arge_image.jpg Heat 35: Andes Mints versus Ocho Coconut Bar http://www.couponclipinista.com/wp-c...00_.jpg?a18fca http://cdn.naturalcandystore.com/ima...dy-bar-500.gif Heat 36: Root Beer Barrels versus M&Ms Crispy http://www.candywarehouse.com/assets...-132656-im.jpg https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/i...XwL-kFVGBAEcVg |
I haven't tried any but 3 of these things
|
My votes:
Almond Roca over Mike and Ikes. I'm not a huge fan of Almond Roca, but Mike and Ikes creep me out. They look like you're overdosing on your grandmother's heart medication. Valomilk over Rock Candy Crystals. I have no idea what Valomilk is, but it's got to be better than rock candy. When I see rock candy, I always envision myself eating salt crystals. Andes Mints over Ocho Coconut Bar. I've never had an Ocho, but it looks delicious. I have to go with my favorite after dinner mint, though. Andes mints rock. But I think the Ocho is probably the second-best candy in this heat. It just drew the wrong opponent. M&Ms Crispy over Root Beer Barrels. I'm not a huge fan of MMC's, but I can't imagine myself eating a root beer barrel. They just seem gross. |
I'm about to piss FMB! off, but I had a valomilk the other day, and that shit was mediocre as ****. Still better than Rock candy, though.
Rock candy was nominated by Srvy (unbelievable, right?), and it's only because he used to eat it in his childhood before real candy existed. |
Aside from Andes, the rest are garbage.

I imagine the root beer barrel unwrapped and sitting in the bottom of your aunt's purse for a couple of years gathering lint and bits of used tissue. Then if you mashed this up with the Andes bar it would actually make the Andes mint seem more appealing.
|
Never seen an Ocho ,I don't think I have?
|
Never ain't had no valomilk
|
Ain't had no root beer barrels
|
Voted:
Almond Roca. Almonds, chocolate, and butter toffee. What is not to like? Valomilk. Rock candy is just sugar and not even sugar in a fun way like Cotton Candy. Andes Mints. I like mint. Andes mints are like Thin Mints in candy form. M&Ms Crispy. A well made root beer is a great soda (which should be the next tournament) but the root beer barrel candy is usually not patterned off a well made root beer. |
That Ocho does not look delicious. That Almond Rocha does, though. Where can I find those?

Same. We're back on track. |

You ate it wrong. Do not disparage Valomilk. |
Mike and Ike is good, miss the CherryNBubb version. Must go with the Big Rock Candy Mountain and Andes Mints as well. Last one is tough, so many MandM versions, so i'm going with the Root Beer Barrels.
|
How in the hell is pure sugar beating chocolate and liquid marshmallow?!?!
|
Even if I didn't like root beer barrels, I'd still vote for them over crispy m&m's. I love root beer barrels though, and I also like the fact that they remind me of old times, and stories of old times from before I was born.

And though I don't eat sweets or candy anymore I will occasionally bend for one of those I haven't had since I was a kid. |

I think it's funny in the new Pee Wee Herman movie, "Pee Wee's Big Holiday" how part of Pee Wee and Joe Mangieniello's bond is root beer barrels being their favorite candy...and they eat them by sticking a straw in them and "drinking" them, I guess. Ah...funny movie. My kids love it. Better than "Pee Wee's Big Adventure."
|
I feel bad for the Ocho Bar. It's taking a beating that it doesn't deserve. And meanwhile, rock candy is winning its heat. Rock candy. Think about it.

That's some goddamn bullshit. |
Every time I think about Rock Candy, I think of Ronnie Montrose and Sammy Hagar.
Every time. All the time. Dinny |

Just look at this, people. You'd rather have rock candy than sweet, flowy marshmallow and milk chocolate?

Root beer barrels also seem like a choking hazard. Are you even allowed to buy them if you have a kid under five?

Andes mints FTW

|
This has to be biased, because Almond Roca is the first picture. :harumph:
|
Mike and Ike Regular, Rock Candy (wtf?), Andes Mints, and M&Ms Crispy move on.
|
Valomilk should have been seeded against popcorn ball or some shit. Rock Candy GTFO

My guess is people having never had it voting for what they've had. Valomilk is far superior. |
