Bluejays are very serious

And you know what Folks? I'm excited.

You know why? My bluejays got David ****ing Price.

David Price and Troy Tulowitzki in this past week has increased my bluejays fever that I just can't stop thinking about them right now.

I think you guys should be concerned because you're gonna have some competition come playoff time :p

You're 7 games behind the Yankees. Good luck with that.

DJJasonp 07-30-2015 11:00 AM

First, you need to win your division.

Cause if it's a wc game, depending upon where the rotation is....you may not have price for that game

Hog's Gone Fishin 07-30-2015 11:01 AM

And after this weekend you'll be 10 games back .

BWillie 07-30-2015 11:05 AM

I'm not worried, unless you guys get into the playoffs. I hope the Jays tie for the last WC spot with Minnesota, and Minnesota wins a 19-inning one game playoff to deplete all their pitching.

Super stoked about these moves. Yes, it's unlikely that they can pass the Yankees but the WildCard is totally within reach. As you Royal fans know all too well, as long as you can squeak in...

bricks 07-30-2015 11:35 AM

When you gotta deal with:

2B Travis
3B Donaldson
SS Tulowitzki
RF Bautista
DH Encarnacion
C Russell Martin
1B Colabello
CF Pillar
LF Carrera

How do you handle that lineup? Royals pitchers will be taking lots of aspirins. Just looking at that lineup from an oppositional point of view I'd have a headache

Yeah by then you gotta deal with David Price and Marcus Stroman will be back come playoff time (he's a future ace imo), and now we got our future closer in Aaron Sanchez who has been spectacular out of the bullpen and he will be a closer. He has the stuff and the kid just has "it" to pitch out of pressure. In fact, he thrives under those circumstances.

Bluejays starting pitching is ranked 24th in MLB in team era.

Adding David Price will improve Bluejays overall team era to average. Add Stroman back in there and Bluejays overall starting pitching is top 10 in the league. That will be good enough to compliment an already explosive, Dynamic offense.

In the last 9 years Tulo has been good for an average of 117 games per year.

So statistically speaking, he is good for about 70 percent of a season. And I'm fine with that. Bluejays got good depth along the infield anyways with Ryan Goins, Danny Valencia and Muneri Kawasaki.

The Bluejays currently lead the majors with 538 runs scored in 102 games. That is good for an average of 5.2 runs per game.

Last years Angels scored 773 runs in 162 games which is good for an average of 4.7 runs per game. This years blue jays are better than last year Angels in runs scored by 0.5 runs. But the bottom line is, Jays are on pace to score over 850 runs this season.

And voila, there you have it.

2014 Angels offense 773 runs scored
2015 Bluejays offense on pace to score 853 runs

So 2015 Bluejays O > 2014 Angels O

duncan_idaho 07-30-2015 01:18 PM

I understand being excited. The Blue Jays have made two big additions in the past 24 hours and are going for it. What's not to be excited about?

Tulowitzki is an excellent addition to an already powerful lineup.

As for questions about what the Royals (or other teams) will do when facing the Blue Jays: Execute pitches. Play defense. Hit the ball. The same thing they do against anyone.

Adding more offensive firepower certainly helps the Blue Jays when playing home games. The HR power certainly plays up there... just like it plays down when in less HR-happy fields.

I suspect a 5- or 7-game series between the Royals and Jays would likely come down to which team had home field advantage in the series.

Price definitely helps the rotation. Hard to count on Marcus Stroman for much, though. With an ACL injury like that (to his plant leg, if I recall correctly), he's going to be somewhat limited in how much he can throw until the knee is sound. And returning in 5 months from a torn ACL is incredibly aggressive, to begin with.

I know the answer to this.

When you got starting pitching that is ranked 24th overall in MLB and a bullpen that has blown 16 saves and a record of 10-23 in 1 run ball games, you could have the leagues best offense but at the end of the day, it balances out where the pitching brings you down to even keel.

Who is saying the Blue Jays DON'T have a great lineup? Nobody.

The Angels had the best offense/lineup in baseball last year. They didn't score as many runs as the Jays are this year. The ballparks play a part in that. So does the strength of the individual lineup.

The Royals have one of the worst starting pitching rotations in the AL prior to Cueto coming here but yet there destroying everyone. Because it's about defense and hitting for average. You guys might hit a lot of home runs but you also strikeout a lot. It's not gonna get you guys anywhere
