They are.
The Astros are a team that strike out a ton and hit a huge amount of home runs. Our starting staff is full of contact pitchers, who strike out few. When you're pitching to contact to a team of boppers.. this is what you get.

Yeah, I'm not old enough to have seen him pitch but I know he was great. I was just reading an interview with Dale Murphy the other day and he said the toughest pitcher he ever faced was JR Richard.
