It's been a long time coming. Adiós.

It's time for me to bow out. It's been almost 10 years, and I'm tired.

Tired of the false narratives. Tired of people arguing the poster instead of the post. Tired of discussing football with people who favor excuses over evidence. Tired of wasting time talking about an organization that hasn't won a playoff game in the lifetime of a college senior. Tired of watching other great posters leaving entirely or posting less, weakening the Football IQ this place was known for 5-10 years ago.

I know posting a thread instead of just walking away will open the door for many to take their cheap shots - we all know who they are - and if you don't, just wait. They'll show themselves. Those of you that know me privately know this has been building for a long time.

With all that said, I'll say what I've always said: This team has talent, but will continually fall short as long as they keep thinking you can win in the postseason consistently with average QB play. You don't put enough pressure on the opposing defense, and it puts too much pressure on your defense - if they don't have a near-perfect day, you lose.

Peters and Conley were great picks and should make an impact in the years to come. Should be fun to watch. (What? According to some, I NEVER say anything positive - just another false narrative) While I doubt he'll get his shot, I'd like to see if Murray can be that franchise guy, or if he fell for reasons other than what people here assume - namely, his height and injury history. Hopefully they get Houston signed long-term, because if they don't they are in deep, deep shit. The defense tends to carry this team, and Houston is the most important cog in said defense.

I've made a lot of great friends here that are still friends to this day, and will continue to be. This place was awesome when it was more community based - when there would be gatherings, tailgates, etc. Now, it's littered with trolls that take advantage of the anonymity of the internet and would never show their face in public. That attitude has weakened this place considerably, IMHO.

For those of you I call a friend, we'll be in touch. If anyone that isn't already a friend privately or on Facebook/Twitter wants to continue to keep in touch, I'll keep my PM's open for a week or so.

Thanks, Kyle. It was fun for a while. Queue the "well, bye/sour grapes" posts in 3...2...1.

Easy 6 07-01-2015 02:36 PM

I've seen this idea that "no one left talks good football anymore" floated around from time to time, as well as the occasional "who are the top football minds here?" type threads.

I'd just like to see a list of these dozens of geniuses who've left, who are these masterminds?... Parker? didnt always agree with him but sure, a top football poster IMO, but who else?

Who are these incredible minds, inquiring minds want to know?

Frankly, this whole idea of "who are the best football guys" is a bunch of popularity contest dogshit mixed with "who do I usually agree with"... as far as straight up X's and O's, theres basically Sorter and Sully... everything else is just informed (or not so informed in many cases) OPINIONS.

I've flipped you some shit over the years OTWP, for good reason IMO... but its still too bad you're gonna bail out right before the Chiefs best season in God knows how long.

You're as passionate about football and pay as much attention to it as anyone here... but the "football IQ around here lately" argument is just plain junk.

See you in three months.

loochy 07-01-2015 02:36 PM

I remember when you came on board. You do have some nice opinions. And it is nice to see differing ones as well.

Do what I do. Read what interests you on the first page. Then only read the first page of the thread unless it still interests you. Assume what ever you were gonna say has or will be said. Thus have very little emotional connection. Move on to your next site of choice.

I planned on meeting him out for a beer the last Indy playoff game ... got caught up at a different bar, though

probably why we lost in epic fashion

BossChief 07-01-2015 02:44 PM

Well, that's a shame but maybe it's best for you.

Besides the 2 mentions of Peters and Nelson in this leaving forever thread, I can't remember you saying much positive about anything to do with the Chiefs since they drafted Berry...before that....not sure when.

If your constant outlook is so negative, you probably aren't getting any enjoyment from it anymore and sometimes a break can renew your interest in something you have an emotional attachment to. I know I read last year that you stopped watching some of the games, so the years have probably taken their toll. I'm sure the Indy playoff loss took what wind you had build up, out of your sails.

It's a shame you're leaving, as we've had some heated discussions in the past and it's been fun discussing hot points with ya over the years.

Take care and good luck with everything.

RunKC 07-01-2015 02:46 PM

Maybe this will do you some good since you are one of the handful that bitch that KC doesn't have Aaron Rodgers at the helm.

Football discussion here never lasts long because it gets saturated with the anti-Chief tripe trolling that incurs with every goddamn thread, half being about a position other than quarterback.

Yeah, I had an open invitation to my tailgate for years. You'd see Rainman, AustinChief, Daface and other out of townees at any given game. We'd share jaggerbombs. That definitely helped each other feel a more common bond on the board.

Bearcat 07-01-2015 02:55 PM

That sucks... I'd suggest taking a break for a few months, which I've done several times. I don't really don't talk football much for a lot of those reasons, too... this place is here for my entertainment.

I don't think this place has changed much over 10 years though... discussions get tired no matter how smart the other people in the room are at the time and I've certainly changed quite a bit in the past decade and a half. I think the same stuff existed back then... we've lost regulars, but it's not like the percentage of smart people was significantly higher back then, but as a n00b you'll be more tolerant of it than if you've dealt with it for 10 or 15 years.

Not that it changes your decision, just sayin', there was just as much stupid stuff in the days of young Clay and Slayer than there is now, which is probably even more reason to bow out at some point.

That's the key. Heck I've got a post bout my son's golf cheated back and how I got mad at my wife, twice.

The coma thingie comes out when I see someone that I haven't seen in a long time and they say "Wow, I haven't seen you in a long time". My response, "Yea I know, I've been in coma for 6 months".

Sully 07-01-2015 02:56 PM

Sucks man. I always enjoyed your takes. I don't talk football much anymore. Quite frankly the Herm years crushed my soul. I was about ready to get excited again until the playoff game happened. I still read shit here though. For the most part, there is still decent discussions around here, but like I said, I stay out of the football stuff save for reading some OPs.

Log back on when you've taken some time.

Until the Chiefs win a playoff game & or become the team we all want it to be with being a contender yearly then it's really hard to be encouraged to talk substance and be positive. That's what we have here is lack of quality from the team we root for I don't believe it's because of lack of fans being knowledgeable but frustrations.

Pretty much this. Just stay out of the Chiefs talk right now, because its pretty much worthless to talk about and enjoy the other conversations - baseball, other sports, DC is always an adventure lol.

Fish 07-01-2015 03:20 PM

Now the Chiefs will win the Superbowl this year, and you'll rue the day. Rue it I tell you..

I'll see you elsewhere, bud.

R8RFAN 07-01-2015 03:22 PM

You all are not winning a ****ing super bowl again ever, You will be lucky to ever win another playoff game so all of you may as well quit the forum and go play in the traffic.

Sorry to hear about this, OTWP.
I'm still a relatively new poster here, so I haven't been here and connected with the guys who've been here for 10+ years. But it sucks to see the good ones go. I stay clear of any Chiefs bs threads here anymore. Just not worth the energy to argue. I hope that you can take some time off of CP and be back for the season's start. You will be missed by many.
