Q

irocdave 04-30-2015 08:18 PM

If your coaching staff can keep him focused you guys got a spectacular player. When he was all in with the Huskies he was the best player on the field. Consider other defensive teammates on the team at the same time, Danny Shelton went to the Browns in with the #12 pick in the first round and Shaq Thompson will go late first / early 2nd round.

Great pick, low risk and unlimited upside.

Great pick.

No, this kid is special.

Total ****ing head case, but if his shit is together, he's ****ing a destroyer of worlds on the corner. No memory and is absolutely nasty getting to the ball.

He's better than Waynes.

I would have considered Eric Rowe with the pick as well, but they obviously did their homework and feel that Peters is ready to play ball.

Not in my opinion.. If Peters had not gotten suspended he would of been a top 10 pick

POND_OF_RED 04-30-2015 08:21 PM

Love it. So ready for that home opener now. Hopefully we can smack the receivers around at the line and finally disrupt mannings timing.

BullJunkandIron 04-30-2015 08:21 PM

One of the hing about Dorsey he can pick'em with cute butts.

Peters, Gaines, Smith, Parker, Abdullah? icky

CaliforniaChief 04-30-2015 08:27 PM

I'll err towards taking a playmaker at a premium position over a "safer" pick, if there's such a thing.

That's especially true in the first round.

I like the mentality of the front office. Still have 9 picks and FA to add more talent and depth, but it's a very nice start.

Marcus Peters vs Amari Cooper. Should be quite a battle for years.

cwhocares 04-30-2015 08:31 PM

Yeah Yeah Yeah Blah Blah Blah. Too much baggage. Failed drug test, poor academics, choking a coach, getting kicked off the team. He's got talent but, our O-line sucks and we now have one good receiver. Sure hope he pans out.

ThaVirus 04-30-2015 08:31 PM

What I gather:

If we hit, he's a potential top 5 CB.

If we miss, he's a guy that flashes brilliance but typically underachieves.

Worst case scenario, he has serious off the field issues and is out of the league in a few years.

mcaj22 04-30-2015 08:33 PM

at least we wont have to overpay for Sean Smith now thank goodness

I think that the Chiefs coaches, especially Hall of Famer Emmitt Thomas, will not only coach up this kid on the field, but life as well. The Chiefs also have a very good locker room and I'm sure that will help, big time.

I like the pick, I do. I'm just surprised because based on need I would rate it at

1. WR
2. O-Line
3. LB
4. Defensive Backs
5. QB
6. D-Line

I would put CB higher up on that list of needs. At LB at least we have Johnson coming back and there wasn't a guy worth the 18th overall pick anyways. Last year we struggled to find that 3rd CB and had to settle for guys who were barely serviceable at the position. Now how much better would this defense look like with Peters added to the mix in the secondary?

It was easily BPA (top 10 talent easily) and a position of need. Let's just hope that he proves to be more coachable as a pro with this particular coaching staff.

Best CB in the draft arguably.

Obviously off the field issues are the main concern, but I am glad to see the Chiefs going for players like Peters who may have some rough edges, but also have a huge upside.

Quite a contrast from the Fat Scott era of drafting mostly safe players.
