The Kansas City Chiefs can go many directions at pick No. 18, but the smart choice is staying true to their board and taking the best player on the wall. That would be cornerback Trae Waynes in this scenario.

With cornerback a need here, it does make sense. Waynes fits the long, tall cornerback profile in Kansas City and would be a starter in Year 1 opposite Sean Smith. With Marcus Cooper looking like a backup at best in 2014, Waynes gives the Chiefs value and fills a need in the first round.

Here's a question.

I've said, in so many words, that I think a 2nd for Mychael Kendricks is too easily dismissed.

So, if we came away with the picks in this mock, but replaced Donavan Smith with Kendricks, how would you feel about that draft?

Can I dump 2 of those CBs that he took for us? If I can do that and trade for Kendricks.....then hell yes I would. We'd have a #2 CB opposite of Smith, an instant upgrade at ILB, a talented center that would be competition for Kush and a damn good WR in Lockett.

Something like this....(just switching out the 2nd/3rd CBs and the LB in the 5th)

If I actually thought we could get Lockett at 98, I wouldn't hate this draft. I think you'll have to take Lockett with the 2nd round pick to get him. Interesting he has Waynes as his 3rd corner off the board after Peters and Johnson.

I feel like I've built up, over the past 24 hours, a very unhealthy obsession for Chris Conley.

Waynes, Kendrick, Hardison and Prewitt would be quite the defensive haul.

Yeah....I'd be happy with that. Waynes, Kendricks, McBride and Miller would be a home run for me. If they trade for Kendricks.....Dorsey gets an A+ for this offseason. I'm really hoping he can pull it off. Maybe Kelly does it to add more ammo for Mariota.

Browns trade a 1st for Bradford. We trade a 2nd for Kendricks. They give up two 1st round picks, both 2nd round picks and Fletcher Cox for the #2 pick. I'd take that if I were the Titans.

If you are Dorsey do you take OT D.J. Humphries to cover yourself against Fisher continuing to struggle? He comes in at RT but you always flip him to LT if needed.

We should definitely take an athletic offensive tackle that isn't actually a very good football player with our first pick, but only if we follow that up by trading our second round draft picks for this year and the next for San Francisco's backup QB.

I've checked a handful of mocks this morning, and I keep seeing Erving as the pick.

Why isn't anybody discussing the news about Reid going to Oakland personally this week to visit Marcus Peters? That really makes me think he will be the pick.

I've yet to see one with Erving.

Louis Riddick trashed Wayne's pretty good on border patrol Monday. He really likes Johnston. He didn't think Wayne's would be a good pro. Says his footwork is terrible and side to side is bad. Constantly gets beat off line and stop and go. Catches up with speed but won't work in the pros.

Paylor mocked us Kendricks in his final mock yesterday. Jacobs mocked us Shane Ray. I know Jeremiah mocked us Erving this morning....just remembered that one.
