***Official Kansas City Royals @ Minnesota Twins Game Thread (4/13)***
The Twins are in for a fun lil 3 games wouldn't you say?
My first game thread and the way things are going, I like the Royals odds this game. Interesting fact for this game: Duffy is 3-0 with a 1.35 ERA in four career games at Target Field. Duffy has no explanation for his success there. "Just a coincidence, I'm guessing," he said. "I do like the park. It's really nice." This will be the first time Duffy will start in a team's home opener. "I just got to take the pill and throw it and keep it rolling for us," he said. Game time - 3:10 PM *****Royals Win*****, Still undefeated with a sexy record of 7-0, delicious. 12 - 3 Game Thread Record - 1-0 |

Scared to death for a letdown...
The Royals are going to lose at some point, I just don't want them to look apathetic in doing so. My fear is that this is where that could happen. |
I have a feeling we'll take this series 2-1 but we are going to be favored in all 3 games. I thought we were pretty safe today until captain dipshit started the GDT

Familiar lineup for us.
|
In for seven in a row!
|
I'm a little shocked that we're going to run Salvy into the ground, again ...
but despite the fatigue factor he still swung at every first pitch last year no matter what so he was never getting anything to hit which I think was killing him every bit as much as the fact he caught 1000 games |
Putting together my first fanduel MLB team today.
Let's roll! |
Lets Go ROYALS!
|
Love me some day baseball.

Trap game

I thought there were rules about who could start GDTs? This feels like majorly bad mojo.
|
I now feel terrible about our chances today :(
on the plus side, Detroit is actually down for once :| |

I figure we have about a 2 in 3 chance to win each game, so about 30% to sweep the series.

That's too bad, your threads are the best. Even better knowing the work you put in on them. |

Sal is the Royals MVP every year. He could hit .190 and be our MVP.

Where's Bruiser when you need him?
|
Cole is mowing down the Tigers. 2-0 in the middle of the fifth. Detroit has one hit...a two out single in the second inning.

I too was hoping to see Sal rest today so he could get two days off in a row and be fully refreshed. While he obviously isn't worn down right now this looks like a good time to give him a break. I'd probably also start the Brazilian to give Gordon three full days of rest on the wrist. |
I guess I overlooked the fact we have an off day tomorrow so I'm no longer thinking a Sal rest day is necessary ... considering how hot his bat is.
|
Sam Mellinger was on 810 this morning and said that he expects that Alex will be battling the wrist issue all season long. Wouldn't mind seeing a straight platoon for the first month of the season at least.
|
Well shit. Cole had Cabrera down 0-2, and he singled. He then had Martinez down 0-2 and walked him. First and second, no outs for Detroit down 2-0 in the 7th.
|
Cole is going straight Duffy. Three consecutive 0-2 counts have turned into base runners. Bases loaded, no outs.
|
can't wait to be 103-59 and be the #1 Wild Card seed!
|
I wouldn't hold it against Ned at all if he started getting Dyson 2 starts per week or so by resting Rios / Gordon and Cain from time to time. It's going to take more than 7 or 8 ABs before I decide Paulo Orlando is anything other than a flash in the pan 1 week wonder. Dyson is a very good Major League OF'er.
Of course, I wouldn't rest anyone or do a thing differently until, you know, we lose a game. The Alex rest after a night game with a day game is fine. |

3-1 Pitt
|
Pirates reliever gets out of it giving up only 1 run on a double play ground out. Pirates answer with a first pitch HR in the bottom of the 7th...followed by an infield single on the next pitch...then bunted to second.
|
Pedro Alvarez slams a solo shot over the wall in the bottom of the 7th to give Pittsburgh their 2-run lead back over the Tigers, 3-1.
|
Corey Hart with 2-Run shot. 5-1 Bucs
|
Q
Pirates just went up 5-1. |
Woo
|
well *knock on wood* but it looks like we're going to be the last remaining undefeated team :thumb:
|
Lewdog had a slow day at work and is home for this!

**** you Tigers.

Anybody know how to get a station on Tune-In Radio app that plays the Royals game? If you try 610, they have it blocked on their internet stream. There was a station last year that apparently gave no f***s and had it anyway.
|
5-4
Martinez just homered driving in Cabrera. Still no outs in the top of the ninth. |
Pirates falling apart. Detroit losing 5-4 now.

Just be careful, there seems to be a lot of pop up shady ads on this page, but I'm getting a live tv stream. Watched last thursday's game with this site too. |
Double play. 2 outs, nobody on.
