Raiders HC Dennis Allen fired?

@APtcollins: My sources tell me that @RAIDERS HC Dennis Allen is fired and an announcement could come as soon as Tuesday

Raiders gonna Raider. 10th straight loss today.

Strongside 09-28-2014 07:59 PM

Man. I hate that team, but I gotta be honest. Football is more fun when we can actually consider them a rivalry. They need to figure their shit out. Thank God I'm not a fan of that dumpster fire of a team.

Red Dawg 09-28-2014 08:00 PM

This is why they always suck. Let Andy and Dorsey build and we will rise. The best franchises don't fire their staff every other year. Andy is a top notch coach and we should keep him around.

ROFLROFLROFL

They're so pathetic. I can only call them my second most hated team these days. I'll shed a tear for them.

DeathByArrows 09-28-2014 08:04 PM

I still thank them every day that they fired Cable and Jackson. The only two coaches who were able to get something out of that abyss in the last 12 years.

Maybe we will get out of the abyss of suck sometime in the next decade?

This last decade of suck has been pretty hard to deal with, it sucks rooting for a bottome feeder franchise...

Rain Man 09-28-2014 08:11 PM

I think you have to be over 40 to remember when that team wasn't a joke.

Hoover 09-28-2014 08:12 PM

Constant change is what kills a franchise. New GMs and HCs mean different offenses and defenses, which mean different player preferences. I thank God every day those days are over in KC.

Whats so shitty is no matter how ****ing terrible the Raiders have been and they have been like shitstain bad, they still found a way to fall ass backwards into a Superbowl in 2003 and we cant even fall ass backwards into a play off win. That shit makes me more sad. lol

Continuity is fine, if you've got something worth continuing. The continuity of keeping Matt Millen around from 2001-2008 didn't lead to a whole lot of good for the Lions during that time period.

Ummm.....are you forgetting when Gannon was there? You know, that one guy Marty and Carl got rid of for Elvis Grbac.

The Raiders were one of the best teams in the AFC throughout Gannon's tenure, and did go to a Superbowl (horrible result and all). Unfortunately, that's more than we can say.

But yes, they have been a joke for about 10 years now. The problem comes from not having a franchise QB. Similar to the problem the Bills and Browns have had during that period. Chiefs not far off, although we've had more good seasons in the last 10 than any of those franchises.

Two years out of 20 plus years the Raiders were good. Not too impressed.

More like 4 years from what I remember, but point is, I'm not 40 and I unfortunately remember when they were good and went to a SB. It still ticks me off that the Chiefs management was largely responsible for that because the Raiders wouldn't have been good without Gannon. He was the perfect fit for that team.

Also, 4 years of being good out of the last 20 is pretty much how 1/3 the league has been since 1994. Miami, Oakland, Buffalo, Washington, New Orleans, Cleveland, Detroit, Carolina, Arizona, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, St. Louis. All those teams weren't good for any more than 4 years since 1994.

As a Chiefs fan, I try to be careful about which franchises to make fun of for having long periods of futility.

Aries Walker 09-28-2014 08:54 PM

I am perfectly fine with the Raiders being a slow-motion train wreck. If it were up to me, I would not only fire the coach, but the entire staff and all of the players, and then abolish the franchise and salt the earth on which it stood, so that nothing more may grow there ever again.

The Raiders have not been above .500 in 11 seasons.
The Lions have one double digit win season in their last 19.

Those are your AFC and NFC bottom feeding teams.

Oh of course. I think the Raiders are highlighted due to their ignorant fan base. If they didn't act like they won the Super Bowl in insert every current year every year, people would feel sorry for them.

Case in point, I've been at my job going on five years now. I've known this Raider fan for the entirety of that. Every year he talks so much shit before the season saying they're gonna be good, etc. It's become an office joke. Every time somebody sees him and we're talking sports/football people say, "so is this gonna be the year finally?" He's been there longer than me and I guess it's been going on for almost 10 years. One year he'll be right lol. They're just an out of this world fan base. I think literally most of their fans don't give a damn how they do record wise as long as they can dress like gangstas and weirdos every Sunday.

They would never have a SOC movement or anything like that. I really think they're content with losing as long as they can dress up in costumes.

I think what he's saying is we have sucked less, which is true. As far as being up there competing with the big boys but sadly falling short. Only one team succeeds every year and that's the one on top. But they have had literally no hope for over a decade now. None. I'd take our last 11 years over that mess any time. Sure they have a SB appearance but it's not about appearances. They've just been awful.

People complain about our drafts...the Raiders have had one draft pick pan out in the last 15 plus years. ONE. And that was a kicker. It could be worse my fellow Chiefs fans and look over to the bay and that's the worst.

We haven't had hope in the last decade either. We have been a dumpster fire on rails train wreck.

I still don't know why they let Jon Gruden go. He's the one that turned the team around, built the offense around the strengths of Rich Gannon, and turned the team into a contender. Who knows what happens to that team if that bullshit Tuck Rule doesn't happen in that playoff game.

They kick Gruden to the curb only for him to go to Tampa, give them just enough of a boost to their offense and let that epic defensive unit carry them to the Superbowl where he literally destroys his former team by telling said epic defense every single thing that they were about to do before they did it.

Bill Callahan was running Jon Gruden's offense against Jon Gruden and a savage Tampa Bay defensive unit. It was over before it ever started.

It doesn't really get more epic fail than that.

I initially forgot that the Raiders actually retained last years coach. It seems like they have a new HC every year..

He was 4-12 two years in a row which makes you wonder, why fire him now? If you brought him back then why not give him the season? What are they, worried about saving this season and making the playoffs or something?

Yeah, Allen's in his third year here. He has been kept probably to prove that Oakland will give coaches more than one year. I don't think it unreasonable to have expected some sort of improvement in his third year. Allen has lost the locker room, and it shows on the field. I don't know what the deal is, but the team will not play for him. Now it's Sporano time. He cannot be worse than Allen. I don't even know you, and I'd bet you would not do worse than Allen.

They should bring Madden back. When you saw those sideburns, you knew he meant business.

While Allen may not be any good, that roster is so terrible that Mckenzie should have been left at Heathrow. MJD, Matt Schaub, Charles Woodson? Lombardi would go 2-14 with that team

Charles Woodson has actually been one of their best players on defense, lol. He broke up several passes against the Pats and was a big reason why the Pats had problems scoring against them.

That being said, McKenzie has had some shitty drafts; this year's class was his best by far but he still ****ed up the other ones.

It doesn't really get more epic fail than that.

The Raiders didn't fire Gruden. They traded him away.

That was back when you could trade your coach.

Schaub hasn't started a game yet. That may change. Carr couldn't put weight on one leg, but still completed a pass on the next play. If half the team had the heart of Carr, they wouldn't be 0-4.

Bench Carr. He's not too shabby for a rookie, especially considering what he's had to work with. Let someone else get killed out there, we're not building the team around anyone named Matt...

And McKenzie did haul in Mack, Carr and Gabe Jackson this year.

The Chiefs were above .500 for 9 consecutive seasons under Schottenheimer, including a pair of 13-3 years.

And they won more games in the '90s than any other team.

They just make it hard for themselves to find quality staff when they're firing them every season, I'd think job security would be high on the list of any sought-after coach.
But boo hoo **** them.

Bottom feeder franchise.

That's where you're wrong short stack, I can handle the truth. It's guys acting like whiny bitches that I can't handle. Take yourself for example. Your team sucks, but you don't come here and just bitch and reuse the same line over and over. You accept the suck and, well do whatever Raiders fans do every year when they suck. But since you wanna stick up for your girlfriend maybe you should be the one working an orgasm out of her mangina so she can be a productive member of this board.
