Free NFL Sunday ticket

CBS blacked out in my market due to ongoing negotiations with Raycom. Called and threatened to cancel my service and they appeased me with the NFL Sundat Ticket max for free! Score!

-King- 09-02-2014 07:31 PM

No Way!

lewdog 09-02-2014 07:33 PM

I'll probably cancel mine after the Chiefs start 0-8 to save some money.

Easy 6 09-02-2014 07:35 PM

Not a bad way to appease.

Canofbier 09-02-2014 07:37 PM

They probably extended your contract for another two years on top of that, though. The way streaming services are improving nowadays, I'm not eager to lock myself down to an expensive and increasingly antiquated service.

Shaid 09-02-2014 08:36 PM

I got Sunday Ticket for free 5 years in a row doing the same thing. Fox was what I pushed for a couple years. A different time they were having a disput with all the disney shows, etc. My wife tried once and got $10 off a month. I called back and told them that was insulting and got Sunday Ticket, 6 months of premium channels and $30 off a month for 6 months. Each time I extended the contract 1 year so it basically always left the contract up for grabs the following year. Last year I just terminated entirely though, just too expensive for how little we used it. They offered Sunday Ticket, etc. again and even called back with a really good deal, just wasn't worth it to me anymore. Did like the DVR and Sunday Ticket though.

I can't afford my Sunday Ticket for the 1st time in 12 years, I need to call them and do some hard selling.

No contract extension. But auto-renewal.

I just called and haggled with them. I totally hate having to do that. I have had DirecTV for 15 years and always pay on time. I told them it is bull that I get charged the full price for the Sunday Ticket. They gave me $10 off a month and said that was the best they could do on the Ticket, but they would put me on hold and see if there was any other way to get my bill down. Bull! She goes off to work on my bill and comes back and says I can have it for free as well as Showtime, HBO etc free for 3 months and can drop them or continue after that. Her manager was not available earlier and she was only authorized to give $10 off without supervisor approval!

Definitely pays to call! I got Sunday Ticket for free saving me $329 and they threw in HBO Showtime etc free for 3 months on top of it with no extended committment! :D:D:D

They were gonna charge you $329 for Sunday Ticket? I would have called also

mdchiefsfan 09-06-2014 10:30 AM

I qualified to stream it on my xbox one. This is the first time I've been able to watch every Chiefs game in the comfort of my own home. Bars were raping my wallet, so I figured it was a sound investment.

Earthling 09-06-2014 12:35 PM

I called today and asked if there was a discount for long time customers and got about $40 knocked off. I'm cool with that. They told me that if teams are blacked out in their home areas then Direct TV will NOT televise those games. I think that's new for this year. Anyone know if the Chiefs had any blacked out games last year? Kinda worries me...

TimeForWasp 09-06-2014 02:13 PM

I called to cancel service and they offered me free wireless genie on two tvs, free sunday ticket, free showtime for 4 months, free installation. I changed my mind and kept it. Just got hooked up yesterday. one flatscreen above the other and I can move one outside and watch games. This is pretty awsome.

When you move a TV outside you still have to have that dumb box attached to the coax cable somewhere right?

The mini goes with the one you want to move. You can keep it attached to the tv somehow it's only the size of a paperback book. You still have to plug the tv and mini in to power. Supposed to reach around 80' whatever wireless range is.

I got upgraded to the genie with our last move but no wireless ones.

Damn, maybe that is something new? I'd love to take my TV out to the patio and they told me they'd have to route coax to that side of the house to the patio when I asked about this back in February.

None of them were blacked out last year. The national games are just on your regular networks instead of the 700s channels.

Wow, kinda being a dick aren't ya? While they offered him the deal in return for not losing his business, which means it's not a hand-out, it's a comp; these constant fights grow older by the day. JFC, look how long Time Warner held-out against the NFL! And they were the last one.

I'll be happy when cable providers aren't a monopoly - it'll be good for all. And going to satellite seems to have its own challenges, so I'm not thinking it's a better choice in many cases (like days that it rains).

But either way, it's not a hand-out, it's a company desperate to keep customers who are willing to deal a bit.

Nzoner 09-07-2014 07:49 AM

I had to call Friday to get my other 6 receivers activated and it took 25 minutes to get an agent, then she got flustered with what I was wanting to do and said she needed to put me on hold.30 minutes later she picks up the phone to see if I'm still there(as I can hear the other agents in the background)and then hangs up thus causing me to lose connection.

Now I'm ****ing livid and call back and have to wait another 20 minutes but i get a very nice young man in retention and proceed to tell my story giving the girl's name and going as far to saying she needs her ass fired.

20 minutes later I have Sunday Ticket max for $149 plus Showtime for a year plus $10 credit on my bill each month plus a $200 Visa gift card.I told the guy I didn't want to come across as "that guy" to which he assured me I wasn't and that there was no excuse for the treatment I received.

Cable/Satellite TV are near monopolies, hence they gouge the hell out of you. I approve of anybody who can get the price of that gouging down. This is nothing at all like taking handouts. It is like having a car dealer add $5,000 dealer markup on your car, and you are just trying to get it back down to MSRP.

Well they were definitely trying to hose me then. I just pulled my bill. 6 payments of $54.99 for a total of $329.94 is what they were going to charge me. Glad I got someone to wipe it out. Although I did not know there was a "basic NFL Ticket". Thought it was all one. Red Channel?

Go CHIEFS!

Not sure thats a gamble that you can cancel for a refund. Looking at the sked and this ongoing game effort - why wait till then?

Not a refund for weeks used but will be from time I cancel. Maybe I'll give them through September?

NFL Sunday Ticket is staying on DirecTV.

The league announced on Wednesday that it has extended its agreement with DirecTV to give the satellite provider the rights to show out-of-market games. Darren Rovell of ESPN reports that it’s an eight-year deal that will see DirecTV paying the NFL $1.5 billion a year, a 50 percent increase over the $1 billion a year DirecTV was paying under its previous deal with the league.

The NFL’s announcement also said DirecTV will continue with added features beyond the live Sunday games, including the Red Zone Channel, Game Mix with eight games on one screen and the new Fantasy Zone channel. DirecTV will also continue carrying NFL Network on satellite and make it available to subscribers to watch on mobile devices.
