If the Royals were to even make it to the World Series, I would gladly accept a 6-10 season and Alex Smith extension.

Why Not? 08-22-2014 01:37 PM

Yeah, it's not overreaction when people are getting all excited about Travis Kelce or DAT though, is it?

The double-standards around here are funny.

Preseason only counts when players play well. If they suck, like Eric Fisher, "it's only preseason."

The thing is, is that no one is saying the Chiefs will go 10-6 or better because they are excited about Kelcie or DAT.

People are saying we will go 6-10 because Fisher sucks, we lost Stephenson or the secondary looks weak.

People have been saying 6-10 long before this. And people were saying 10-6 long before this.

Do you honestly think Stephenson's suspension ACTUALLY changed anybody's feelings about this season?

Its just fun to bitch about the negatives.

Hopefully Fisher will get better in time. Its not like he's as good as he'll ever be right now. If he is then God help us, but I dont see that being the case.

Sean Smith will be starting for Ron Parker week 1 and hopefully Eric Berry will be healthy by then, along with both of our starting ends that havent played in either game yet.

6-10 was a distinct possibility as soon as the schedule was announced. The draft did nothing to improve this projection. Injuries and suspensions have made 6-10 a probability.

Injury? What ****ing injury are you talking about?

Besides, regardless of whether you or anyone else had the Chiefs pegged for a losing season this year, losing Stephenson will not be the reason the Chiefs lose a bunch of games this year.

I doubt anybody here TRULY believes that Stephenson alone will be the reason.

It's just another big log on the fail fire, unfortunately.

MeatRock 08-22-2014 04:05 PM

I have concerns regarding the Chiefs secondary, as i think it will get torched more often than not. Every year good teams turn to shit the following year. Look at the Texans and Steelers for examples.

I honestly think the Chiefs are an 8-8 team this year and 9-7 at best.

In most of those cases where a team falls off the cliff it's because their QB situation goes to hell.

Who gives a shit? We're not facing poverty-level QBs for half the season this year. The D is trash.

Quit extrapolating results based on LAST SEASON for THIS season.

That shit didn't fly in 2012, when half this place was saying WE WERE 7-9 LAST YEAR OUR IMPROVEMENTS WILL RESULT IN GLORY. It doesn't fly now.

They did last year, with nearly the same personnel.

It's not unreasonable to think they can at least come close to last year's performance.

A couple things:

You have no clue how many QBs will get injured before KC plays them.

Injuries and poor safety play is what caused the defensive demise last season. You can't lose your best pass rusher, have your other bookend pass rusher play injured, and have one of the worst starting free safeties in the league and be successful on defense.

You are the biggest woman on this entire board and your knowledge of the game of football is elementary at best.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-22-2014 04:32 PM

The same people cried about a tough schedule last year and said the nfc east would sweep them. When that didn't happen bullshit excuses were cooked up.

The Giants and Eagles were supposed to destroy the Chiefs last year. They had Eli and Vick for ****s sake. Right?

Hammock Parties 08-22-2014 04:34 PM

You guys really don't learn. The only reason our team looked halfway decent in 2011 was all the shitty QBs we faced.

Same shit last year.

The team has been crap against real NFL QBs. You can't play guys like Curtis Painter, Caleb Hanie, Terrelle Pryor, Jeff Tuel and Matt McGloin every Sunday.

The D was flat out bad last year when we had to play a real QB. Even a middling QB like Philip Rivers ****ing destroyed us last year.

It was a bad defense and they didn't get better.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-22-2014 04:36 PM

Rivers barely beat the backups and did nothing until both studs went down in the 1st game. See I can spin too! OMG CHEFS SHOULD A BEEN 13 AND 3!!!!!

LoneWolf 08-22-2014 04:37 PM

Tony Romo really destroyed KC's defense. Eli tore KC's defense up.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-22-2014 04:37 PM

Do other teams give back wins against sub 500 teams? I don't get it. You have to adjust every team in the league. Chargers should have won like 4 games by your formula.

You can't have it both ways.

Pasta Little Brioni 08-22-2014 04:48 PM

Many of the backups the team faced were as good or better than the "starter" they replaced. Wasn't like manning romo rivers or luck went down.....or facing a team full of backups to back into the playoffs on a blown call.

I already said we'd probably get lucky and win one we didn't deserve to win this year, too. It happens.

But when we run into real QBs, we lose. Most of the time.

Gonna be a long year.

I see from the reviews that consensus is building towards my prediction.

WOOOOOOO 6-10 WOOOOOOOO!
