It's an ad agency/video producer in St. Joe. I think he's one of my company's customers.

It's no Ojai Valley Taxidermy commercial, but it's catchy.

They need to talk to the dude that did the Mr. Sprigg's BBQ commercial. He could bring some soul brotha up in there...

Shawnee Mission Hyundai and Power Lift are two local commercials I find myself jamming out to throughout the day.

If I want to piss the wife off, I just sing the Shawnee Mission Hyundai and Shawnee Mission Kia jingles in a consecutive loop.

Works every time.

The worst national commercial playing right now is the Wendy's pretzel bun/Be With You collaboration. I could pull the head off kittens after listening to that once and getting it stuck in my head.

Between that and being fans of Missouri Tigers I don't know how you haven't killed yourself.

Seriously though, if you're in the KC market keep your ears out for that Power Lift commercial. It's like a foundation repair company or something, they got legit lyrics and even get after it a bit with some emotion.

Those Blue Bell ice cream songs make me want to hurt old people.

Its because hiring advertising sales people is a never ended job, thus for the most part you get people who have no clue about advertising or what they are suppose to do marketing wise.

I know someone who has shot local commercials for years and years. You'd be surprised by watching some of these commercials to learn that a lot of the time he does what the clients ASK him to do.

You also, depending on the market, have a limited number of production companies.

Here in the Des Moines market, you'll find that commercials for local businesses almost all sound and look exactly alike. Even their corny jingles all sound eerily similar.

It's because they were all produced by the same production company.

You can really taste the difference in this Blue Bell ice cream, Harold!

Those are decent jingles. The Oscar Meyer one is not bad either. My sister and I used to sing along to the Butter Krust (bread) commercial, complete with overly exaggerated accents.

That ad doesn't differentiate them from other malls. You have to go with what makes you unique. Find a true and amazing fact and build on it, such as:


Acme Mall: The highest ratio of shoppers to depressing lap-walking senior citizens in cheap sneakers in the entire metro area.

Acme Mall: Fewest door dings per shopping visit of any mall in the state.

Acme Mall: Over 30 bench locations with views of the Victoria's Secret bra area.

Cecil Myers is a pimp.

It worked if people go to East Hills to shop and not just laugh at them on the internet.
