Potential leaked footage from the Deadpool movie

Take it for what it's worth. Apparently it's a CGI movie with Reynolds as the voice of Deadpool.

Supposedly, this was Ryan Reynolds' test reel for the studio. The film got stuck in development hell, then Wolverine ruined the character. They're [either Ryan's people or the studio] probably complicit in this leak, in search of a reboot, with the Marvel Universe going gangbusters these days.

One could be cynical about the PR spin, but Ryan kind of nails it, and Deadpool deserves a reboot in keeping with the tone of the comic.

Sadly, I think fox owns the rights. So nothing is going to happen. Even with fringe gotg getting ready to destroy theatres.

Hawk 07-31-2014 02:23 PM

I think they have figured out how to clear the hurdle of making it PG-13 instead of R which makes a HUGE difference in the potential box office $$$ and is probably the main reason it was shelved. Optimistic we may see this made after all.

Ryan Reynolds to Return as Deadpool

Ryan Reynolds is closing a deal to star in Fox-Marvel’s “Deadpool,” their long-in-development “X-Men” spinoff.

Reynolds announced the news by posting an image Thursday of the Deadpool character on his Twitter account.

“It’s chimichanga time” is a reference to Deadpool’s favorite food. Mike Oncley created the rendition of the character’s head made up of spent bullet cartridges.

Fox announced several months ago that it had slotted “Deadpool” for Feb. 12, 2016. Reynolds, who portrayed the character in 2009’s “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” has been expected to star for many years.

Tim Miller is directing the superhero film from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. Lauren Shuler Donner is producing.

The talkative mercenary character, also known as Wade Wilson, was created by artist and writer Rob Liefeld and co-writer Fabian Nicieza. He first appeared in print in 1991.

Deadpool’s primary power is the ability to heal quickly.

With Reynolds reprising his role in the film, it will mark his first superhero project since “Green Lantern,” which floundered at the box office in 2011.

Green Lantern didn't really "flop", per se. $219 million on a $200 million dollar budget. If there's anyone to blame for its failure, it's WB and their marketing team but moreso, the script.

Plus, it couldn't figure out whether it wanted to be a comedic superhero film or a dark superhero film. The performances were fine but the VFX over the top. Plus, that villain was one part scary and one part unbelievable.

They ****ed it up on a par to what they did with the Fantastic Four, Galactus, and Silver Surfer. Green Lantern SHOULD have been an awesome flick. It wasn't.

Yep. It was on the studio, not the actors.

I've always though of Ryan Reynolds as 'Dane Cook, but not a douchebag'

Was a big fan of Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place, mostly for Traylor Howard though.

Weird that Nathan 'Mal/Castle' Fillion played a 'Nick on Family Ties' type on that show.

Totally psyched for this! Looks like an origin story...

http://www.foxmovies.com/movies/deadpool

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, DEADPOOL tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

FWIW, they're gearing up to do it again. I think they'll get it right this time since Zach and to some extent, Chris Nolan, are overseeing the DC universe.

Well, I guess they're both anti-heroes and mercenaries but..

This has to be the best chance Reynolds has to actually make himself the star people have been trying to make him for a decade.

I actually like the guy; loved him in Smokin' Aces and thought he was the only reason to watch Blade Trinity. But he just keeps falling on his face.

Deadpool is right in his wheelhouse. If it sucks, he's probably shot as an A Lister.

While he's had several successes in the world of comedy, I don't think he's viewed as an "A-List" guy. He'll always have that genre to fall back into if he chooses and he'd great in a "fish out of water" buddy cop film, with the right script and cast, of course.

I thought that he and Blake Lively were great in The Green Lantern but the direction and script weren't up to par. IMO, that's not on him but on the studio. They've since reversed course and will now have two Green Lanterns in one film and while I like Chris Pine, I think Reynolds would have been the better choice.

I follow the guy on Twitter and he's naturally hilarious at times, saying some really off-the-wall and taboo shit. If he decided to pursue only comedies, he could be a superstar.

ThaVirus 07-14-2015 02:10 PM

I love me some Ryan Reynolds.

He was great in Amityville Horror, Blade Trinity, Wolverine: Origins, The Change Up and Safe House. He did well in Green Lantern as well, that movie just blew dicks for so many reasons other than his performance.

007 07-14-2015 03:30 PM

He's a great wiseass cracking actor, but he just picks horrible roles.

If they do a Ghostbusters "Male Remake" Ryan should be cast as Venkman.

Deberg_1990 07-14-2015 09:27 PM

Reynolds needs a better agent. But this role seems like a perfect fit for him.

Gravedigger 07-14-2015 09:38 PM

Waiting was Ryan Reynolds greatest performance.

Bambi 07-14-2015 09:38 PM

Marvel is still doing "jokey" comic book movies?

Buehler445 07-14-2015 10:24 PM

I haven't seen Safe House, I need to, but he was really really good in Smokin Aces. That was outside of his normal role and he had the dramatic last scene. I think he can do it, he just needs to quit accepting jank ass roles.

ThaVirus 07-14-2015 10:36 PM

Safe House was really good, I thought. He didn't have to carry the movie himself because Denzel was also in it but he did a great job. He was flexing his drama muscles in that one.

It reflects on him a bit as well, no? Maybe he's not being offered blockbusters because studios aren't approaching him. Or maybe he's turning them down..?

I have no clue how he could have read the script for RIPD and decided to sign on for that shitshow. I seriously watched that for 6 minutes and turned it off.

Deadpool is right in his wheelhouse. If it sucks, he's probably shot as an A Lister.

You have to at least admire he's the one that fought for getting this made. It was D-E-A-D as possible in Hollywood to getting made. He rounded up writers to draft a great spec treatment, worked with design guys to fabricate the look and props specially made, and shot a high end teaser video he put online to gain viral attention. Then used his social media accounts to post cool related picks for the Deadpool project he wanted to make to bring more attention to it hoping fans would push for it to be made.

Eventually they noticed, and somehow the studio gave it the green light. This movie never even happens if he didn't do some serious heavy lifting and collaborating with great talent in presenting their vision of the character for a movie.

Everything I've seen from the clips available looks like for the degree of horrible that Green Lantern was, this will be to the same degree but good.
