SceneItAll Tournament: Round 8 - The Championship

This is for all the marbles. The two favorite movie scenes of Chiefsplanet have been determined, and in roughly 24 hours a winner will be declared between them. Good luck to the combatants.

Start this clip at the invasion - the 3:02 mark.

Rain Man 07-28-2014 04:04 PM

My vote is obvious:

#1 - Pulp Fiction. This scene contains humor, witty dialogue, great acting, and drama. You can't beat it.

#2 - Saving Private Ryan. This scene is epic, truly epic. But it doesn't contain much humor and witty dialogue. Silver medalist.

TimBone 07-28-2014 04:16 PM

Pulp Fiction.

Rain Man 07-28-2014 04:36 PM

This is going to be like watching Ali and Frazier, or Dempsey and Tunney.

Trivers 07-28-2014 05:19 PM

Ryan.

One of the few war movies that attempts to bring the true experience to the viewer.

Easy 6 07-28-2014 05:21 PM

Too easy, SPR... anything to take a dump on pulp fiction.

This place has damn near made me hate that movie.

Now that we've reached the end of this thing, I'd like to say thanks again to Rain Man for putting this thing together. That had to be a heck of a job.

That's just a great scene, man. The dialogue is wonderful. Every time I see it, I enjoy it just as much as I did the first time. I believe that's what this tourney was all about.

It has been a pleasure. It's fun to see what resonates with the masses around here.

And, umm, I've discovered that this is a group that really enjoys violence and confrontation.

Like I've said before...saw it at a theatre & the crowd was in absolute shock from that scene. I've never been in a crowd like that before or since. It is brutal to watch but it's an incredible movie scene. I can only imagine the painstaking work that went into making it.

I've always wanted to know if, and how, they shot it, retakes, etc.

You could feel the shock factor in the audience.

I saw it the first night because I knew who put it together & I wanted to see it bad. No one knew what to expect as it was everyone's first time to see it & no leaks about anything had been out there. Crazy experience to see that scene just jump out & attack you.

WhawhaWhat 07-28-2014 06:23 PM

Pulp.Fiction.

Samuel L Jackson rules the PF scene and doesn't need much explanation. I love Travolta in the scene as well. He's just in the back, playing it cool, but when Jules mentions the Bible, he knows it's time to get down to business because he's heard this before. Puts his cigarette out and then grabs his gun, ready for the end of the show.

Great screenplay and great directing.

SPR is just guns and guys blowing up. It's been done a million times.

Okay, I'm calling the race, and I think it's an upset.

The only thing is, Private Ryan obliterated the rule on time of duration for a scene, so it should have been disqualified from the start.

Other than that...

And now I will slowly roll out the TRUE top 25 scenes, based on the best available evidence, which is my own opinion.

My #25 favorite scene of all time - Groundhog Day's "I am a God".

It's fate in the tournament - it lost in Round 2 to "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly", for which I will never forgive Chiefsplanet.

I just read that the Omaha beach scene cost 11 million to shoot and had a 1000 extras in it. Amputees were issued prosthetics to simulate soldiers getting limbs blown off.

http://meneds.com/md/201407/a_How_di...ate_Ryan_.html

Quote:

The first really big action scene in the movie, and perhaps, the most important. It seems like it would be extremely difficult to re-create that event. How did they do it?

From IMDB: The Omaha Beach scene cost $11 million to shoot and involved up to 1000 extras, some of whom were members of the Irish Army Reserve. Of those extras, 20-30 of them were amputees issued with prosthetic limbs to simulate soldiers having their limbs blown off. How did they do it? Money. Lots and lots of money.

I bet there are a lot of hanging chads involved in this vote.

Its fate in the tournament - lost in Round 2 to the My Cousin Vinny court scene.
