He better lead this team to the Super Bowl now...

like a 5 hour hold out. shouldn't be that big of a deal that would sink the team.
|
He should have held out longer and missed camp. Those legs need a break.

ALEX SMITH SHOWED HE CAN GET YARDS WITH HIS LEGS THIS IS A MISTAKE.

Good on #Chiefs to pay Charles. Was criminally underpaid after carrying KC O. Only RB in NFL to lead his team in every rush&receiving stat. |

****ing A, dude. I know he deserves it but I hope we didn't tie up more than $7 mil-ish per year. |

Mort said talks with Alex Smith not going good.
|
Guaranteed money and next two years are all that matter. Never going to see the last two years unless his career is the outlier.
|
If the recent history indicates, Charles will get 3 bazillion dollar and a blow job from Dorsey.

$58M is my guess. though I hope its $48M to afford the Houston deal.
|
Too bad it was not a longer deal- want him to retire a chief.

Houston is more important right now anyways. |

A) He deserves it. B) We ain't winning shit without him. C) He protects Alex Smith. D) It's four years, that's the perfect length. E) It sends a message to other players/agents/free agents... KC Cheaps don't ****ing exist. Chiefs take care of their own. |
I'll guess a 3-year extension for $32 million, and something like half of it guaranteed.
That makes him a Chief for 5 more years. Dorsey will probably restructure it so he starts receiving the guaranteed bucks right now. If he's productive for the next 3-4 seasons like people say he'll be, that will keep him on the team throughout the remainder of his prime and expire either during the downslope or just after. But thats fine, because he can always be cut a year early without putting dead money against the cap. |

Kevin Kietzman doesn't understand why they did this deal, thus proving with absolute certainty it was the right thing to do.

Like I said
Charles > Houston > Smith He's top ****ing priority on this team |

one step closer to the Super Bowl run.... Well done Chiefs....

Jamaal likely will get 40 million over the 4 years if I had to guess. (He is between Shady's 9 and AP's 12), however with Smith I'd have to let him play this year out if he is asking for too much. If he earns the money, then okay, but otherwise no need to budge. Tag him if you have to. Houston should be next.
Makes you wonder who will get cut next year... Tamba, S. Smith, Fasano, Daniel, etc. days looking numbered. Would love to have Tamba just take a huge paycut. |

Yes Charles is far more elite than Alex, but if the alternative is Chase ****ing Daniels, we are ****ed. Now assuming we can develop Bray or Murray, maybe you have something |
Cool, at least they got one deal taken care of.
|
This explains the Smith/Houston hold up.
All that time we were worrying about those two, we didn't think about the fact that they might be working out a deal for Charles. The table is set, and now they can take care of Houston. Alex's deal will get done next year, or he'll get franchised. |

67 190 230 12 285 259 That's basically 1,000 carries. If he averaged 250 carries over the next four years, that puts him at 2k at the end of the contract. And 2k is what Herm Edwards said last week is usually the plateau for running backs, FWIW. |

It’s a 2-year extension for #Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles worth $18M in new money, source says. I kinda thought the 'don't give him more money crowd' was stupid for this reason right here. Happy to see Charles is signed through what will probably to the end of his effective career.
Of course Charles proves to be pretty unique. Many players would have held out for more. He could have really squeezed this team and forced their hand. |

There is truth to this. I'm just looking out for the future. I guess, THIS is exactly the reason that you let the Dexter McClusters, Tyson Jacksons, and Jon Asamoahs of the world walk- so you can pay guys like Charles and Houston. |
Quote:
|
27 originally + 18 with this deal so 45 million
|
so $52M total is a ****in hell of a deal.
|
hopefully this means it is impossible for us to pay Alex.
