Chiefs sign CB justin rodgers and WR deon anthony

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/...medium=twitter

The Kansas City Chiefs signed versatile former Troy University quarterback Deon Anthony as a wide receiver.

They also signed cornerback Justin Rogers and cut defensive lineman Risean Broussard.

Anthony ran the 40-yard dash in 4.44 seconds with a 36-inch vertical leap, 10-foot broad jump and bench pressed 225 pounds 17 times at his Pro Day.

Last season, he rushed for 432 yards and three touchdowns and passed for five touchdowns. He also caught 10 passes for 116 yards.

He rushed for eight touchdowns as a junior and was named second-team All-Sunbelt Conference as an all-purpose selection. He passed for nine touchdowns and threw three interceptions.

So... D. Anthony will be battling D'Anthony. Got it.

LMAO

Mr. Laz 06-05-2014 06:33 PM

so here goes Dorsey again, apparently he believes that CBs and WRs can be found on the junk pile so why draft them.

Dunerdr 06-05-2014 06:45 PM

Still think we should give Marcus cooper a shot at wide out

Must be a KC thing...

Royals draft

LHP Brandon Finnegan, TCU

Finnegan's fastball sits in the low-to-mid-90s and now -- thanks to an assist from Team USA teammate and third overall pick Carlos Rodon -- rocks an impressive slider. He also mixes in a change. Due to his size (5-foot-11, 184 pounds), there have been some durability concerns. (He did miss a few starts with shoulder trouble this spring.) Still, some scouts see him as a No. 2 starter in the majors eventually, and with pitching at such a premium these days, that's pretty attractive.

Way to draft a hopeful #2 starter with your number 1 pick in the draft.

We drafted a corner that's über talented.

redshirt32 06-05-2014 07:03 PM

Get them in open space and try to catch them,
with everyone saying this was the best drat in 20 plus years, there should be a lot of UDFA's that got over looked because the talent level was loaded supposedly.

Any Priest Holmes out there left in UDFA pool ?

Good players can be found anywhere.

In related logic, someone wins the lottery once, so keep playing the lottery as a primary source of income.

At that size, I want to see a 4.3, not mid 4.4 range.

The Chiefs used their full complement of draft picks so UDFAs aren't really their only source of income. This is more like spending a little pocket change on a lottery ticket.

The Chiefs were inactive in free agency and did not significantly address their most glaring need (WR) in the draft.

Dorsey is following the Fat Scott strategy... rely on the cheapest possible option... UDFA's, journeymen veterans, CFL projects, etc. to fill significant voids on the roster.

You just don' t get it....Its NOT about these two chumps. Its about the whole off season "plan." You like JAGS, especially on the OL. Just wait how that one plays out. Then maybe you'll understand. Deal is you're too stubborn to admit when you're wrong.

The Chiefs are relatively high wrt the cap and some in-house players they want to lock up. Going back to your analogy, high-priced free agency can't be a primary source of income either. At best, it's the moonlighting you do on the weekend.

I know you won't believe me, but money actually is an object. I'd rather see the Chiefs manage the cap for the long term than blow it out for a 2 year window.

It's been 20 years since we won a playoff game.

Just how 'long term' are you talking about?

We made the playoffs and should have won our 1st playoff game in forever. We should have be going ballz out in EVERY facet of the offseason this year.

All out in free agency
All out in Draft for players that can win now
All out in signing scrubs off the street

WIN NOW while our best players are still ready(Charles,DJ,Hali etc)

Another 5 year plan in the works :banghead:

I'm not interested in that kind of plan, sorry. I'm interested in building a solid foundation for a multi-year run of contention, not going all out so we can quickly revisit the post-Vermeil rebuild years.

The Chiefs aren't the Royals. They don't have to sell out for a couple of long-shot years at making something happen.

They also aren't the Broncos. They don't have to make hay during the remaining window of a superstar QB.

I love Charles, Hali, and DJ, but they're not the kinds of players that you sell out your future to take advantage of.

Besides, this "20 years" you seem so concerned about only include a little over 1 year with the current administration. The change that was made to hopefully end that 20 year run of poor results has already been made. Now it's time to let the new guys build something new.

93 season.

4 EXPANSION teams have gone to a super bowl since then. Not won a playoff game, gone to a ****ing SB.

Every single team that has ever been a part of the AFCW has gone to a super bowl since we won a playoff game (Including the Bucs and Seahawks.)

Almost 1/2 the teams in the league have gone to or won a SB since the last time we won a playoff game...

Cool. Keep it up. Meet the quota and the NFL might grant the Chiefs honorary playoff winners.

Looking at various forums and their posting history shows that, with regards to players actually brought in, a fair number of fans get it right more often than their teams' GMs.

Do you think the Lions' fans who were howling about Millen's moves were way off base, for example?
