I'm back to FireFox and avoiding Chrome for now...
Google Chrome seems to be having issues and it's not just me. There seems to be a problem that started last summer/fall and has just now shown up for me. Several "resolving host" and "website not found" problems on a consistent basis. I've done some of the "fixes" that have been recommended but those fixes don't last.
Does anyone here have a solution? I've looked everywhere and the consensus is that it's a Chrome issue that hasn't been resolved. For now, FireFox works fine. I prefer Chrome, but not with these recent problems. |
Strange, I haven't had the problem. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling?

No Internet Explorer?

Sounds like a weird DNS issue. Set your NIC to use 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4

On Chrome, I keep have an ad (audio only) pop up. I close the window and it goes away. It comes on a couple times a day.

I blame porn.

Chrome is getting worse with every successive release.

I'm back to Firefox as well, but because I'm moving away from Google. Having my browser, my search engine, my calender, my e-mail, my phone, the camera on my phone, my photo sharing site, and my work's version of all of those, linked, has its cutesy advantages, but when I started seeing targeted ads based off of one show up on another, with no way I know of to get rid of them, it started getting a little too Minority Report for me.

Ive been using Firefox for a while now simply because of the ability to change the look and feel of the UI to almost whatever I want.

Does anyone know how extensions work?
I have youtube options extensions installed [great extension let's you customize almost everything about video streaming, turn on/off ads, annotations, comments, autoplay, autoHD, buffering, etc.] Said they're going to monthly subscription soon, does that mean they can shut down what is installed on my PC, or is this for new/updating customers. It's neat to have the control, but not THAT big a deal to end it. |

They can't really make you uninstall it or anything, they'll just make your version incompatible. |
When I try to open chrome it takes 10-15 minutes to do what should normally take a couple of seconds. I've tried some things to fix it including uninstalling and reinstalling chrome yet the problem persists. Anyone else having this issue and know a fix?

I've been chrome exclusive for several years, probably within a month of introduction.
I've noticed 3 problems, 1 resolved, but don't know if the other are necessarily chrome. 1. Drudge refreshes distractingly often, so quickly that I can't take the headlines in. 2. Similarly Huffpo, after 5 minutes or so start refreshing and rearranging individual tiles bewilderingly swiftly, like one of those game show boards, where you get glimpses of part of the puzzle, almost like your screen is twinkling. 3. [Resolved] Youtube vids wouldn't maximize and would instead resize 3/4 screen and freeze. |
I like Chrome. It's a shame I had to stop using it. My Mac kept getting the beach ball of death and I couldn't figure out what it was. Didn't realize that the task manager was getting abused with "Chrome Helper" running up huge memory to run.

I bailed on chrome when the adblockers stopped working among other shit...but I'm back.
The chrome app for installing adblockers worked, Chrome has been working well, and the apps have been awesome for my eBay efficiency. Can't complain anymore. |
Chrome is the antichrome now. It has become the new IE.

new version of Chrome still doesn't let me click anywhere in the top 1/8 of an inch when in full screen mode

One of the several things that annoy me about chrome these days is that the mouse scrolling is jerky has hell even with smooth scrolling activated. I don't understand that at all.
