SceneItAll Tournament: Round 1, Heat 60

The rules:

In Round 1, I'm going to put up three randomly selected scenes from the nomination thread.

You'll vote for your ONE favorite scene among the three. The key here is FAVORITE. We're not talking about the 'best' or 'most powerful' or 'most meaningful'. We're talking about the scene that you most enjoy watching, however you define that.

The winners will move on. I'll also take the 10 highest-scoring second-place scenes and they'll advance as wild cards.

Some of our nominations did not include clips. This will be noted. If you find a clip, please post it and let me know so I can update it if it moves on.

I hope this is the right scene. It's the ending, and that was what I have as being nominated. The original nominated clips have been shut down.

<iframe width="640" height="360" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/GSOlQRjlyn4?feature=player_embedded" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Sorry the sound is a little low on this clip. Not much I can do, but you can still hear it.

My votes:

#1 - Napoleon Dynamite. Not the best scene in the movie, but still pretty good. It barely wins this heat in my book.

#2 - Inglorious Basterds. I love the Texas-Italian accent, but I must admit that this scene confused me. The Nazi guy is really smart. Was he really fooled, or was he just toying with them? I don't remember how the scene turned out. Maybe if he was just toying with them I would move this up to #1.

#3 - Unforgiven. Note my general disinterest in murder scenes. It applies here.

TLO 02-15-2014 07:31 PM

Napoleon gets my vote.

Yes, he was just toying with them.

Unforgiven's ending is classic. Have to go with it.

ThaVirus 02-15-2014 11:26 PM

That Nazi douche was a sinister bastard. I think he ended up choking that chick to death shortly thereafter..

Unforgiven

Unforgiven should be a contender to win it all.

Edit: Actually I take that back. I just clicked on it. This scene starts AFTER all of the awesome. Want to change my vote.

This...This scene should start before the gunfight. That dialogue is the best part of the movie

Whew, I was getting worried about the results last night, Unforgiven was barely winning... love me some Napoleon, but that final scene with Clint barging into the posse meeting is as badass as it gets.

Mama Hip Rockets 02-16-2014 01:03 PM

Gorlami.

BlackHelicopters 02-16-2014 03:40 PM

Anything with Clint usually is a crowd favorite.

William Munny has the potential to go all of the way, there isn't a more gritty, gutty scene in all of moviedom than him busting up their little hunting party.

Best western of all time, IMO.

You need to watch the clip. It's not what you think.

Christoph Waltz stole that movie.

Know what? you're right, it doesn't include the best part.

Rain Man 02-17-2014 07:49 PM

Sadly, Unforgiven moves on with its legacy of violence, while two good funny scenes fall by the wayside.

Such a great movie. Your squeamishness is making you miss out on some of the all-time great movies.

But it's not funny at all. Why would I watch a movie that doesn't make me happy?

Is it possible to swap with the full clip for the next round? It's Eastwoods exchange prior to the gunfight that is the reason people love this movie. Pretty sure most voted without watching just assuming that was the clip. Cause yeah, what happens after the shoot out is of relatively little value.

wazu 02-17-2014 08:38 PM

I may be caring too much about this, but here it is...

Y'know, I almost used that clip but my notes said it was the ending scene. It does sound like people are thinking it's the scene before, so I'll switch it out unless someone objects.

And shame on anyone who's voting without watching each of the scenes. They're missing out on some good ones.

Happiness doesn't just have to come from a joke. Tension, suspense, drama, thrilling action, etc., can also bring "happiness."

How do you feel about The Three Stooges? Not the meh movie, but in general? Funny, yet so very violent.
