How many days are you working Christmas week?
With Christmas right in the middle of the week next Wednesday, a lot of businesses will take that as a good reason to be closed on some extra days other than just Christmas or Christmas Eve.
So how many days are you working next week? Lets just call it Sunday through Saturday. Working any weekdays at all? Perhaps you are going to work the weekends to avoid working during the week? Will you have even more than those seven days off? Lets hear it! |
I work for the government.....and I only have Christmas day off.
It's not so bad considering that I'm pretty much one of two people left in the office....so it's nice and quiet. |

I booked vacation so that I would have the 23rd through the 1st off.
And then a customer released a large RFP and I got ****ed by mgmt. I'm taking my vacation, don't care what they say. |
RFP= Request for Porn?

I'll have all week off (teacher). My wife's business is open up until Christmas Eve, then we're heading out of town until after New Year's, though she'll have some of her girls open the shop while we're traveling (so she'll be dealing with work related bullshit on the road, as will I).

Happens all the time. IT guys don't want to work over the holidays and the surest way to make sure it doesn't happen is to make sure the holidays fall during the RFP quiet period. They released a bid worth potentially $250M on December 4th with a due date of January 10th. On top of that, me and my team suggested approach "X" for our response and our mgmt said "No, we're going with Y". Despite the protestations, we spent like 150 hours over 10 days crafting the "Y" response so that we could be done before the holidays. Then on Friday, mgmt says "Hey, we want to win this bid, we're going with approach 'X' now". |
So you're taking approaches "F" and "U"...

1 day. Monday.

All but Wednesday. I love working xmas, everyone in my dept is out but me. 3 hour lunches, surfing the web, trolling for office skanks, leaving at 3:30. Plus, I hate my kids so there's that.

Work increased due to shortage of positions not being filled, plus adding more additional work that is not in our scope. Overtime taken away, which hinders the process. I agree with your bolded assessment, because when we had OT, I used it to actually, work, to get the damn old cases out as quick as possible. |
I have to work Monday - Took Tues Off - Christmas is Wed - I took off Thurs - Have to work Friday.
BUT! I work from home so NBD |
I'll come into the office for a little bit on the 23rd, and then I am done until Jan 2nd. **** the Man!
|
Off from the 20th till the 6th.
|
I am working 5 by your criteria. I start on Tuesday the 24th and work 7 nights in a row. Get off Tuesday morning New Years Eve.
|
In my business, you work every holiday except for Christmas day, and Thanksgiving day. All of them.
This year, somehow we got Sun-Wed off. (I think its because we dominated the sales market in the state of MO by 5000 units~) So I'm working only 3 days next week. Its a Christmas miracle! |

We get paid holiday off for Christmas Day and then I'm also taking vacation on Thursday. I'm working 3 out of the 5 days next week.

I'm working Tuesday & Thursday through Saturday
|
Technically none. I squirreled away my vacation for the end of the year so I am off from Friday on. However, I am never really THAT on vacation and do email and return calls at least a couple of times per day. Better than letting it pile up and snowball on me on Jan 2 every year.

I can count both jobs, right? |
I'm going in Christmas Eve for three hours, pretty much just to get out of the house, have some coffee, and check the scores in peace.
Otherwise, I'm off from this Saturday through the 6th of January. |

Every day but Christmas day. Only slackers take the surrounding days off.

Four and about a half, most likely. We try to leave early on the 24th, have off the 25th, but it's my week to work Saturday.
|
I'm working Sunday, Monday, Tuesday (double time and a half) and Thursday.
We may be forced in to work Friday. Not sure yet. |
As a teacher, I love having ten days off with my family for Christmas each year. One of the best parts of the job.
|
if my bid scheduled for friday doesn't get moved I will probably work Monday to get the next package out the door, then take off Tuesday and maybe Thursday.
if the bid gets moved, who knows. i remember years ago when I was working holidays as a carpenter, we were working on the Topeka Best Buy. The superintendent came out and asked my brother what it would take to get the guys to work Thanksgiving and Christmas. Everyone huddled up and came back with triple time, plus dinner. They paid it. And then best buy threw in emplyee discount for everyone for 6 months once the job was done, and a 50% off one item coupon. Twas awesome. That was the only time we ever worked either. |

I took this week off as my last week of vacation for the year as I get all new time off Jan 3rd. Plus the company I work for is always closed Christmas thru the New Year. So I'm getting 19 days off paid. :thumb: |

Last day is this Friday, go back Jan 2nd. 3 holidays, 4 weekend days, 5 vacation days to get 12 days off. If kids weren't coming home for Christmas I would save it for when the weather is nicer. |
Only have Christmas off.
|
I'll be working every day but Christmas. Nearly everyone on my staff is taking the week the week off, so I figure someone should be there to man the fort.
I actually don't mind it, because it's very quiet and I can get a lot of work done. |
From around noon on the 24th til jan 6th. Its good to be on top.
|
I work in medicine, days off are few and far between with practically all holidays not able to take off...obviously my wife loves my job.
|
Only have Christmas off. Postal Service. If you hear ringing at 9pm on Christmas Eve, its me getting every single parcel out!
|
I'll work probably a half day christmas eve and have christmas day off, work the rest of the week.
|

I work 4 nights a week M - Th so two weeks in a row I have Tuesday Wednesday off. Sucks that we have to come back into work on Thursday but I'll take it.
|

|
I'll probably take off the 24th around noon. Probably go back in around noon on the 26th. Or whatever. Kinda depends how many bottles of Tank 7 are in my basement.
|
Monday and half day friday
|
I'm off until January 2nd after Friday. Yuss.
|
I'm off until I find another job.
|
Not working any days. My goal is to watch every college football bowl game this year. I realize some of them overlap, but I hope to watch at least a portion of each bowl.
