Anyone here doing the E-Cig / Vape thing?

Thanks to my vape, I've had only one single cigarette in the past 3 weeks. I have zero cravings for them and I feel considerably better. In fact, I still have about 5 smokes left in a pack and just can't see myself smoking those... don't want to.

Even better... 5ml of juice, which costs $5, lasts me about 2 weeks meaning that I am spending less in the long run. I only smoked, at most, a pack a week... but still.

I tried the Blu E-Cigs but they were terrible. Trying to "smoke" out of one of those was like trying to take a hit off a joint that was rolled WAY to tight.

I'm using an eGo-V v2 mega battery with variable voltage control with a gravity tank.

I tried some of the cheap ones no good
my boss is using one that looks like a pipe and says it works

he is a little more prone to outbursts now
but we have a mother of a deadline right now

aturnis 11-17-2013 03:44 AM

How exactly does the eGo-V suffer from blu? I've talked to a bunch of people including family who couldn't make the switch to the blu. What were the drawbacks and how is eGo better?

Been thinking of getting some sort of portable vape myself for a different reason.

I had 3 major problems with Blu. First, you have to suck on it with enough force to pull a golf ball through a garden hose to get any smoke. Second, after about 20 puffs... it starts tasting like burnt electronics smell. Third, the cartridges don't last very long and are expensive for the amount of smoke you get.

As for the vape. There is no difficulty in taking a drag and each drag produces a nice amount of smoke. Better yet, it hits the back of your throat almost like a cig does. Also, you don't have to buy new cartridges each time... you simply refill the tank with juice that costs far less than the replacement cartridges.

crazycoffey 11-17-2013 04:07 AM

And you can find replacement juice with THC in it....

Lol

I've heard many mixed reviews. Seems the cheaper e cigs are crap but spend a little more upfront and get your cravings met. Like you said PR. I've been thinking about the switch.

Psyko Tek 11-17-2013 04:21 AM

dumbest ****ing habit I ever picked up
leaving dead hookers in the dumpster was much easier to quit than smoking

mdchiefsfan 11-17-2013 05:28 AM

I currently use an Ego twist and have been without cigarettes for quite some time (see my sig). I love it, the only thing that sucks is trying to find the right juice. They can taste amazing at first, but after a day or so the flavor can get boring. I currently only use three flavors and I need to start searching for more before they get boring.

If anybody is interested in doing this and has any questions, I would be more than happy to help. I've done quite a bit of research on the topic.

FlaChief58 11-17-2013 06:33 AM

I've been using mine for about a year now and love it. I order my juice from here http://www.mister-e-liquid.com/ They have a great variety and they taste better than anything local I've found.

I really like them. I have a local spot that has a few great flavors too: www.vaporsknoll.com. I highly recommend dumber juice, pon-pon, cracked, and cracknotic. I use cracked on almost all of my juices. It tastes like sugar, basically. I use it to sweeten juices that I feel need it.

mdchiefsfan 11-17-2013 07:26 AM

What tanks are you guys using? I use Kanger mostly. I love the Protank and the Protank II mini. It keeps me from having to buy a shit ton of different coils for replacement. With these coils running at $1.75 a pop and being bottom fed I am a happy customer.

Chief Roundup 11-17-2013 07:38 AM

The most you have smoked is a pack a week and you can't just put them down cold turkey?
WOW. This should be extremely easy. You were not even smoking 3 cigs a day.

FlaChief58 11-17-2013 07:47 AM

I use the gator vapor tanks that can be rebuilt for about $1.50. Considering how much money I save by not buying cigs, I ain't bitching

all I see is gator vapor as a vendor, do they make their own tanks?

Dunit35 11-17-2013 07:51 AM

My father in law runs a vapor store. Dude makes a lot of money off of it right now. Makes his own juices in house.

The only problem with those is that if the government decides to tax it like cigarettes, nobody will save that money from it. But if you are doing it to quit it wouldnt matter anyways.

Good for him. I wanted to try and get involved in it, because there is money to be made in getting people off cigarettes, but I couldn't find a decent launch point. So I decided college.

I get them locally here so I'm not sure. They may just put their name on them

These?

mdchiefsfan 11-17-2013 08:09 AM

http://www.litecigusa.net/Kangertech...-protank-2.htm

Try one of these bad boys out. They are bottom fed unlike the ones I pictured above so you can burn the liquid at a higher voltage without drying out the wick and getting that nasty burnt taste.

The tank is made of pyrex so you can put citrus and cinnamon in there without etching your tanks. Plus the thing lasts for an eternity and I have yet to spring a leak with this tank. I haven't had gurgling or juice come back up the mouth piece either.

The only downside to these is the tank holds about 1.2 ml of liquid. So I fill it up almost every day, but worth it for the tank. The replacement wicks work on the larger size protank as well.

The initial cost seems a bit high at $13.99 but that comes with a replacement coil as well.

Those are CE4 clearomizers, or called "stardust" clearomizers, those are the go to for most people. I used them but with it being an upward fed tank it kind of works against itself in my opinion.

I found that keeping the tank full is the key to happy vaping and longevity. I never let it get below 1/2 empty. I keep 5 on hand so I can change flavors whenever I want

I asked a physician about these and she was strongly against them because there's been no research into their safety, no way to know what's in the chemicals you're inhaling or in the device itself, etc. Supposedly most of them are made in China or the liquid is sourced from China.

That's why I only buy American made juices that are made to order. I figure it can't be worse than tobacco.

My girlfriends mother was a smoker for 30+ years; after a month of vaping and not smoking her doctor was amazed at how clear her lungs sounded.

We know that cigarettes kill. I'll take the uncertainty and the results for now.

http://vaperanks.com/do-e-cigarettes...in-antifreeze/

Quote:

Let’s start at the beginning. In 2009, the American Food and Drug Administration tested just 18 e-liquid cartridges from 2 electronic cigarette companies, and was quick to report that one sample contained diethylene glycol, a chemical used in industrial antifreeze that is toxic to humans. What they forgot to mention was that the levels found in the examined cartridge were nearly untraceable (around 1%), and certainly nowhere near the danger level. Still, diethylene glycol is NOT an e-liquid ingredient, so it shouldn’t have been found at all. Because the dangerous substance was found in one of the 18 samples, and more recent tests failed to detect it in any other e-liquids, some experts concluded it might have been contaminated in some other way. You can be sure no reputable e-liquid vendor is going to sell toxic products. They do strict tests and have quality control in place to ensure only the purest of ingredients go into their e-cigarette juices. Today, four years after the FDA’s report, there have been no cases of diethylene glycol poisonings worldwide, so I think it’s fair to say it’s not a problem worth worrying about.

Oh, trust me; I still smell cigarettes and think they smell good. I guess I'll always have that. Some people are lucky and grow disgusted with it. Not me. But I just remind myself to not fall back into that hole.

That's weird. Whenever I've quit cigs for a few weeks (and eventually gone back like an idiot) I hated the smell that was left in my car and clothes. It's not fresh cig smoke that's really gross, it's the old smell of them left in cars and what not.

Oh yea the old smell of it is awful. But when someone lights up... Jesus, does it smell good.

Been using ecigs for about 6-7 years now. Love em. I'm, slowly, decreasing the nicotine in the juice and hope to stop complexly within the next year.

I will be honest and say they aren't as satisfying as a real cig, BUT they help with the addiction of the motion and nicotine. I have always and still LOVE cig smoke (always have liked the smell and taste), but I don't like the after smell.

I'm glad I stopped smoking and the ecig has helped greatly! I wouldn't turn back now.

Interesting this thread came up. I quit for over a month and never craved a smoke when I was vaping with my Njoye 500. Got it from cignot.com. Then my house got broken into and I went out and bought smokes and haven't quit since. That was almost 4 years ago. It took me a few days to get used to it, and I smoked with it for a little under a week. When I got it down though and the hit felt just like a smoke, I never turned back.

Told the wife today I was going to do it again, and bought one of the new fangled ecigs. It's harsh as **** which I don't remember, but I'm sure I'll figure this one out as well. Good luck to all! I smoke 2 packs a day and sometimes more, so I'm looking forward to not only saving the money, but also getting that great feeling back in my lungs! It's pretty important really. I can't justify the cost of my heavy smoking habit if we're moving to a place where the price of my brand doubles. I'm not paying 10k a year to ****ing smoke! **** that noise!

Start off with this or something like this (this battery needs to be charged once a day, with variable voltage so you can adjust your battery to your juice):

http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/291008324337?lpid=82

Get an extra battery:

http://www.litecigusa.net/Joye_ego_c...twist-1000.htm

Get about 4 tanks, I recommend getting the Ohms at 2.2 to go with the batteries.

http://www.litecigusa.net/Kanger_MT3...er-mt3-kit.htm

Get about 5 flavors you think sound good:

http://www.mister-e-liquid.com/

And enjoy

24 mg. Probably too much. I had no idea that the nicotine % determined how strong the hit is. But my wife swears that's what it is. Oh, and I don't like flavors. I've always smoked 1 brand of smokes and that's it. Marb reds. So that's the fluid I buy as well. Not the same, but close enough. :)

Marb red = 1.8% or 18- go with that and that should take down the throat hit.

Even if you have to go to a lower nicotine level, just to tolerate it, you can hit it more and it's still healthier for you. Just remember: you have your 2.4 if you find yourself in a dire situation, which is key.

I only smoked one brand and it was menthol. I can't stand menthol e-juice. Try some stuff, you might surprise yourself and in my opinion you should never look for anything that reminds you of your old cigarettes; you won't find it. Just accept the change and realize the flavor is a part of that. Honestly the exploration of juices turned it into a bit of a hobby for me and made the transition more enjoyable.

Sooner or later you'll find yourself saying I need my e-cig, not a cig and it's all down hill from there.

Haven't tried it. I started on V2 and made a quick transition to eGo. I have heard some pretty decent things for them, but you are kind of pegged into their products if I recall.

It's not necessarily. It's what kind of cigs you smoked not how much. If he smoked unfiltered I would say go 24 or 36, but he would just have to puff 18 more than you or me, much like he does with his cigarettes.

they don't have liquid refills either, you have to buy cartridges

Mr. Flopnuts 11-17-2013 06:07 PM

My problem isn't the throat hit. This is actually kicking the shit out of my lungs. And I mean like immediately as I start hitting it, I start coughing like a mother****er!

Yea that is the downside. Going with a 510 thread (I believe the one you mentioned is an 808) you can really go out an see what other companies have to offer. Then you can get other flavors from vendors that specialize in making it. The freedom to choose where and who you get your juice from makes the experience much better, IMO

Oh LMAO That goes away after awhile. Much like you coughed with your first cigarette, you do with this. That takes about 2-3 days to go away. You start to actually notice a difference if you stick with it for a day.

mdchiefsfan 11-17-2013 06:12 PM

I think I know what you are doing... Are you pulling the vape right into your lungs like a joint?

Heh, the last time it was the opposite. It took me a week to actually learn how to get a hit where I could feel it. And yeah, it won't take that long because while I am smoking with it like last time, I am just coughing like a mother****er. LMAO My wife is amused. I told her I'd get used too it, and you've just reinforced that.

I started out with 24mg and had the same one he's using (I was a pack a day smoker). It took a couple of days for me to stop choking when I hit it. Now I'm using 18mg with the Ego v2set at 3.5.

And yes, I agree he should try different flavors and stay away from the imported shit. It seemed to hit a lot harsher than the handcrafted liquids we discussed earlier

Hey, thanks for the PM dude! That's exactly what I was doing wrong, and while I'm still coughing, it is a lot more natural now! Perfect! I owe you a beer the next time I'm in KC. I'll check out some different flavors. Couldn't hurt. Appreciate the insight today, gentlemen.

Naw, I was dead serious. I was hitting it like a joint. That was the problem. Still really harsh, but I'll adjust. I appreciate the help. Heh, I was trying to figure out your PM about not coughing up a lung, now I get it.

Just picked up some Blue Voodoo from Mr. E Liquid. Can't put it down. It's like a blueberry/blue raspberry flavor, but not super sweet, just right.

Also, I am really huge on these Kanger Pro-Tanks. I am now at 6 months with my first one and have yet to experience leakage, gurgling, or, the worst of them all, juice coming up the air tube. I have changed coils on this 3 times now, and it is working like a champ.

InChiefsHeaven 11-24-2013 08:16 AM

I've been vaping since June. Smoked for about 30 years. I tried a Joy-e 510 about 4 years ago and it really worked well, but the juices were all on line and the batteries would not last long. Then this year a place opened in Omaha called Plumes. There are now something like 5 places in Omaha you can get GOOD ecigs, bigger tanks, bigger batteries, more juices etc.

I am now smoke free. I don't even want a cigarette like I did when I was on the Joy-e. They smell and taste like shit to me. I'm using 11 mg of nicotine in the juice, which is akin to an ultralight cig. Any less than that level and I've found the lack of throat hit makes it rather pointless.

I've tried a few flavors, but I've settled on Ultamint, which is literally like a nice breath mint. My lungs are totally clear. I'm a singer and I do voice work, and getting rid of cigarettes has made a phenomenal difference for my voice.

Went to the Doc for a checkup and told him about them. He was more optimistic about them than cigarettes, and advised me to stay on it with the goal of quitting it too. I guess. But I figure I can pull on this damn thing forever and I'll still be better off than smoking cigarettes by a mile.

Oh. Went hunting this last weekend...was able to vape in the field cuz there's no smell. That was a cool bonus!

If you are a smoker, please please please look into this. I will never smoke a cigarette again. If you find the right kit and juices, you wont' either. Good Luck and VAPE ON!!

I was a pack a day smoker for about 18 years or so. I stopped about 6-7 years ago with ecigs.

i started at 25 mg and now am down to 12 mg. Recently I decided to slow down my use of the ecig. I only use it in the mornings and nights. I'm hoping to be off the ecigs sometime next year.

I get hell from it from everyone, but here is my current get-up:
- The Curve (Nhaler) http://shop.nhaler.com/The-Curve-Reg...teel-curve.htm
- Vivi Nova tank http://shop.nhaler.com/Aspire-Vivi-N...-Tank-1010.htm
- IMR Hybrid 18650 battery http://shop.nhaler.com/IMR-HYBRID-18...attery-969.htm
- Vape Dudes liquid (Espresso) http://www.vapedudes.com/

This lasts all day with only recharging the battery at night.

I also buy some disposable ecigs from litecigusa.net for bars, restaurants, casinos, etc. so people don't look at me like I'm smoking a hooka or something :)

The key is long slow pulls, I'd say 5 seconds or so. Fill up your mouth, then inhale it. The biggest problem people seem to have is understanding that it's not like a cigarette, if you pull too hard it tastes burnt and you don't get the vapor. Once I figured that out, it's been flat out awesome. I'll never go back to cigarettes.

InChiefsHeaven 11-24-2013 11:19 AM

I mentioned in another thread that I had bought one of those cheap ecigs to bring in to arrowhead for the Giants as well as the Raiders. The Chiefs front office would NOT return my phone calls regarding if there would be a problem bringing my ecig in, and I wasn't about to have them try to confiscate it, so I went that route. The gas station ecigs SUCK. Please, if that's all you've tried, go back and research. There are way better options out there.

By the way, it worked until about half time. 2 packs of smokes my ass. that's what they say you get out of the little ones. More like about 4 cigarettes. Each time I tried one they just did not last, but it was good in a pinch I guess.

Good time to quit, it worked for me. I used the ecig for a couple of months then woke up one morning and realized how nasty it tasted. Haven't had a cig in 2 1/2 years now.

Bob Dole has been using NJOY disposables to get him through crap like flights to Philly, 8 hour drives in a state vehicle, etc. $9.99 a pop. Not the same as the real thing, but definitely works well enough to avoid manslaughter charges.

What kind of vape pen. Did it work well? How was the smell?

Gracie Dean 11-24-2013 02:31 PM

have been using it since September 15. I was a little over a pack a day smoker for 25 years. I find I pull on the e-cig a lot more than I ever smoked but it is better than smoking. I am at 24 mg nicotine. I smoked menthols only so I get cowboy menthol juice. One bottle is 25 dollars and lasts almost 2 months. Pretty good considering the cigs I smoked were near 70$ a carton. I didn't care about the money at first but now it is nice to know I am not smoking 400$ a month!

Shouldn't smoke. God doesn't like it.

Used to have a Joy-e, and had the same frustrations (as well as liquid being taxed up the wazoo by customs here in Korea, but that's another issue). If I may ask, what model e-cig are you using these days?

What's everyone's favorite liquids?

My favorites are from www.goodlifevapor.com

My 2 favorite flavors from them are Deadly Sin (Cookie/Cake/Rice Krispy Treat/Cinnamon Bun flavor) and Zombie Blood (Strawberry Gummy Bear intense flavor).

pr_capone 03-02-2014 04:16 AM

I only use one flavor and that is RY8. If I could find a Lucky Charms flavored vape, though, I would be all over it.

Can't be as bad for you as Cigs
