NFL to look into -Taunting to Nullify Touchdowns
This would piss a few people off

JFC.
yay! another subjective penalty/call. |
That would be the dumbest thing ever. A taunt after a score has no effect on whether or not that player would have scored or not, like holding or something would. Just ****ing fine them, but negating the score would be absolutely bullshit.
|
Can't let anyones feelings get hurt. We should do away with the MVP award too, so the shitty players don't feel less valuable.
|
Tate should have had his TD taken away.
|
Bad idea.

I think taunting should be mandatory or the TD doesn't count. How's that for a slice of fried gold?!

I'd like to see them have to kick off from like the 5-yard line or something... |

If this happens you will see someone using a high step as a double clutch sort of move and be called for taunting because Dion did it.
|
I predict that there actually is a certain threshold to these rule changes such that people stop watching football en masse.
|
Awww.. did a wittle babay get dey wittle feelers huwwwt?
Grown men can handle it. Everyone does not deserve a ribbon. This is life. Move on. |
Will never happen. Roger Goodell is not this stupid...
|
Hell naw. Bring bad team endzone celebrations while they're at it.
|
That's a dumb idea.
Taunting should be a penalty, enforced by letting the taunted player(s) hit and kick the penalized player for 30 seconds, and then maybe 5 yards. |

|
suspend him for a quarter or half. lol
|
A little off subject, but why is it Seattle is so full of these arrogant pricks who can't seem to act like they've been there before? Golden Tate, Richard Sherman, somebody needs to go Stevie Johnson vs. Eric Berry on these guys.
|
Son of a bitch.
If they want to enforce this horribly stupid rule and show they're serious, then assess after the kick return. Even that is beyond stupid. |
I personally like taunting, I think it's funny as hell. And hurts far less than getting your knee blown out by Stevie Johnson who was neither penalized nor fined.
|
KILL GOODELL NOW!!!!
|
Old white guys don't like all that loudness. The taunting was awesome and they should bring back the TD celebrations as well.

Dude wtf? If you allow a touchdown then you DESERVE to be taunted
|
I don't think they should nullify TD's if the taunt occurs after the score...however....when Golden Tate was running down the sideline waving his hands around at the defender like some kind of bundle of sticks, I was hoping that they would take the score away. No place for that shit in the game.

Seattle does seems to have some real jerks on that team. They've got the opportunity to be a popular team, but they're blowing it. |
I hope Goodell gets A.I.D.S.

EDIT: Nevermind. I hadn't viewed the story yet, GIF in there of Tate's run. |

Funny thing is he almost stepped out like a dumbass. Hate that dude. That team has taken on the identity of it's coach...a snobby, cocky asshole. Granted, he gave Tate a good talking to about the taunt, but still. |
If we can not vent our build up, of the week's frustrations on players with pus filled egos. What good is a football game?
**** YOU GOLDEN TATE YOU PUKE STAIN ON HUMANITY There. The world is now a better place. |

This league should have merged with the XFL when they had a chance

I have a better idea: If a player taunts a team and scores then all fans of the taunted team get a free beer provided it is before the 3rd quarter. If it is after alcohol cut off they get free nachos and a gift certificate for a free beer at a later date.

The NFL should do what the NHL does and put players into a penalty box. Holding you get put in the box for 3 downs. Taunting your out for 10 downs.

11 on 10 defensively? That would suck. Or, in the case of our offense, level the playing field. :D |

Probably a safety on Defense? Maybe FB on offense? A WR? |
I dont have a problem with this if it's like the college taunting rule.
|
Can't allow taunting. It might fracture some fragile egos and set a bad example for society.
|
When did the league become so politically correct? IF there is one thing I hate, its mixing one of my favorite past times (watching football) with politics.
Are we afraid of hurting peoples feelings? Its football for christ sakes! Who cares if people get their feelings hurt! Just wait guys, eventually they'll start calling for home crowds to be quite because it gives the home team an unfair advantage. Its coming! |
That would be really stupid.
|
I think the game might be more entertaining if taunting was REQUIRED upon scoring a touchdown. Things such as slapping the opposing coach's mama in the stands; urinating on the football, simulating sex with the goalpoast, or team twerking.
Just my humble suggestions to improve the watchability of America's sport.... |
It's the pinstripe bowl all over again.

For example, B. Albert gets called for holding, he's in the box of a set number of downs. Now KC has to figure out who is playing LT. So you now have a lesser talent at a position that the opossing team, in theory, exploit. Thoughts? |
Quote:
Taunting IS why we play sport... |
I think the only people getting their feelings hurt are the fans. I doubt the players care much.

Bad over-reaction. The most I would go for is an ejection and a 15-yard penalty from the end of the kickoff. In other words, 15 yards back from where the kickoff return ends.
But Golden Taint should be kicked in the face for that act of dumbassery. |

It would be a fun idea if there weren't so many shitty calls made. |

i like the hockey idea for serious fouls like hits to the head and fights. makes it more of a team game, it would seem, though i've never put on a set of pads it my life.
this celebration thing...wtf that makes the game twice as enjoyable. |

GAAAAAAY.
We are men. We are competitive. We taunt each other, we've been doing it since grade school. It's a ****ing sport. Get over it, no one cares about taunting. |

I really don't give two shits about taunting. It fuels rivalries and adds emotion to the game. Nothing better than to see a taunting Bronco get laid the **** out by a Chief. |
They could tack on double penalties. I do not believe in taking scores away but a double unsportsmanlike penalty could wake them up a bit. Enforce it after the kickoff. 15 yards, everybody looks around and says huh, what? 30+ yards, we have a panic on our hands on the other teams next possession.
|
Quote:
The only reason Golden Taint demonstrated that non sense was he KNEW that no one could retaliate on him later on or they would get fined or suspended. In the old days, you would NEVER see a player do something like that because they would end up on a stretcher before the end of the game . . . |
just give them blacks twenty lashes

What does race have to do with this?? So you believe the majority of NFL fans would have been fine with this act if it was, say, Rob Gronkowski doing it? |
**** Goodell. He doesn't seem to understand that this is a show. The players are nothing but dancing monkeys who are paid a shit load to entertain. A shit load that is handed over by the fans or by the networks because the fans watch and then they can make money off the fans.
It is one thing when it comes to safety and I understand that; however, if your goal is to remove the entertainment value out of the game then it will soon be hitting the shitter. |
If you want to punish taunting or excessive celebration, start handing out quarter-long suspensions and dock a quarter of a week's pay. That ought to get the player's attention.
|
If you can't taunt why compete?...

And it's exactly what they are going to do. |

Ray Lewis once had a beautiful quote concerning Chad Ocho Cinco's mocking of his dance. To paraphrase he said, " if you don't want to see that dance, keep them out of the endzone."
