Could be, after all they're just a QB away.

In58men 04-26-2013 05:15 PM

Man why can't our team ever draft a QB early in the draft. Jets did work, great job fellas. At least you're not blind like the Chiefs

BlackHelicopters 04-26-2013 05:17 PM

Got it. Thanks.

They drafted Sanchez early in the draft and now vaGino too. So they have two franchise QBs and win twice as many Super Bowls right?

KCrockaholic 04-26-2013 05:30 PM

Dumb. Even when Geno does hit his stride, it'll take that reeruned team longer than 3 years.

No, they won't. The team is a mess and has no weapons. Geno is playing for a defensive head coach and he will flame out. Three years from now every one of the Deaft a QB regardless guys will be saying "at least they tried"

I can't think of a worse place for Geno to end up in. He doesn't have the mental fortitude to deal with the fans and media in New York.

Jets to consider releasing Sanchez.

"With the second-round selection of Geno Smith, the New York Jets now have a surplus of quarterbacks, leading some sources familiar with the situation to say the team will consider releasing quarterback Mark Sanchez, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Sanchez counts $12.85 million against the salary cap. If the Jets cut him as a June 1 designation, which they can do at any time, the Jets would take a $12.35 million cap hit this year and $4.8 million next year.

There is no offset clause in the contract, meaning they're on the hook for $8.25 million whether he plays for them or not.

Nick Sanchez Jr., Mark's brother and agent, said the Jets have not yet asked the former first-round pick to take a pay cut or proposed a possible trade in the wake of Smith's addition...

All I know is that if new GM John Idzik continues to draft like he did this draft (Milliner, Richardson and Geno were outstanding picks as were the two offensive linemen in Oboushi and Winters and Bohanon was the best pure FB in this draft), they'll have a shot at some success sooner rather than later.

I think that they got six starters from this draft alone and Bill Campbell has a real shot as well.

Chiefaholic 04-28-2013 11:37 AM

I'm almost to the point that I wish Geno would flop just so people here would STFU about him. Geno is a top product out of a VERY weak QB class. Most people on this very board were stating he needs to sit at least a year to adapt to the game and coach up his flaws.

As far as the Jets... That team is in some pretty crappy shape and Geno is in a world of hurt getting thrown to the wolves in New York. It's going to take several years IF Geno defies all odds and succeeds with the Jets.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. It's gonna take several years for Geno to win a SB. Like two or three.

I think the Jets got some good players Sac, but they didn't do what they were supposed to do, which was get some weapons.

They lost Dustin Keller and the only WR on their team that's legit at all is Stephen Hill.

Geno literally has no quality receivers to help him. I think they were praying that Tavon Austin would be there at 8, but went with plan B.

Their defense looks great, but their offense this year is gonna struggle due to an abyss of nothing at the skill positions.

Geno made some stupid mistakes, made some nice throws, and lucked out that the Buc LB lost his mind at the end to put them in FG range.

But I mostly feel the same...
