From now on we will convert 90% of our 3rd and 2 YTG or less, since we can reliably run behind our studly LT!!!!!!

RealSNR 04-24-2013 11:08 PM

You build from the trenches, run the ball well, and make sure your QB does just barely enough to win without making any mistakes, you have yourself a solid football team that will be tough to beat.

Titty Meat 04-24-2013 11:09 PM

I'm calling it now Chiefs trade down and draft Matt Barkleyhttp://img560.imageshack.us/img560/4449/iranmaybe.png

The game is won in the trenches with the coach who never runs the ball!

As Chiefs/Dolphins continue to talk about Albert, side talks about #1 pick continue to heat up. Miami's offer to BA is back loaded heavily

You and I road on the Barkley bandwagon let's finish this thing up my friend. Heres to shocking everyone!

RealSNR 04-24-2013 11:17 PM

Wouldn't be surprised if the Bills take Barkley at 8 or trade back up into the 1st round to go get him. I don't buy this Nassib bullshit. Seems like a coach like Marrone would want to go to the NFL so he could get AWAY from turds like Nassib.

ESPN has a 7 round mock that would drive me to drink. Well, drink more than I already plan to.

Joeckel
Shamarko Thomas, S
Kevin Reddick, ILB
William Gholston, DE
Josh Boyce, WR
Trevardo Williams, DE/OLB
Zach Stacy, RB
Mychal Rivera, TE

The good thing about mocks like this is that they are rarely accurate.

penbrook 04-24-2013 11:29 PM

Wow since 1984 the Chiefs have drafted 7 LTs in the first round and NONE of them signed a second contract with the Chiefs.

More than likely this OT will only be on the Chiefs for 4 years.

Of course, but typically with mocks like this there is a pick or two that I like. Not one of these choices would make me happy where they are selected, except perhaps Williams.

Branden Albert does not count because he was drafted as a Guard.

That is being tid picky can argue he was drafted to be LTotf. Yet it may not matter either way if we trade him away.

Also is only 6 tackles.

John Alt
Brian Jozwiak
Trezelle Jenkins
Victor Riley
John Tait
Branden Albert

Which includes the two biggest busts in team history - Jozwiak and Jenkins.

KChiefs1 04-24-2013 11:42 PM

Ok don't kill the messenger & I know I'll get abused by passing along a rumor that is making the rounds but....

The latest rumor is that Dorsey & Reid have Tavon Austin in the final 4 along with Joeckel, Fisher & Geno. I know crazy talk!

cdcox 04-24-2013 11:43 PM

Approximate Value (AV) is a statistic published by Pro Football Reference that attempts to estimate the contribution of a player to a team's success.

Will Shields and Willie Roaf had the same career AV at 133. There are a total of 6 OT that have AV of 133 or higher. In contrast there are 24 QBs with a AV of 133 or greater. It's a low percentage move to draft an OT at 1.1 if your goal is greatness.

Nope because Dorsey said today 2 of the players are on offense and 2 of them are on defense.

ChiefVOL 04-24-2013 11:49 PM

No one projected to go in the top 10 excites me. I live in Tennessee so I would love to see us trade down and take Cordarrelle Patterson. I know we have other needs but he would be another weapon on offense and the type of explosive return man we haven't seen since Hall left.

The sad thing is Blackledge was no where near the bust those lineman where. Hell the Chiefs made a ton of ****ing 1st round picks worst than Blackledge in the 80s.

Rausch 04-24-2013 11:52 PM

I keep telling myself I have to sleep at some point today but I feel like a kid on Christmas.

Car comes out of the shop, go pay last payment on a loan, go see Iron Man 3 (Man-moment high 5!), and back home for NFL Draft.

Life is good...

Give me a random top 5 QB from the 1983 draft ever time over Bruce Matthews. Every time. You have to take risks to have success.

You should get out more. Maybe leave the state once in awhile?

It was just wishful thinking... I've seen him play a lot. I know we will end up with Luke ****ing Joeckel ... well until he gets cut after multiple disappointing seasons.

And Joeckel at #11.

This is the first draft I can think of where no one has a ****ing clue who will go #1.

I love Dorseys secretive ways.

KChiefs1 04-25-2013 12:24 AM

This draft is going to be so crazy... All the players are tightly bunched & some teams have a player on their board higher than someone so any pick is possible. Dorsey is playing it close the vest & not releasing anything. I think it's going to be fun!

I'd like to see the Dolphins bite on that 1st pick & give Dorsey exactly what he wants.

i like it. every team in the top 10 has uncertain ways to go. its fun, nerve wracking, but fun.

KChiefs1 04-25-2013 12:28 AM

Elite prospects:
These players should earn Pro Bowl recognition early in their careers and rank among the top five players at their respective positions within two or three years.

1) Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
2) Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
3) Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
4) Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
5) Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama

Blue chips:
These prospects are regarded as difference-makers based solely on their talent. They should start as rookies and make immediate contributions to their respective teams.

1) Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
2) Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
3) Dion Jordan, DE/OLB, Oregon
4) Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia
5) Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
6) Ezekiel "Ziggy" Ansah, DE, BYU
7) Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
8) Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
9) Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
10) Keenan Allen, WR, Cal
11) Alec Ogletree, LB, Georgia
12) Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
13) Sylvester Williams, DT, North Carolina
14) Kenny Vaccaro, S, Texas
15) Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame

The blue-chip class is established through film study and workouts. Scouts spend a significant amount of time determining whether each prospect has the requisite critical factors (traits like athleticism, football intelligence, explosiveness and production) to develop into a difference-maker. Blue-chip players dominated the college competition, for the most part, while exhibiting the traits that traditionally translate into long-term success at the NFL level.

Red-chip players, on the other hand, demonstrate several blue-chip qualities and characteristics but lack the consistent profile of their blue-chip counterparts. Whether it's because of sub-standard physical dimensions and athleticism or inconsistent on-field performance, players in the red-chip category are regarded as being a notch below elite. In the right system, however, they could emerge as Pro Bowl players. Several of these prospects will hear their names called in the first round, though scouts across the league are divided in their opinions as to their pro potential.

Red chips:
These players should contribute as part-time players initially but should be starters by the end of the season. Additionally, they should be key contributors on special teams and provide timely playmaking in their designated roles.

1) Barkevious Mingo, DE/OLB, LSU
2) Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
3) Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
4) Manti Te'o, LB, Notre Dame
5) Eric Reid, S, LSU
6) Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
7) Matt Elam, S, Florida
8) David Amerson, CB, N.C. State
9) Robert Woods, WR, USC
10) Margus Hunt, DE, SMU
11) Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
12) Eddie Lacy, RB, Alabama
13) Matt Barkley, QB, USC
14) D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
15) EJ Manuel, QB, Florida State
16) Le'Veon Bell, RB, Michigan State
17) Menelik Watson, OT, Florida State
18) DeAndre Hopkins, WR, Clemson
19) Giovani Bernard, RB, North Carolina
20) Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee
