Jets close to getting 13th pick from Tampa
Watching on ESPN, so no link. Revis has to pass physical first.
|
Terrible move for Tampa.
|
Goodbye Geno.
|
If we are not going Geno... which it appears we are not... there was some chatter a week or two ago about the Jets using #9 and #13 to move up to get Geno.
I think I could live with #9 and #13, but I don't expect it to happen. |
Trade back with the jets and grab their second and third this year.

What will he be worth in a trade in two years when he wants a new contract?
|
Revis is done.
|
Only way they'll trade up is if J-Ville is a threat to take Geno.
|
Heard they tried to throw in Marky Baywatch and Tampa balked
|
Kiper just said the Jets are the least talented team in the NFL on paper. Said they don't need to trade up to get a QB either. Should stay put and start building their team, as it resembles an expansion team at this point.

The Jets, in Rex Ryan's first years, built a team in much the same way that the Chiefs have approached this year.
The Dolphins in 2008 did it much the same way. I don't believe the approach taken by Dorsey and Reid here has any real chance to succeed, and is more likely to go much the same as the Dolphins-Jets. |

Rex Ryan's Championship teams were built on defense. Reid doesn't get defense.

Credit to the Jets for going after and starting a rookie QB, but I was pretty clear before that draft that I believed strongly that Mark Sanchez was a guy that should be sat for a minimum of a year, or even better, for 2 years, before seeing the field. |

A 2014 first is more valuable than a 2013 first for the Chiefs.

I would expect to hear a lot of how much the Chiefs love Geno now to get the Jets or Bills to bite this week.

Building your core group through free agency. |
If the Bucs give up their first plus anything it will be a terrible trade.

We traded for the QB, and signed our #2 corner in free agency to fill out our core. And while we didn't pay any single player a huge contract, we spent a ton of money in free agency to shore up a number of positions. |

The difference is now that the Chiefs have filled some of these needs through the FA market. Will they turn their focus to drafting players first and foremost? Reid started his Philly career doing just that and Dorsey comes from a orginazation that focuses almost strictly on the draft. If the Chiefs keep doing the FA dance next year, then one can compare them to the Jets/Dolphins. My guess is we start to become a franchise that focuses mostly on strictly draft.
|
If we are planning to draft Joeckel at 1.1, then I would be happy to trade down with the Jets for their first rounder and a second rounder. It is not fair value on the "value chart" but who cares? Joeckel is not going to improve this team in any meaningful way, so I'd be willing to take a later pick that might force Dorsey to pick a playmaker and get another good pick in the second round (like an ILB or S who would improve our team meaningfully).
Frankly, I'd take their second this year and their first next year. The first next year (as someone else noted) may be more valuable than a first this year, if we are QB hunting. |
Dominik gives up multiple picks for a 1 year rental of a guy with a bad knee. Not good for Dominik.
|
Yep Duminik got it put to him HARD... he officially just became a personal guy for the Jets, helped them far more than the team that will be paying him.

The New York Daily News confirms the "framework" of a trade sending Darrelle Revis to Tampa Bay is indeed in place.
Completion is expected late Sunday or early Monday, pending results of Revis' physical at Bucs headquarters. The physical is taking place today. ESPN New York reports the sides have "agreed to trade compensation," while the NY Daily News' Manish Mehta confirms "general parameters" of a Bucs-Revis contract are "also done." Coupled with Dashon Goldson, the acquisition of Revis will give Bucs defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan an ability to dial up heavy blitzes without fear of opposing wideouts running free in Tampa's backend. Also capable of matching up with Julio Jones, Steve Smith, and Marques Colston or Jimmy Graham, the Revis deal has major implications throughout the NFC South. Related: Buccaneers |
The Bucs are fools for thinking a CB will fix their defense.

@AU_SeanWald *Dorsey is enamored with Jordan. Really torn if Albert isn't dealt that's his pick |
Be funny if Jets got cockstrong and traded 9, 13 for the 1st overall pick for Geno. Keep Albert, use 9 and 13 on Sheldon Richardson and Tavon Austin. Im dreaming ROFL
|
Is he really worth the 13th overall pick? Maybe in this year's draft...
SportsCenter @SportsCenter 12m BREAKING: ESPN reports: Jets & Bucs agree on deal sending All-Pro CB Darrelle Revis to TB; includes 13th overall pick. Deal pends physical. |

The problem they faced is that they drafted lower in the frst round as a result, and didn't find the talent to replace the aging players they initially signed to have those quick turnaround seasons, and their records have declined since. Now, we can hope that Dorsey is a big reason for the Packers recent success at finding guys in the 20s and later that have beocme big time players if the Chiefs find themselves winning as many games as some, if not most here think they can. On the other hand, if Alex Smith plays at the level I expect in Reid's offense, this team isn't going to win more than about 5 games, so that is not going to be a major concern. |

I think we can with 8 with Alex if those things come together. If the defense is average or worse, however, I can see 5 wins. I'm actually quite curious about the running game, because it's entirely possible all this OL shuffling could **** up that too. |

I also think that Cyrus Gray will become the second back and be a big contributor in this offense. But I also think that Reid's offense is going to ask more from Alex Smith than Smith is capable of, and his efficiency is going to take a huge hit, and he will have turn overs and mistakes that will cost this team games. But there's also a chance that Reid begins to recognize Smith's limitations in his offense, and he adapts, and we will see an offense that passes far less, and doen't stretch the field in the way Reid's offenses have in the past, and this team wins 8 games as a result of that adjustment. |

|
We may as well throw in the towel then I suppose.
We already know we're only going to win 5 games due to the acquisition of Alex Smith. I guess we can become fans again in about 2-3 years after Alex Smith is gone. |
Quote:
I got them winning 5-6. The d-line will still get piss pounded with no good NT. Smith is a proven loser when the other team scores 24 or more. If we don't draft Jordan and either Hali or Houston go down for an extended time this team easily picks in the top 5 next year. |

Mevis has landed in Tampa. Gonna be a short 1 year stay for him.

Tampa could swap 1sts with us along with another pick and get a fresh Millner.
This is idiotic. |

1, 3, and a 5 for Revis. This trade makes sense for a team like Denver but Tampa? No.
