This worked wonders for me, thought I'd pass it along.

Immediate amazing results here. HD videos streaming like a boss, I stopped watching youtube for a while it got so bad. Rep for you, kind sir.
|
Agreed. Was getting SO sick of hiccuping youtube even with a beyond sufficient connection
|
Wow what a difference! Thanks! Wonder if this is something you can do on smart tvs?
|
Go into your router settings and blacklist those 2 IP ranges. Then it will work for all devices on your network.
|
Ok. Thanks! REP when my rep recharges. Does this improve Huluplus? That's one we have a tough time with lagging.
|
This is the best ever.
|
Not sure about Hulu. But maybe. The link says this.

thanks!
also, all of you use a blocker to remove the ads before the videos start right? |
it also helps if you open ports 80 and 8080 on your router also.
|
I also found this option for my specific router.

Port 80 is the access point for just about every type of malware invented. Leaving that port open all the time is like having a big red pointing sign saying "**** up my computer please." Internet worms and malware actively scan IPs to see if this port is open, and when it finds one it wiggles right inside very easily. The only reason you should ever ever consider doing such a thing is if you are hosting web based stuff on your computer to serve to the world. And even then, you better have a shit ton of security measures in place. Otherwise there is no reason at all to do that. Generally even that isn't necessary because the computer automatically opens that port to incoming traffic when it's needed, when you have something to host, like a web server. But you absolutely do not want it open other than that. In fact, many ISPs automatically block all incoming traffic to port 80 for their customers, for these exact reasons. If this is a joke, it's not very funny. You could seriously **** up people's computers recommending something like this. |
Yes!! Thanks, I watch YouTube stuff with my daughter on my Xbox. Well, I used to, it's so laggy now I can't use it.

I saw it that day, logged it in my mind thing for later use. Got home from work and forgot about it. Couple weeks later, something jarred my memory and I searched the forum, found it and replied. Thus resurrecting your very helpful zombie thread. Posted via Mobile Device |
This has greatly enhanced my Friday afternoon.

you can enable them one by one according to the source if you are visiting some shady sites you can sort through what you want to allow and what you don't you'd be surprised at how much is connected to a lot of these websites |
Hmm. It worked like a charm last night, but I'm back to shitty YouTube today. I added the rule again, it didn't work. I deleted the rule and added again and it's still not working. :(
|
Didn't work for me.

Don't know if it's related but ever since I installed this, Daily Show full episodes refuse to load. Does anyone know if there's an issue? Confusingly the teaser on the main page plays fine. So it might be whatever calls up the advertisements. Before installing this the commercials were already wonky on that site. Sometimes they'd show the same commercial like 5 times in a row between segments.
