Ryan Swope
I really liked what I saw from this kid whenever I got the chance to watch A&M play this year. Walter has him going somewhere in round 2-4. Anybody else interested if he is there at the top of round 3. I think he can be a Jordy Nelson type player for us.

Not really as he seems to be more of a possession receiver. The Chiefs need someone with speed to be a deep threat.
|
He was a track stud in high school and has some good open field speed, but yeah he isn't really much of a deep threat.. Plays a little small, but he has great instincts. Id take him over McCluster, Wiley.

He's probably closer to...don't shoot me...Wes Welker. He's a better option than McCluster or Wiley but don't really see it as a need. |

He's definitely bigger than Welker but when you watch him play, he moves like a much smaller guy. I like Swope a lot. I just think we have bigger needs. |
FYI, reports out of the Senior Bowl are that Swope is the toughest WR on the field. Hasn't impressed with his catching yet but apparently his run blocking is superb.
|
I know what it is that reminds me of Welker - he takes really short, choppy steps when he's mid-route. He looks like a fullback at times. :)
|
How big is he? Nelson is like 6-3 205 right?
|
There are a lot of Chiefs fans I know who really like Swope. Some have us taking him as high as the second round but, I don't know about that. He seems like a guy we will probably miss on because of where we pick. However, he's definately a baller.

Maybe Hines Ward would be a better comparable. |

Rudy would know for sure, I think he's an A&M fan. |

Swope reminds me of a RB in WR clothing. Nelson isn't that, at all. |

Wilson and Swope on the team would upgrade the toughness quite a bit which this team could use. |

The Welker comparisons are valid IMO because of the short, choppy steps he takes. Also, he's white and all white receivers must be compared to Welker. The inverse of the Rooney Rule, if you will. |

I'm excited to see his 3-cone at the combine and shuttle. Anyone know his hand size?

Swope doesn't have anywhere near Welkers short area quickness nor his acceleration. From 0 to 30 yds Welker is as fast as anyone, he just doesn't have long speed. Swope can catch the ball but in the slot you want someone with better quickness and outside you want someone who plays taller with long speed. He's probably a #4 Chris Horn/Marc Boerigter type of guy.

4.34. Anyone having second thoughts?

I like swope and he'll be a good NFL reciever but we need to take a CB where he will be drafted
|
I thought Swope looked incredibly awkward yesterday. I wasn't impressed by his route running and his hands were just a mess.
Yeah, he was a hell of a lot faster than I expected, but he also looked like a very unnatural player and those kinds of guys get exposed at this level. I think Woods blew Swope off the page yesterday and I think they'll both go around the same time. |
