What is the true purpose of the REP feedback ??
 

I think the rep system is a means for the majority to force their opinion on the minority that disagree with the established lines of thinking. Thus I ignore the negs.

For example, a month ago, if you stood up against the SFL crowd, you were flamed and neg rep repeatedly. Look where they are now.......

I have it turned off as I don't care about rep. However, those that do care and have it turned on, i hand out both + and -.

How do rep comments force anything on anyone? You have to go out of your way to read them. If anybody is intimidated or influenced in any way by rep or by rep comments, they're simply weak-willed.

Members with the most rep are generally funny and/or smart. Members with the least rep are generally idiots, attention whores, trolls, douches, or any combination of those.

The system works. If you have a lot of red, it should be pretty obvious why... the common denominator of all your red is you.

The rep system is here so that the veterans without real lives or friends can stay seated at the Popular Lunch Table without worry of getting bumped for people obviously cooler than them.

Take a look at the names of the people that give out the most neg rep. Plain as day. I would name them, but then they'd be justified in negging me. We all know who they are though.

Perhaps the saddest part is that he's spent time considering rep in a political and philosophical sense.

I'm kind of a pile on neg repper.

I take pride in some of my messages in them and a lot of the time the best part is the private messages I get in response for giving neg rep...or the public messages.

Sometimes, I just get bored and want to have a little fun. Sometimes, that means I go on a neg rep spree for shits and giggles. Some here take rep wayyy too seriously.
