again, that NY Style deli at 'The Venetian' food-court, has phenomenal ruebens.

huge n good - full pickle too.

Bootleggers, is a cool restaurant lounge, a lot of Local acts stop by and impromptu preform, saw Wayne Newton one night singing Karaoke. (South on the Strip about 4 miles up from Luxor. And Dinos (http://www.lasvegasweekly.com/places/dinos-lounge/) , between Stratosphere and Downtown. Very cool old school Vegas lounge. And the Blue Note Bar if your into live Jazz.

J Diddy 01-23-2011 03:36 AM

Oh the rainforest cafe and the house of blues was bad ass.

Over-Head 01-23-2011 03:55 AM

Last time in Vegas I was still trucking. And since the Strip and well for the most part NO city is very truck friendly as far as parking and getting to the "good" spots I'd say the old "Flying J" just off the strip, or the Desert Inn where I unloaded.
Kinda cool parking right by the front doors all day though.

O'Shea's right across the street from Margaritaville.Just a little dive with great drink specials, kick ass bands at night and even a midget who comes out on the bar and gives upside down drinks.

Yeah, probably not a good idea.
Was just being a wise ass (go figure, I know). I hadn't even heard of the place until it was posted in a thread on here. Methinks my Mrs would whack me in the noggin if I even thought of something like that outloud (and deservedly so).

Vegas_Dave 01-23-2011 09:47 AM

Crowne & Anchor british pub. Its down by th university.

DJJasonp 01-23-2011 12:03 PM

Love Diablos (in-between NY/NY and Monte Carlo....right on the strip).

Good food....great scenery....not outrageous prices....and one of the best views from a restaurant you'll find on the strip (2nd floor overlooks the strip, with a view of MGM, NY/NY, and the new Hard Rock restauraunt/bar/club straight across the street).

Gracie Dean 01-23-2011 12:55 PM

Fremont Street at the Slot arama has THE best 1 lb hotdogs. They are great and not very expensive

Gracie Dean 01-23-2011 12:58 PM

There is also a very great steak place inside the 4 queens on the Fremont strip.

The light show at night is awesome too

black angus 01-23-2011 03:10 PM

I always eat at least once at the Bellagio buffet. I pretty much load up on the crab legs and other seafoods. And lots of desserts.

spanky 52 01-23-2011 03:17 PM

The Burger Bar near the Mandalay Bay is really good. The Aria also has a great buffet.

probably not gonna make downtown, but the steakhouse restaurant @ the top of binions is FANTASTIC!!!!

best ribeye that i've EVAH had! (3 separate trips, it's sooooo friggin' good).

Old Dog 01-23-2011 04:43 PM

Ellis Island (2 blocks behind the Bally's near the intersection of Flamingo and Koval)

10oz filet, salad, potato, rolls, and either a Ellis Island microbrew or root beer for $6.99. It's not on the menu though, you have to ask for it.

And if you're needing a quick burger late night, the cafe in the basement of Binions is damn good. One of thee best bacon cheeseburgers I've ever had.

If you're really nuts about buffets, you can pay $36 for a 24 hour pass for all you can eat at the Rio, Harrahs, Ballys, caesars, imp palace (do NOT go here), Paris, NYNY, Planet Hollywood, flamingo, and any other harrahs owned resort. My fam and I did it. We ate breakfast at flamingo, lunch at planet h, and dinner at the rio....then we puked. It was a lot of food, but hey, it's Vegas.

OmahaChief 01-23-2011 05:34 PM

I always enjoy the Golden Steer for a good steak and meal. The place is old school Vegas type of joint.

runnercyclist 01-23-2011 07:16 PM

Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill...fantastic!

'cause it's my thread, and it's right around the corner!

Carlota69 02-24-2011 11:25 PM

Hugos at Four Queens is the best steak deal in town and it has that old school Vegas feel...plus downtown in general is old school and much cheaper than the Strip. I agree with Peppermill as well..a Vegas must.

Dare you to go to Double Down and drink their ass juice...The most infamous bar in vegas. they use to show midget porn on the TVs until the gaming board came along and ruined the fun...:shake:

joesomebody 02-24-2011 11:37 PM

There's a cafe in Binnion's that serves giant chili dogs, chinese food, and shrimp cocktails. They're always open, and my drunk ass always winds up there. Hard to beat the price and it's pretty good food.

Plus, where else can you get a chili dog, egg roll, and shrimp cocktail all in one place?

The cafe at Harrah's in Kansas City is close to the variety, but is about 6 times the price.

DaneMcCloud 02-24-2011 11:49 PM

STRIPSTEAK and Border Grill at Mandalay are both very, very good.

Dos Caminos and Table 10 (Emeril Lagasse's place) at The Palazzo are fine choices, as is N9NE steak house at The Palm.

The possibilities are endless.

free shots at the bar on the hour every hour.

looks like we're staying at the flamingo. i do love margaritaville, although the one in key west was probably the most "authentic".

we have no choice in where we stay, pretty happy since we'll be pretty much right in the middle of everything. last year was circus circus, kinda felt like i was being punished :)

lots of time to plan my friend.
actually, last trip wife and i went on, we stayed at the (remodeled) golden nugget in downtown. we had a friggin' blast!!! quieter, seemed to win more monies, and a little bit cheaper.
we still took a bus to the strip, but the gaming, scenes, and sites all in downtown just seemed a bit more laid back. it was great for a change of pace.

Isn't the Nugget located in the Old Vegas (I don't know the appropriate verbiage).

I know we'll be staying on the actual strip. That's about all I know.

Oh, and we will be there on a Sunday to watch football and drink bloody Mary's all day. :thumb:

yup, old vegas, old town, downtown. poetaytoe, potatah.

i watched a chiefs game at new york new york at the sports book. it was crowded, and i stood for the entire game, but i'll never forget the experience. i also got to watch tv while i took a piss in the bathroom. the espnzone was an interesting place as well, but the gaming at nyny was a bit more pricey for my taste. (that's me being a table snob) ;)

That's the plan for that Sunday anyway.

Drink, place some small game bets, and ****ing draaaaaaaank.

And I must admit I am a huge fan of Diners, Drive Ins and Dives.

There's a place right outside of The strip called Naked City Pizza Shop. They made some nachos on that episode that looked ****ing delicious.

DrRyan 02-26-2013 09:16 PM

If you have a massive night out and need a recovery breakfast (a given, right?) the hash house a go go is your spot. Huge breakfast to remedy a hangover. Gt the sage fried chicken and waffles. Off the strip Firefly is an awesome tapas place that has a great happy hour.

Never peed out of my butthole until I went to the Margaritaville in Vegas. Sorry, just being honest.

Other places I love in Vegas (not necessarily diners, dives, dashes): Bellagio buffet (check yes on the $5 all you can drink champagne option if you go for brunch), Sushi Samba, and Battista's hole in the wall (slightly off strip but right by Flamingo).

Imo you can't go wrong with Harrah's properties and that includes Flamingo,Bally's,The Paris,Caesars,Planet Hollywood and The Rio.Whatever you do make sure you get player's cards and stick them in any and every machine you play or give them to your dealer.Harrah's comp program is very nice and it's good anywhere they have locations including KC and council Bluffs.

I don't gamble a huge amount but my trip next month includes 5 nights comped room,$400 in food credit, show tickets if I want and access to the private lounges for myself and a guest which includes all we can drink and eat.

EDIT also give your player's card to the sportbook when you place any bet as you will get credit for that too.

Iowanian 02-26-2013 11:02 PM

O'shea's is gone.
Bills Casino....Gone.

Last time I was up near Circus Circus and Riviera, the Russian hookers everywhere had about as many different coughs and blisters as they did bruises and needle tracks in their arms. Stay out of that end of vegas.

Last time I was there we went to a local mexican place/sports bar off the strip near a mall South of the Casinos. Big portions and good food. Try to find the name tomorrow.

Psyko Tek 02-26-2013 11:04 PM

Last May for O'Sheas but Caesars officials say O'Sheas isn't gone forever. A new version offering a pub and table games, two hallmarks of the old casino, will beckon people at the entrance of the Linq.

Never be the same though I've got same damned good memories from O'Sheas.

This. Hugo's steakhouse inside 4queens is the best for the $$. Blows the one at Circus Circus away.
Firefly is cool. It's on Paradise just north of the Flamingo.
Double down is infamous. They use to show midget porn on the TVs, but the gaming board stopped that. They're no fun.
You can also check out Don't Tell Mamas on East Fremont/east of lv blvd. singing bartenders. It's fun.
