****OFFICIAL 2013-2014 Fantasy Football Repository Thread****

Let me preface this by saying I'm an idiot. Originally posted this thread in the wrong forum.

So, let's try this again.

This is a thread to tide us FFL'ers until the start of the season.

I've been talking to a bunch of guys lately re: fantasy football. I can't wait.

If you're a hater and don't get or enjoy FF then you can suck a bag of dicks.

How many leagues are you in? What are the buy-ins?

Old Dog you going to Vegas again?

Ceej 06-28-2013 08:49 PM

I'm in three.

A fun family league, $20 buy in.
A competitive, unusual IDP league ran by Mr. Plow, $50 buy in.
A competitive, standard league, $100 buy in.

TambaBerry 06-28-2013 09:28 PM

id love to get into a competitive league, I currently do a family casual league and everyone is always afraid of making trades and really anything other then picking free agents up and setting lineups. Makes it boring.

I hope there's some buy-in involved.

There's no way I could play and enjoy free fantasy football.

Ya but we have only been doing like 5 dollars.

rtmike 06-28-2013 10:15 PM

CP $50 league
CP $100 league

and a few others'. For whatever reason Washington state residents aren't allowed to play in the official $$ ESPN, Yahoo leagues.

The 2 above leagues always end right before Christmas so my girls' always score. Years ago my wife said I was selfish so I remind her after Christmas every year that I've spent the entire amount of whatever I won on them. :thumb:

Since I'm retired/disability, any time extra $$ shows up it's a big occasion for me. ;)

Free leagues are such a waste of time!

Damn you White-E!

Ceej 07-03-2013 11:32 AM

So, in our IDP league we get two offensive keepers (different positions), and one defensive player.

I'm keeping Megatron and Navarro Bowman.

We lose the round pick that the player was picked.

Do you guys like any other potential offensive keepers?

Here's a list:

Vick Ballard
Law Firm
Kendall Hunter
Felix Jones
Brent Celek
Greg Olsen
Janikowski

Terrible, I know. I am thinking Ballard right now - he would only cost me a 20th round pick.

ChiefGator 07-03-2013 02:52 PM

Glad to see some fantasy football popping up here. I'm jonesing as well.

Of course, fantasy football can't be contained in a single thread, and will surely spill out into many.

I'm in the fourth or fifth year of one money league with $100 buy-in and weekly winners as well as the 1st-3rd. We use to be a QB heavy league, but it's gotten a bit better. We still let you start 1 OP, which you can put a QB in. So, you can start two. With 14 teams, that means QB's go quick. 0.5 PPR, and you get points for return yardage.

I'm helping to start a new league with IDP which we may do as a keeper as well, not sure. We haven't quite gotten the rules together on it. Just seems like something different to try.

Ceej 07-03-2013 03:25 PM

I don't mind the various FF threads during the season.

I like the idea of one big repository thread before the season.

Then, a start/sit 'em thread and maybe trade proposal/waiver thread during the season. That way everything is easier to navigate.

I hesitantly joined one four years ago. I don't regret it all. It's so much fun and so different.

Ceej 07-14-2013 03:52 PM

We are looking for a tenth team in a brand new dynasty league.

$100 buy in, no additional costs.

The league is ran by CP's own - Mr. Plow.

The league is also IDP.

Dante84 07-15-2013 09:19 AM

I'm ready to start drawing up my big board, and need some good sites for research.

My goal is to look at 4-5 sites I trust, and find an average ranking for the big board slots before I go in and add my 2 cents.

Anyone got some websites they trust?

Ceej 07-15-2013 04:26 PM

I always use fftoday.com.

I find their website to be pretty accurate and very, very easy to browse.

Any dynasty leaguers here on CP?

Playing in my first this year -- what makes it so much different than a standard league, or keeper league?

Ceej 07-15-2013 09:43 PM

Do you keep Greg Olsen in the 16th round?

Or Vick Ballard in the 20th?

AussieChiefsFan 07-15-2013 10:53 PM

Is anyone making an NFL.com league?

Ceej 07-20-2013 08:08 PM

So, in one of my leagues the keepers were announced.

Keepers include:

Romo, Tony Gonzalez
Welker,
Megatron, Ballard (Me)
Rodgers, Trent Richardson
Ray Rice, RGIII
Forte, Cruz
Wayne, Schaub
Brees, AP
Foster, Matt Ryan
Marshall, Alfred Morris
Newton, Charles

We start 1QB, 2 RB, 3WR, 1 TE, 1k.

Who do you guys target in the BPA pool?

QBs - Manning, Stafford, Kaepernick
RBs - Martin, Lynch, Spiller, McCoy
WRs - Bryant, AJ Green, Demariyus Thomas, Harvin, Julio Jones, Cobb.

I'm really hoping a stud RB falls to me. Maybe McCoy. But, having two stud WRs on my roster doesn't hurt either.

Thoughts?

mrroandrro 07-22-2013 12:03 AM

What is your draft strategy that is proven to win? I am in a standard scoring, snake draft. In standard, I usually start with 2 rb, and wait till at least the 6th to grab a Qb. What has worked for you, and what is your strategy for this year.

Ceej 07-22-2013 05:30 PM

That's a good question. I'm usually a RB whore.

But, I know a stud WR will be there. And we do start 3 WRs.

I'm thinking I will go Lynch, Spiller, or McCoy if they're there. If not, it'll be WR #2.

Ceej 08-07-2013 01:40 PM

My first draft is this Saturday.

And my first ever dynasty draft is this Sunday.

Does anyone have any creative ways of determining draft order?

Texas Hold 'em tournament. Winner gets his choice of draft position, runner up gets second choice, etc

To answer the question in the OP: not doing Vegas for the draft this year, we're probably going to do it again in 2015.

thoughts on CJ Spiller

his OC claims he is going to get worked to death this year..

top 4?

top 10?

am i over excited about his 6 ypc? he only had 200 carries last year and produced 1,200 and 6tds

Top 5. Marrone said he's getting 30+ touches a game this year. Just make sure you have someone capable to step in if he gets hurt.

cool, i'm leaning towards him as a bit of a surprise pick if i have a top 2 or 3 pick in my 8 person league...

I like the idea.

Not sure how efficient it might be. I also forget to mention we won't have everyone there at the actual draft.

Well, not having everyone there would likely put the kibosh on the poker idea. There are numerous different ways to determine it though....depending on when your draft is (let's say it's on the day after all of the preseason games are done just for shits and giggles)...each owner picks winners of the preseason games (or you could use baseball games, Grammy award winners, the stock market, or whatthe**** ever) whoever has the best score in that gets the first choice of pick and so on.

For subsequent years, what my main league does is have a draft bracket playoff for all teams that don't make the playoffs. Whoever wins that has the right to the first pick and so on. It keeps everyone interested throughout the entire season.

We do this as well.

Mav 08-08-2013 10:52 AM

the last money FF I did was when I was in Iraq. We had a 100 dollar buy in, 12 people. I lost in the super bowl. Started the wrong qb, I started Eli manning over mcnabb. still walked away with 500 bucks....

Im doing one this year. I don't know the guys that well at all.

Really conflicted. I want to grab Jamaal Charles, or Trent Richardson in the first round. Tempted to take Calvin though.

Ceej 08-08-2013 01:12 PM

My idea for our draft order for our dynasty league was:

Similar to ping pong. You write a number on the bottom of each cup (1-12) and fill it up with dark beer or liquor.

Each player gets one ping pong ball and shoots it. After everyone has made a ball everyone chugs their drink which then reveals their pick.

However, it is more of a luck thing rather than any sort of skill.

Out of owners would designate people at the draft to shoot for them.

Ceej 08-10-2013 08:57 PM

Just had my first draft tonight. Keeper league. I kept Megatron in first round. IDP.

My team:

Stafford, Bradford
Ridley, Matthews, Richardson, Ballard
Megatron, Bryant, White, Shorts, Givens, Edelman
Olsen
Acquiring a K through FA
Carlos Dunlap
Acquiring a second DL via FA
Bowman, Timmons, Donald Butler, Brad Jones
Janoris Jenkins
mark Barron.

MY WRs are sick!!

We start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3WRs, 1 TE, 2 DL, 3 LB, 1 S, 1 CB, 1 K.

Thoughts?

ChiefGator 08-11-2013 03:22 AM

Okay, so this may sound a bit childish, but.. we determine draft order by placing the draft picks into manilla envelops, laying it out at a local pub, and then choosing. We choose in reverse order of the winners from the year before, so the overall winner picks last (well, gets the last standing envelop).

The only mildly interesting part is that the draft picks are numbers on pages from varying porn magazines. And the quality of the image is directly related to the quality of the pick. So #1 is pretty nice looking, but pick #13 is as hideous as can be found.

:: shrug ::

12 team keeper league.

We were allowed to keep 2 offensive players of not the same position and one IDP.

Your WR's are sick then...

RB's... meh... I'm not high on Ridley and I am positively low on Matthews. But, with Richardson as well, you should get respectable play out of them. I think they will both be low RB1, so that sort of evens out a bit I guess. And I could clearly be wrong about Ridley.

I like Stafford to have another huge year, like he did a couple years ago.

Can't comment on the IDP.

Good team for a 3WR playing league

I like Ridley a lot. Even though I think Vereen might take some of his touches. Also, not a huge fan of Matthews but RBs flew off the board fast. And worst case I can always potentially trade a WR for a RB.

Feeling pretty good about this draft. Obviously the two big variables Are Stafford and Matthews..

the Talking Can 08-11-2013 08:55 AM

i did a yahoo mock draft, 12 people and I had pick #2 (which kinda sucks):

1. C.J. Spiller (Buf - RB)
2. Aaron Rodgers (GB - QB)
3. Reggie Bush (Det - RB)
4. Darren Sproles (NO - RB)
5. Antonio Brown (Pit - WR)
6. Ryan Mathews (SD - RB)
7. Mike Williams (TB - WR)
8. T.Y. Hilton (Ind - WR)
9. DeAndre Hopkins (Hou - WR)
10. Bryce Brown (Phi - RB)
11. Jared Cook (StL - TE)
12. Ryan Broyles (Det - WR)
13. Johnathan Franklin (GB - RB)
14. Tennessee (Ten - DEF)
15. Lawrence Tynes (TB - K)

it's solid...my initial plan was 3 straight RBs no matter what, but i still have a hard time passing on QBs...

i could have taken chris johnson in the 2nd, and then instead of Sproles in the 5th had a QB from Ryan, Kaepernick, Newton, RGIII

probably reached on hopkins, but it was mostly sorting trash at that point

and i'm torn between charles/spiller for my first rb

I'm thinking Charles will be there when I draft sixth in my league (don't ask.. everyone drafts QBs like crazy because we can start two and people haven't adapted since we dropped the passing points down to 4 from 6). I know it's a BIT of a homer pick, but I really hope it makes sense for me to get him at 6.

One reason I like him is because I think Kniles is the clear backup. I like to pick high Rb's that you can legitimately handcuff.

Ceej 08-11-2013 08:16 PM

Just did my first ever Dynasty draft.

12 players -- 4 hours, 42 minutes. OH. MY. JESUS.

Ceej 08-11-2013 09:37 PM

Okay, for those of you with no life please critique my first dynasty draft.

I picked 5/12.

We start: 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3WRs, 1 TE, 1 K, 2 DL, 3LBS, 1 S, 1 C.

QBs - Ryan, Rivers
RBs - Charles, David Wilson, LeShoure, Richardson, 'quiz Rodgers, Ballard
WRs - Demariyus Thomas, A. Brown, V. Brown, Givens, DeAndre Hopkins, DJax, Tate
TEs - Witten, Myers
K - Janikowski
DL - Datone Jones, Muhammed Wilkerson
LB - Bostic, Bowman, Houston, Clay Matthews, Sio Moore, Alec Ogletree, Walden
CB - Shields
S - Earl Thomas, Kenny Vaccaro.

Man, this was tough. A lot of young guys -- especially on the defensive end. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my squad. WR 2/3 could potentially be an issue. Hoping Thomas, DJax, and a combination of Hopkins/Brown/Brown could do the job.

it's funny, i've done some mocks to try out different strategies (last year was my first year, and I reached for everyone) and it is so hard to commit to 3 rbs when QBs and WRs are flying off the boards, but I like the results

there's about 10 QBs with a few points of each other, it seems, and a couple are always there in 8-9th round

anyone think Alex Smith could put up decent ff #s in a pinch?

I've done a bunch of mock drafts on fantasyfootballcalculator and Spiller never goes that high. I'd much rather have Foster or Charles at the #2 spot this year.

It's hard to pull the trigger on an elite QB in the early rounds when there will be guys like Stafford, Romo, Eli, Luck, etc all available late, with not a huge drop off in production.

Spiller has gone Top 5 in every standard mock I've done.

I'm seeing Charles/Spiller go 2-3 or 3-4 and guys like Martin and Lynch falling.

I saw Lynch fall to 10th once. That's pure theft.

He might.

I've drawn the #2 spot in my 10 team standard league and I've narrowed it down to either Charles or Foster. I'm worried about the lack of TD's for Charles. I think the same thing goes for Spiller. Both are much more appealing in a PPR format.

3. Charles
4. Martin

I have luck at QB, standard league

I would go Hilton. The redskins defense is pretty good. The raiders have no one. Hilton will be all over the field in that one. good decision to have though.

I drafted thinking our league was PPR. Because our commish (a girl) told me it was. It wasn't. Kinda pissed, but still did okay

10 man league, 6 girls, 4 guys. Snake Draft. I picked 8th.

Here is how the 1st round went:
Round: 1
(1) Adrian Peterson RB
(2) Arian Foster RB (LOL!)
(3) Doug Martin RB
(4) Marshawn Lynch RB
(5) Aaron Rodgers QB
(6) Jamaal Charles RB
(7) Ray Rice RB
** (8) Calvin Johnson WR

I'm seeing Charles/Spiller go 2-3 or 3-4 and guys like Martin and Lynch falling.

I saw Lynch fall to 10th once. That's pure theft.

I'm thinking of keeping lynch for a second and hope I draw a high draft pick. Coupling AP or Charles with lynch as 1 and 2 picks? Very intriguing. However amendola at 12 is pretty much another Amazing choice.

Got another draft today. The commish goes all out. It is usually a blast.

And I got to thinking in the four years I've participated in FFL I don't think I've picked later than five.

Tonight's draft order will be determined by some drinking game with vodka.

What do you guys enjoy more? Picking sooner or later? Snake draft, 12 teams.

I prefer to have picks right next to eachother, so either first-ish or last-ish rather than in the middle.

In my keeper league we had a beer pong game set up. You shot a ball, chugged the beer if you made it and the bottom off cup revealed your pick.

I made my ball into a cup that read, "choose your own pick." I took five because with this year I felt more comfortable in that range and it was my first dynasty draft.

JC fell to me @#5, luckily.

DaKCMan AP 08-24-2013 01:25 PM

Had the draft for my 14-team league this morning. I had pick #13. My strategy this year was to wait on WRs until later in the draft.

Start 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1K, 1D

QB Tom Brady
QB Joe Flacco
RB Trent Richardson
RB DeMarco Murray
RB Mark Ingram
RB Ronnie Hillman
WR Anquan Boldin
WR Josh Gordon
WR Chris Givens
WR Kenbrell Thompkins
TE Antonio Gates
TE Scott Chandler
K David Akers
K Greg Zuerlein
D Bears
D Browns

This year I want a late pick. RBs are all about the same 2-8. At the end of the first you can get a stud RB and one of the top 3 QBs or WR. If you pick at the top (2-4) you get the same caliber RB but get stuck with a 2nd tier player on your 2nd round pick.

I pray I dont get the 2nd pick. Id rather have McCoy/Richardson/Rice and, say, AJ Green or Peyton Manning instead of Spiller/Martin/Lynch and Larry Fitzgerald or Cam Newton.

But who knows. The guy who won our league last year went Rice, Cam, Gronk in the first 3 rounds and still ended up with Demaryius Thomas and Dez Bryant.

Just finished my $200 auction draft (PPR). QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, K, DEF.

QB: Matt Ryan, Eli Manning
RB: Jamaal Charles, DeMarco Murray, Eddie Lacy, David Wilson
WR: Danny Amendola, Marques Colston, Michael Floyd, Chris Givens, Cecil Shorts
TE: Jason Witten, Scott Chandler
K: Alex Henery
DEF: Patriots, Giants

My overriding plan this year is to wait on QB's more than ever. Even if you are the last in a 10-12 team league, you're still getting a Romo, RGIII, Luck. I'll take it, while stocking up at RB/WR.

The Bad Guy 08-24-2013 08:52 PM

12 team league, PPR, 6 points per TD pass, bonuses for 300 passing, 100 rushing or receiving. Big money league.

QB - Peyton Manning, Sam Bradford
RBs - Doug Martin, Stevan Ridley, Jonathan Dwyer, Le'Veon Bell, Bryce Brown, Bilal Powell
WRs - Marques Colston, Pierre Garcon, Cecil Shorts, Golden Tate, Jeremy Kerley, Donnie Avery, Austin Collie, Markus Wheaton
TEs - Jermichael Finley, Julius Thomas
K - Gostkowski
Def- Rams

okcchief 08-24-2013 11:10 PM

Did my first ever auction draft last night.

12 team standard scoring no kickers

QB Stafford, Luck
RB Charles, Ridley, D Richardson, Tate, L James
WR Roddy White, V Jackson, T.Y. Hilton, J Gordon, K Thompkins
TE O Daniels, A Fassano
DST Cinncy

3 more drafts in the next 4 days :)

Ceej 08-25-2013 05:38 AM

Picked 5/12. We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 W/T, 1 flex, 1 k, 1D.

QB - Brees, Dalton
RB - Martin, Matthews, Ivory, Dwyer, Bell
W/T - Cobb, Cruz, V. Brown, Witten, Thompkins, Finley
Denver D
Zuerlein.

Really hoping Cobb and Cruz aren't too hurt. I was pretty stoked Martin and Brees fell to me.

Old Dog 08-25-2013 07:11 AM

Big money league (the one from the Vegas posts last year). Had 12th pick, was bound and determined to go RB/RB much like I've been saying on here for a month, and it got thrown out the fricking window when Brees was available at 12.
6 point for all TDs, .5 per reception

QB-Brees, Cutler
RB- McCoy, L. Miller, D. Richardson, Bell, P. Thomas
WR- A. Johnson, J. Nelson, Shorts, Britt
TE- Gonzalez, Housler
K- Brown
D-Bears, Chiefs

likely starters bolded....not great, but should compete.

Ceej 08-25-2013 07:27 AM

I like it. In my league Brees fell to me in the middle of the second round.

RBs flew off the board.

the Talking Can 08-25-2013 10:26 AM

Had two drafts this weekend. One was a fairly competitive league -- we start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 W/T, 1 K, 1D. We also get return yardage. I had 5/12.

Brees, Dalton
Martin, Matthews, Ivory, Dwyer, Bell
Cobb, Cruz, V. Brown, Witten, Finley, Thompkins
Zeurlein
Denver D.

Second league is a family bragging rights league, but competitive nonetheless. We start 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs. 1 Flex, 1 K, 1 D. That team:

Romo
Charles, Forte, Wilson, Lacy, Tate
Bryant, Amendola, Givens, Graham, Gronkowski, Gordon, Hopkins, V. Brown
Zeurlein
St. Louis D

I like both teams a lot. Obviously, I'm banking on Cobb and Cruz getting healthy -- and Matthews not being such a puss.

Thoughts?

the Talking Can 08-26-2013 06:23 PM

really like the 2nd one...sweet rb crew and I think Bryant could be the #1 wr this year...

It's a little skewed. While I love my family - they're not into fantasy football as much as I am. Some defenses and kickers flew off early. But, I think my team will be pretty good -- I really like Romo/Bryant this year.

Would any of you guys starts Dwyer v. Tenn, Ivory v. TB over Matthews v. Houston?

Ivory is intriguing but I am not sure how much work he will get.

I would hold off on Ivory with their qb situation what it is. I like Dwyer a lot the first few weeks. He should get a lot of carries and their o-line is much improved.

Smart.

Seems like Dwyer is good for 7-8 points a week. People laughed when I took him so late. But with Bell hurt for most of the year I really like CD.

Mr. Arrowhead 08-29-2013 07:25 AM

Did a 10 team non PPR league, you start a QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, R/B, TE, standard scoring except all tds are 7 points, Here is what I came up with:

QBs- Matt Stafford, Russell Wilson

RBs- Doug Martin, David Wilson, Lamar Miller, Ronnie Hillman

WRs-Dez Bryant, Andre Johnson, Hakeem Nicks, TY Hilton, Chris Givens, Mike Williams

TE- Jared Cook, Jordan Cameron

I ended up with the 6th pick and I was thrilled to land martin, I did reach for David Wilson in the 3rd, but I think I made up for it with Andre Johnson in the 4th. Overall I am very pleased.

AndChiefs 08-29-2013 12:16 PM

12 team standard non-PPR league: 1 QB, 2 RB, 1 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex
Standard scoring, 4 pt passing TD.

QB: Eli Manning, Carson Palmer
RB: Jamaal Charles, Matt Forte, Darren Sproles, Giovanni Bernard, Ben Tate, Bryce Brown, Christine Michael
WR: Reggie Wayne, Cecil Shorts, Andre Roberts
TE: Jason Witten, Jordan Cameron
DEF: Bengals
K: Alex Henery

Flex positions are RB/TE/WR. I chose multiple RB's but I can switch around as I please.
