Your yearly "Get DirecTV to discount NFL Sunday Ticket" thread
Just called in and got it for free again....plus a $10 bill credit for 12 months and a $5 bill credit for 6 months.
Didn't even have to haggle with the guy. Anybody else tried yet? |
Yeah. I tried last week. No go. Offered a small discount. Not even close to what I had last year. So I dropped Sunday Ticket for now. I will call mid august to try again. Normally I get a good deal with credits.
|
I moved this year and they gave it to me for free.
DirecTV is a cool company. |

Cancelling mine as I type. I work Sundays now and my wife works overnights on Saturdays. Best I could watch is the first half of each game. I work at 2 pm. No sense in paying $42/month for it. Never was offered any type of deal.
|
I called. No discount, nothing free for Sunday Ticket. Just asked if that would be all I needed. I downgraded our package a few times this year also as our bill keeps going up. My contract is up in November and they are either gonna lock me into a price without a contract or I'm out. They refused to give me a wireless box so I could move a TV to my patio earlier this year too. **** THEM.

Did you call a regular CSR or did you talk to retention? |

I am thinking of calling back about my issues earlier this year and probe them about how I can get a TV to the back patio. Century Link offers wireless set-top boxes where I could move any TV in my house to a new location. I am gonna ask what they have that compares and threaten to move when my contract is done or buy out early. Otherwise, it seems I get no where. Last year it was an hour long phone call with the retention department to get Sunday Ticket for $180 and they didn't want to give me that until I threatened to pay the early cancellation fee to terminate our contract. |
Always talk to retention
|
The only 3 years I had DTV I got it for free. The first year I was a new customer, second year I moved, third year DTV was haggling with ABC so I said my kids were devastated that they couldn't watch Nickelodeon. Guess I got pretty lucky.
|
Wouldn't give a deal to a 15 year customer last year so I told them to go **** themselves.
They called the day Dish was here installing their equipment and offered the world. I told them to call back in 2 years. LMAO |
I got the Max for free and got it free for my in-laws as well.
I'll give my password this year to somebody if you don't **** with my account. |

The NBA's decision to unbundle League Pass follows the settlement of a lawsuit filed against the National Hockey League. Hockey fans filed a class-action complaint against the NHL to similarly unbundle the league's streaming package.
The NBA's decision could be a harbinger for one of pay-TV's biggest products, the DirecTV-distributed NFL package NFL Sunday Ticket. The NFL and DirecTV (NASDAQ: DTV) are currently being sued by bar owners, casinos and other businesses that show NFL games to customers. The complaint contends that Sunday Ticket should not be offered to DirecTV exclusively and should be opened to other pay-TV operators to increase competition and lower the price. The plaintiffs say the package currently violates two sections of the Sherman Antitrust Act. In August 2014, DirecTV signed an exclusive, multi-year $12 billion deal with the NFL to re-up the Sunday Ticket package. The deal, which runs through 2022, increases DirecTV's licensing fees from $1 billion a season to $1.4 billion. Depending on their size, businesses pay between $2,314 and $120,000 a season to purchase Sunday Ticket access, the suit says. http://www.fiercecable.com/story/nba...low/2015-07-23 |
Canceled it all last month, started a Hulu account.

I have too many trees at my new house. I live so far north that the dish does not point up and if trees are too tall, they block the signal. But at least musk ox live next door. Not many people can say they have musk ox in their back yard.

I'm hoping they bring Sunday Ticket to U-verse now that the AT&T and Directv merger is official. I had the streaming subscription last year but it was pretty poor quality at times.
|
I'm getting NFL Sunday Ticket free with direct TV this year. I better not have any ****ing problems with service connection because of bad weather. Twice now on stormy days I've had shitty reception and I got pissed off because Royals were playing. Rain should not interfere with connection ****ing bull shit. Year 2015 and I never had trouble with connection with cable before unless the power actually goes out. I didn't want to be like Meat head Rob Lowe so I got Direct TV to be like Rob Lowe.
**** you Direct TV if you can't keep me connected during a ball game. You sold me Creepy Customer Rob Lowe |

What will make me mad is if ATT decide it is not worth it and drop it from Directv. This merger will be interesting. Centurylink bundles directv with phone. Will that continue to happen with the merger? |

I asked to cancel my service, got transferred to retention, then asked for free ST. This is my yearly routine, but they wouldn't do free this year. They offered $167, so I took the deal.
It's definitely worth spending 30 minutes every year to see what offers you'll get. |

We are pretty close to having fiber installed. When you get the discount do they lock you into a contract?

I cut the cord recently. They are trying to lure me back with 20 dollar base package plus direct ticket plus movie channels for a year etc.. then it goes back to regular price on a 2 year deal.
I'll continue to fight it off, but I don't think I will be attending as many games this year. Something to think about~ |

So far I'm not thrilled with Direct TV hope I can enjoy the season with out any **** ups from digital feed from satellite. I don't like the channel set ups either. |

I got fed up with DirecTv about a month ago and signed up with Dish for $65/mon instead of 95/month that my bill had gone up to. Called to cancel and got sent to customer service where "Tommy" cut my bill back to $65/month matching Dish and he gave me Sunday Ticket, MLB Extra Innings and 4 months free Showtime that doesn't have to be called and cancelled in Nov. They got me back. When I called and cancelled my install the Dish guy said I'd got a good deal.

Plus I had to search for the Royals game it was hidden on channel 671-5 so I have to turn it to 671 then scroll down to 671-5 just to get the game that should be local anyways. I don't want to have to do that for Chiefs game. It makes it harder to flip to prev channel and back without having the hassle to scroll down each time. I find this annoying as hell. On the other hand at least I don't have to get up and walk ten feet and change the channel manually on the television like we had too growing up so I guess life is good lol. |

they don't have that available this year. I talked to a directv rep and he told me they got rid of all the streaming options this year unless you already have a directv subscription. |
That's not what this says: http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/nflws/index.jsp
I read somewhere they'd start offering the streaming packages again in August this year. Can't remember where I saw it. |

I drink water at the local buffalo wild wings, Way better screens than I could ever afford and I ususally walk to my car and eat a sandwhich I made if I get hungry. With the money I saved I put it into a nice nest egg account that got compound interest. Unfortunately someone broke out my window this year so that money went to replacing the window. But I look forward to the stares that the waitresses give me at bw3's as I drink my water and bounce after watching 150 dollars worth of games in one day.

Damn, just got off the phone with Directv.
I gave them a sob story about not being able to afford Sunday Ticket anymore, and that had been the only reason I had stayed with them for so long. I told him I was just going to look for a cheaper option (Dish, cable, etc). Next thing you know I've got free Sunday Ticket, $20 a month off of my regular bill, and 4 months of free Showtime... First damn break I've gotten in quite a while. |

I'm seeing a lot less success stories than I have in the past. Either DirecTV is wising up, or they simply don't give a shit.
|
Got like $60 off. Under $200. I'm cool with that

Am really happy I can DVR movies and games that is awesome.
I am DVRing Sharknado 3 so I can watch it after the Royals game. Win. |
**** you Direct TV **** you . I lost connection during the Royals game you sons of bitches **** you.
|
Monday I am going call Direct TV and tell them to fix the problem or pick up the satellite dish and I will go to Cox or something.
If I can't count on them to show me a complete game then I'm going assume that I'm going end up missing a Chiefs game at some point because of snow then that's not worth it to me to worry about. I shouldn't have to worry about connection this day and age 2015. |

You only watch half of the game anyways so what's it too ya? 5-10 minutes is way too long & it should never happen unless the power goes out. I didn't lose my internet connection so DTV doesn't have any excuse that can satisfy me to let them get away with shitty service. I don't want to miss a ****ing play especially when the game is on the line and a single play makes all the difference. They claim 99% signal reliability so I'm calling them and telling them that is a lie. Three times I have lost reception and I'm a new customer from May 2015 so they can kiss my ass. |

Thanks for your concern, though, Sib! |
Been a customer since early 2012. Bill was over $100 starting April of this year, I called to get it lowered. Agreed to $30 off a month for 12 months. After agreeing to this I told them I needed to add a second TV, the guy told me I'd have to lock into a 2 year contract to do so. Ended up canceling my service in that phone call, which occurred on a Friday. I was gone that weekend; got back Monday and was annoyed about not having the royals game. Called back to see if they'd do anything to get my business back, ended up with $250 in gift cards, free Sunday ticket max for 2015, $50 off my bill for 12 months, brand new equipment and free install for my 2nd TV, free HBO., Cinemax, etc for 4 months and a $30 loyalty credit on my first bill. Worth it for 3 days of no tv.
|
So I called them got transferred 3 times and that didn't make me happy because I had to keep repeating my self about when it rains I lose reception. I told them that is false advertising claiming 99% reception reliability because if that was true then every time it rains I shouldn't be losing my reception.

Finally got to the person that said she would send out a tech support guy and check if he can do anything with the satellite adjustment but I told her that if it can't be fixed then they need to pick up my dish and I will go back to Cox. He will be out sometime today between noon and 4. I shouldn't have to worry about missing a game just because it rains. That's shitty service provider & liars to say 99% reliability. **** Direct TV **** Direct TV I will repeat myself **** Direct TV |
They really need a team package offer. It's a joke having to pay that much for the service.
|
Not gonna call or haggle with them... I found not having NFLST has been kinda nice. Sundays are a little more open and you don't feel guilty for not being home sitting on the couch watching ball all day.
I get probably half or more of the Chefs down here in OKC, the rest I can listen to on NFL mobile for a 1/10th of the cost of Sunday Ticket. Just a waste of an expense anymore for no more than what you get in return. This will be year 2 without it and have to say I really don't miss it. |

I feel lil better now the tech guy is here and said that the satellite is out of line and he can fix it. We will see hope it works better but it is cool they got here same day I called for the complaint. So at least that shows effort.
