5 year 44.5 million
bye |
****...
|
Yeah, good luck rod
|
Welp, Cam Erving it is then
|
$9 mil a year. Good work Raiders.
|
Hate to see him go but that's too much
|
****er should catch a stray bullet in that shitty ****ing town.
|
Bye-bye Hudson... Chris Meyers is available and he can still play at a high level. He was the anchor of many very good Texans OL's. Might be a good stop-gap. Id look into it if I were in need of a Center.
|
This blows. Our O line has been, and will continue to be dog excrement.
|
Guess he can climb on that stack of money to enhance his view from the bottom.
|
Wow, welcome to Loserville, Hudson. At least you won't have to worry about losing playof games.... Cuz you won't be playing in any, anymore!!
|
Can't turn down that much money. Damn.
|
|
that's a blow, but you can't give him $9 mill
this GM should be able to figure out how to field a league average OL next year regardless |

Hope he's looking forward to Poe kicking his ass twice a year. |
The Good News is that we already had an excellent OL and plenty of depth...................
|
Hate to see him go, but there's no way KC could (or should) pay that.
|
eric fisher is now our best OL
and he sucks |
$9M for a center?
Bye bye.................... |
Watch Poe eat him for the next 4 years. |

JFC.
Would have liked to keep him, but not for $9M per. |

Because..faiders...... LMAO

We needed to lock up our players during the year and didn't get it done this time... |
Faiders gotta spend their cap money somewhere. May as well over pay for the few players who might actually come to Jokeland.
|
$9 mill a year to split between Maclin and Houston....had to do it
|
9 mil for a center will surely tip the scales in Oaklands favor for first place!

That said, we really should see a big jump in his progression this upcoming season. |

One of the worst lines in the league lost it's best player. If we're depending on rookies to improve the line then we're going to be disappointed IMO. Hell, look at Rodney Hudson. It took him a while to get to the point this year where he was one of the better centers. He was below average for a while before he got to this point. We've spent countless early round picks on OL over the past several drafts and we've got shit to show for it. Eric Fisher - 1st Jeff Allen - 2nd Rodney Hudson - 2nd Jon Asamoah - 3rd Two of them are gone now and the ones that remain either suck or simply aren't that good. Not sure what point I'm trying to make beyond. I guess we simply suck at trying to build an offensive line. |
Kush hits the FA market in 2017, anyone in this draft we can eyeball as his replacement?
|
paying veteran WR/CB money for a center Cobb 10mil per year/ Flowers 9 mil per
Cats good but dam you cant argue with his play he flat levels players down field, but has no Tds or Ints. Sign Maclin trade down in the first get Erving as OT not center pick up a good center rd4 or 5. |

Still sucks to see him go. Remember how many centers we went through before Hudson locked it down?

Guess I hadn't heard that.....well **** |
Did I miss something or is there a link in the OP that states specifically that Hudson has signed with chokeland ?
|
We simply can't go into the season depending on only rookies to improve the line.
And if Dorsey goes another season depending on losers like Linkenbach and McGlynn to fill holes on the lines then we are seriously ****ed and Dorsey is a bigger dumbass than anybody could have imagined. There is now not a single spot on the line that you can look at and say "That spot is locked down, we don't have to worry about it." There are question marks at all 5 spots and far too few answers. |

Sorry I'll pay playmakers (Maclin) $9 million per. Not Hudson whom isn't a hall of fame center
|
Hudson is a good, but not great center... Raiders overpaid.
The Chiefs have a guy they have been grooming in Kush or can address this in the draft. |
FRANCHISE O-LINE INCOMING!
PRAISE US WITH GREAT PRAISE! http://uranus.ckt.net/~gochiefs/truestfans.gif |
Kush was the highest rated C in preseason last season and looked solid. I think he'll be a decent C.
Our OL isn't as terrible as last season. That was a catastrophe losing Allen and Stephenson. Add some depth and I think we'll have a middle of the road OL |
Fugging 9 mil per year? **** him.

The Raiders and Jacksonville are God's gift to free agents looking to get overpaid.
They have to spend and no one with options wants to play on either team. |

I'll give Dorsey a pass on this one. 9 mil is insane.
|
3rd round comp pick next year.

Way to much money.

FYP. Teams like the Raiders, Jags and Titans are pretty clearly needing to overpay to get anyone to go there. Antoher factor is state taxes. California taxes people who make more than $1MM per year 13% or something of the excess. When Florida and Texas have NO state income tax, it's a serious problem. NFL seriously needs to think about whether a state income tax adjusted salary cap number makes sense. Teams in states with no income tax have a significant "recruiting" advantage over states that do, especially if it's higher. If the goal of the NFL is to have a level playing field for the teams to hunt talent, then they should probably consider it. Of course, that would help teams in NY and California, so I'm not sure I'd personally support it. :D |
I know everyone likes to bitch about the line and Dorsey, but frankly I think he made the right calls by not over paying guys like Albert, Hudson, Asamoah, and Schwartz.
Albert: Five-year, 47 million deal with $25 million guaranteed. Started 9 games in 2014 Asamoah: Five-year, 22.5 million deal with $6 million guaranteed. Started 15 games in 2015 Schwartz: Four-year, $16.8 million deal with $6.2 million guaranteed. Started 2 games in 2014 Look at the money that's been paid to Chiefs offensive linemen, who besides Albert, don't have long distinguished track records in the NFL. Of all these guys, Asamoah is the guy me probably should have kept, but its not like he's some standout guard who would be difficult to replace. It's going to suck to have to re-stock the oline in the upcoming draft but we don't really have a choice in the matter. This is why we must always use 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks on developmental linemen. It's a position you can't afford to ignore anymore because the big fatties are making bank. |

However, your point on the taxes and the salary cap is a good one but i highly doubt that the NFL would ever open that can of worms. |
