Cazadores is my preference. Jose Cuervo Tradicional is a less expensive option that is respectable.

When buying tequilla look for the national Mexican government seal that says it is 100% agave grown from a government recognized source. If the label does not indicate that 100% agave was used, then there is a good chance its mixed

I don't know exactly what price range you're looking for, but 1800 is 100% agave.

My review of El Jimador....
Tastes different that Jose but in a good way.... Thanks for the tip... I like it. |
El Ultimo Agave.

Now... How do you drink tequila...
I am not a mixed drink fan, I usually drink 1 jigger of Tequila and maybe a half a jigger of orange juice... I just love the taste of orange juice with tequila as a small chaser.... Sometimes I take straight shots too though |

Oh and if you guys have a woman that does not like the taste of liquor, turn them on to those flavored vodkas.... Like Whipped cream ... it's super sweet and the ladies love it....

Cool, never heard of that.... I have never been able to get the wife to take shots but she will take shots of this Smirnoff flavored Vodka without hesitation. It's like 70 proof (35% Alc) |

Avion Respando I hate 1800 for some reason, I would rather drink Sauza. Avion is ok, no patron though. |

I would buy it for a special occasion but not for everyday shots |

Wow, sure would like to give this a try, but at $500+ a bottle, I doubt it will ever happen.

Boom! Liver disease! |
No El Jimador at my local boozery. I bought 1800 Reposado instead at $24.99. Unfortunately I can't crack it until later tonight as I have obligations to take care of before I can have fun. I will let you know how it turns out.

I want to try this stuff just because the bottle is so bad ass.
http://www.tequila.net/images/storie...1293565510.jpg http://www.tequila.net/tequila-revie...ila-anejo.html It gets some pretty good reviews and I have seen it in my local Hy-Vee liquor store for around $50. I just may have to pull the trigger. |

I prefer Cazadores to Jimador. It's a little smoother. I've polished off a lot of fifths of tequila with a buddy and Cazadores is my go to tequila. |
Man I am pumped having a porterhouse for dinner with tequila for dessert and jack shit to do tomorrow but watch football.

Best tequilla I ever had was in Mexico for a wedding I was photographing. Had some down time with the couple and some party guests and they kept talking this stuff up. I am not real big on tequilla but gave it a try and it was so smooth...just a great experience.

1800 isn't bad. Its nothing to really write home about. I don't really drink tequila a lot though so I may need something to compare it to, to really determine the quality. I have no problems going to take another shot, so that's a plus. Speaking of which.... brb

I love a few shots of some real tequila, but i've known for a while that any more than 3-4 will turn me into an angry, raging latino, pretty sure i process it about as well as 1800's native americans processed rotgut whiskey. 3-4 times a year is about all i can handle it, vodka and rum suit me much better most of the time. |
Tequila you usually get what you you pay for. Is a $500 bottle "worth it"? Probably not for us poor folk, but considering the jump in quality from a $30 bottle to a $60, I'm sure that high dollar stuff is amazing.
Personally I like the Don Julio resposado and anejo. |
patron, chilled, ice water chaser.
|
Me gusta Don Julio Anejo
|
I own a liquor store and our best seller is Jose Cuervo Gold and El Jimador because they are the cheapest. When mixing, its better to go cheap. On special occasions people by Sauza Three G's and Don Julio. Patron is like Corona beer, all about the advertising.

NZoner will vouch for that. |
I drank a pretty good amount last night and I have no hangover today so it's all good.

Bust out that credit card and get yourself some of the good stuff.

Whatever brand you pick, spend the money and choose the anejo version. Almost all anejo versions of any brand are a lot smoother.
And if it were me and you could find it, El Tesoro anejo. |
