Baseball Keeper Question
I have to keep 4 guys, I draft 2nd next season 12 teams
Im gonna go with Goldschmidt A. Jones Tulo for my fourth I have to choose between Machado, Kemp, G. Cole. Should I take a gamble with Machado or Kemp especially since Machado is still very young and plays 3rd? His injury is supposed to be pretty serious and he might not be back before the season starts. Cole is intriguing too since he's the only pitcher I have worth keeping and I think hes gonna be a stud. What say you guys? |
Matt Cassel.

Machado. Unless you can work a mega deal involving these guys that would improve your four. I kinda like the idea of keeping Manny, Jones, Goldy and Tulo as a core. All you need is a C, 2b and a couple OFs to complete your lineup.

Manny Machado. He's only going to get better.

Batter over pitcher every time. Machado.

M Machado

Machado or Kemp?

Machado.
All the reports on his rehab are extremely positive. No need to be concerned, long-term. And there's still a chance they don't get Hardy re-signed after this season, which would mean Manny moves to SS. |
Crazy to see Goldschmidt going so high in the drafts/bids. He was my neighbor growing up. He used to blast the shit out of a tennis ball when we played ball with plastic bats in the street. Dude had massive buck teeth before braces

Are you still in contact with him? |

Interestingly enough we went to the same college too. I didn't realize he was such a stud until he got there. His teammate Kyle Drabek seemed to get all the attention in high school. |
I'm in a $400 Rotisserie keeper league... Who do I have to keep?
|
Quote:
How many keepers do you get? And how many teams in the league? Your pitching staff is ridic. |

In that case, I'd keep Braun, Kershaw, King Felix, Strasburg and probably Gyorko. You'd need to focus on hitting out of the draft box, but you're also ending up with 4 top 20-30 players and a MI with 30 HR power, as well as one of the best all-around talents in the game. |

Overall rank? Also seems like an unfair way to do things. In 2012, Mike Trout was undrafted in a lot of leagues. In 2013, he was a consensus top 3 pick. So if you're someone who saw the superstardom coming, you don't get to take advantage of it in any way? |

Gimme time and I'll upload the KV for each player on my team |

Here is what I'm working with. Again, I can't keep multiple players with the same KV
|
Now I understand why you can't keep those 2. Then Clayton obviously. So as long as they are not the same KV you can keep or is there more to it as far as what the total of the 5 KV?

1) Braun or Kershaw 2) King Felix 3) Greinke 4) Minor 5) Gyorko I'd probably keep Braun over Kershaw since you can also keep King Felix, Greinke and Minor. I'm pretty confident Braun does his usual 100/.300/30/100/20 line. |

If it is close I would go with Clayton. If hitters are more valuable take Braun. With Braun it's a catch 22. If he keeps taking he will prob produce but you have that chance of him being bounced for 100 games next time. If he stops taking ped's he might not produce like he did. Clayton is pretty much a sure thing to produce. |
If anyone has any insight in the next eight hours or so I'd casino cash them.. Deadline is tomorrow for keeprs.

Minor is a little scarier now that "Being behind schedule due to offseason surgery on his unit' has turned into "having a sore shoulder" though. Kershaw, Felix and Greinke would be a SP trio that is nearly unmatched. I don't think you can really go wrong either way. |

That would work, though I'm not quite as bullish on Adams as some. I don't see him playing enough to be a 30 HR guy this year. The value on Cruz is honestly not bad, either. That's a friendly ballpark. |

Oh and the previous owner traded my 6th pick for Strasburg |
So update on my draft. I got Scherzer, Cole and Gio with my first three picks. Not to mention Hamels and Garcia REALLY late so I think my pitching will be sick. I'm gonna try and flip Gio and maybe Lawrie for Matt Carpenter. I hate the cardinals but that guy is massively underrated fantasy wise

I've never done an auction style draft so it's hard for me to criticize I guess but that seems high for tulo and low for Cano
|
I had Tulo actually and I ended up trading him and Goldschmidt, Gerrit Cole, Nate Jones and Alexander Guerrero for Cano, Segura, Trumbo, Cashner, and Parnell. Massive blockbuster

We added an expansion team and I was concerned I wouldn't be able to get another elite bat (top 20) at that price. That was my last decision, and it was a tough one. |
Why did you take Zimmer?

Cano is a LHH 2B who just went from the best park in the majors for lefty power to arguably the worst. That's going to put a major dent in his value. He's also swapping out Fenway, Camden Yards, and Sky Dome for Oakland, Anaheim, and Texas, which are, on the whole, less hitter friendly, and cumulatively, significantly so.
Trumbo is barely above a league average hitter. He provides no value outside of HR pop. Any guy who gets on base less than 30% of the time is going to be an albatross. He's also going to get switched out of a lot of games late because he's a defensive disaster in the OF. Tulo isn't Ripken, but 120 games of him is worth far more than 160 of Trumbo |
Just because he's playing in parks where there's fewer home runs doesn't mean that will translate into more outs. His HR and RBI will take a dip but he could very well lead the league in average and doubles.
You could make the argument that in a fantasy league Goldy is better than Cano but there is no way in hell Tulo is more valuable than him. I don't care if Cano is playing in the Polo Grounds in 1913 he's gonna hit well. |
Kershaw goes on the DL and the guy I'm matched up against for Week 1 took Dillon Gee before I could get a chance to sign him.
