Super Bowl halftime entertainment seekers should be fired.

Lady Gaga? Seriously? I mean, she did awesome with the National Anthem, but halftime?

As long as she doesn't flash her dick, I'm okay with it............

BigRedChief 09-20-2016 10:44 AM

Of all the shit old washed up acts they have put on at halftime your upset with Lady Gaga? I think her music sucks but she is a big star and a current and popular music singer.

Halftime shows are all about the spectacle, not the music. Katy Perry was the perfect halftime act. Gloriously over the top spectacle. I would expect no less from Lady Gaga.

TigeRRUppeRRcut 09-20-2016 10:45 AM

Your impression of her when she was forced to do pop music has given you a negative view on her...but...She is a musical genius and halftime performances are well known to be catered to females.

Predarat 09-20-2016 10:46 AM

I miss the days when you could switch to MTV and watch the Beavis and Butthead Halftime Spectacular.

Well, I'm a female. I'd still rather have the Foo Fighters. :)

I think the Foo Fighters will one day perform at halftime.

BlackHelicopters 09-20-2016 10:51 AM

Alice in Chains

eDave 09-20-2016 10:51 AM

This is a good choice. Like her or not. Sure beats Katy Perry.

Don't hold your breath on the Foo Fighters. Hell, I want My Morning Jacket.

BWillie 09-20-2016 10:55 AM

What's wrong with Lady Gaga? Not my favorite person, I would like to see the Chainsmokers or Calvin Harris or something but that won't have broad appeal. Long are the days of throwing in Nickelback or the Rolling Stones or some rock band like that. Not enough of the masses care about that type of music anymore, so they are trying to appeal to the most people possible. You can never please everyone.

I thought what they did last year was great, Coldplay and then Beyonce & Bruno Mars. I just think Coldplay wasn't smart to advertise as a headliner. I like Coldplay alot, and I get alot of people don't. Those who don't like Coldplay, may like Beyonce or Bruno Mars. Get the best of both worlds.

How is Lady Gaga any worse than Katy Perry in 2014?

At least Katy Perry was eye-candy? I'm asking, since I'm not a guy. You're right, though. Hopefully, they'll throw in someone awesome. Personally, I was excited to see Missy Elliott (was that the year before last?).

chiefzilla1501 09-20-2016 11:02 AM

I'm not a huge fan of gaga. But it's not a bad pick. She's a good entertainer, artist, and musician... More than can be said for Katy Perry or the black eyed peas

jjchieffan 09-20-2016 11:02 AM

I heard Mike and Mike talking about this the other day, before it was a done deal. They said that they had tried to get Adelle but she turned them down, so they were going after Lady Gaga.

Anyong Bluth 09-20-2016 11:04 AM

You might not like her music, but she actually has tremendous talent. My dad, of all people, really likes her.

Check out her interview with Stern. It's from within the last 2 years, and Tony Bennett pops in at some point.

Nothing wrong with Lady Gaga.

Sure, I wouldnt listen to anything she put out, but in reality if you have heard you know she is an incredible singer, and puts on a big show.

The halftime show isnt for you, its for the legions of 'i just watch it for the comercials' crowd.

DaneMcCloud 09-20-2016 11:15 AM

She's an amazing talent and one of the biggest stars in the world, having crossed over from Pop to Old Standards to acting.

Indeed. I'm an old fart and the Rolling Stones made me sick. I LOVE the Foo Fighters and would love to see them do the halftime gig. Unfortunately, they won't get a shot until they are all 75 years old...

WhawhaWhat 09-20-2016 11:19 AM

This performance changed my mind on her. Her music isn't my thing but she is an amazing singer.

Maybe just helicopter dick it a little bit.

Baby Lee 09-20-2016 12:37 PM

Echo most of the sentiments here, not my favorite but talented and a good performer.

Think it would be wild to see what Sia would bring to the stage, but she's too shy.

notorious 09-20-2016 12:38 PM

There is a halftime show at the Superbowl?

Buehler445 09-20-2016 12:46 PM

I would have actually watched Adelle. She's ****ing good.

Gaga will be ok if she tones down the cra-cra. I actually really liked Bruno Mars so I'll withhold judgement.

Spott 09-20-2016 12:47 PM

I have never watched the halftime show before, but I might if they played Slayer.

I actually think Gaga is a good choice. She's got a great voice and has some really good songs, and she's going to be entertaining in some sort of bizarre way.

Gaga is one of the most talented musicians on this planet, regardless if you like her music or not. I am okay with this move, as I believe we will see her true talent (national anthem), and not her outrageous outfits and weird songs she likes to produce from time to time.

mikeyis4dcats. 09-20-2016 02:49 PM

she's really toned down the craziness since she hit it big, readily admitting it was purely to get exposure.

I'm not going to run out and buy her music, but she's got a good set of pipes and talent, and I don't change the station if she comes on

FlaChief58 09-20-2016 02:57 PM

Halftime is for draining the main vein, smoking a bowl and getting another beer. Haven't paid attention to the "show" in years

PunkinDrublic 09-20-2016 03:03 PM

She appeals to multiple demographics why wouldn't she be asked to perform? I can't believe people get upset about who plays the halftime shows. If you're at a good super bowl party it's a good opportunity to go out back and smoke weed.

displacedinMN 09-20-2016 03:12 PM

You actually watch half time?

Good point. Every time she comes to town, most of our circle of friends of the female persuasion [and/or friends' wives] get together to see her.

This will be a popular halftime at our particular SB party.

Pretty much this

While I would rather see Metallica, it could be worse

Her brand of music isnt exactly my bag, but I have heard a song or two that are actually quite good, she is a genuinely talented musician and singer

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zeD-8oVc6O8" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

One thing is for sure, she will bring the spectacle

How about the Black Keys? Cage the Elephant? Silversun Pickups? AWOL Nation?

Can they get a little love?

Not that I don't like your picks, but the Black Keys are the only band mentioned that could sniff seeing a SB halftime stage, and they did a similar appearance not too long ago.

Discuss Thrower 09-20-2016 03:57 PM

Meh? At least she's talented.

Mr. Kotter 09-20-2016 04:02 PM

There are certainly worse choices they could have made...

Garcia Bronco 09-20-2016 04:07 PM

They should have Phish play.

Not a chance.

And The Black Keys wouldn't exist if it weren't for Jack White (and he's constantly flipping them shit for it).

Plus, they're way too out of the mainstream.

DaFace 09-20-2016 04:12 PM

I wonder if there has ever been a Super Bowl halftime act that didn't get its own thread on ChiefsPlanet to bitch about it.

If I find out anyone bitched about Prince, they will receive a giant slap from my enormous e-peen

jspchief 09-20-2016 04:23 PM

I thought Bruno Mars would suck, but he put on a good show regardless of his particular style of music. Lady Gaga is extremely talented so maybe she'll fall into the same category of being a great entertainer.

millions and millions of Gaga fans

No way they can make everyone happy because there is no artist that everyone likes.

No artist that 50% of people like

TimBone 09-20-2016 09:17 PM

Lady Gaga can actually song very well. She's pretty talented. Check out her interviews on Howard Stern and the music she performed in studio.

Edit: Everything I said has been posted already. Sorry, I'm an idiot.

She did it again on Stern, buckle up for this one.
