Billy Butler Hate Thread

I have been a big Billay supporter throughout his career, even going as far as buying his BBQ sauce and t-shirt. However, I am at my breaking point with this fat ****. Your only job is to hit and you can't even do that. You have more DPs than an Asian Hooker. You're slow as dog shit and field as good as Yuniesky Betancourt. Your work ethic has always seemed to be questionable and your wife is fugly. **** you Billy Butler. You have officially joined the ranks of Ned Yost in my books.

kcjayhawks5 04-13-2014 02:39 PM

He's all washed up

RealSNR 04-13-2014 02:44 PM

He's mentally on the ropes right now because he's very sensitive about his weight

bsp4444 04-13-2014 02:45 PM

Trade him for any bullpen help.

He is too focused on trying to create a new flavor BBQ sauce.

Soonest they would dump him would be All Star break if this keeps up

It's not an overreaction. When you're ONLY job is to hit, you better ****ing hit. When you're supposed to be a home run threat, you better make sure 90% of the balls you put in play aren't ground balls.

Many of us thought he needed to hit the weight room over the off season. Doesn't look like that was on his menu

He never was and never will be a home run threat. He had 1 year...

Butler is a waste of time. Sorry duncan, but he's completely through. He's made 3 flyball outs all season. For a cleanup hitter, that's not just laughable, that's actually incredible that a hitter that's supposedly meant to hit the ball in the air and drive in runs can be that bad.

Get rid of him, bench him, move him down the lineup, I don't care, JUST STOP HITTING HIM CLEANUP.

Perez wore the collar today. He was no great shakes in this series either.

Billy sucks. There's a reason nobody wanted to trade anything of value for him this past offseason.

That being said, he's STILL one of the better hitters on the team.

He did have an 0'fer but he did hit the ball hard. I think it would be smart to swap Perez and Butler in the lineup. With that being said, there is no way in hell Ned does something logical.

Hell, the only time the guy could hit was with the bases empty.

Butler will turn it on in the latter half of the year when the Royals are 12 games back.

Butler defenders will rejoice!

CoMoChief 04-13-2014 04:09 PM

If he can't hit and move runners, then he has ZERO value to this team.

It's that simple.

Pretty much worthless to us. Hell even Dee Gordon (this year) has been more of a power hitter then Billy.

a DH should be able to hit more than 15 bombs.

Butler can't....his power sucks.

No wonder they couldn't deal him in the off season, nobody wanted him! The whole team is very underachieving. Going to be a long season, as they will be out of the race in May, which is the norm.

He plays a position where he NEEDS results in order to show his worth. He has no other value to the team. He plays the MLB position equivalent of kicker IMO. He can't afford these kinds of slumps.

Pasta Little Brioni 04-13-2014 05:00 PM

The hate is a bit much but....He should probably be a 6th hitter though.

name the best DH's in the AL, umm Butler is one, then there's what Victor Martinez and David Ortiz

No but his past has been with frequently hitting into dp's and killing innings. He upped his game this year to not hitting also so far.

Psssst.... it's not 2013 anymore. And I'm starting to think using DH rankings as a measure of anything worthwhile. Is being the 3rd best out of 5 (in batting average) really all that great?

just because a player gets it together eventually in a season doesn't mean they are worth it.

If a player doesn't produce when a team needs him then his value goes way down. Garbage hits or production when a team is already out of it is a major problem. Same goes for a lack of situational and/or RISP hitting

Kidd Lex 04-13-2014 05:52 PM

petegz28 04-13-2014 06:00 PM

Well, as some of you know I have taken a lot of heat from a few people on here for saying Butler needs to go. I have wanted him gone for the last few seasons. He can't hit for power. I should actually say he insists on hitting for average. He can't field and he can't run.

This year he has been beyond pathetic. He is a groundball machine and only a misplayed ball is allowing to only have 4 DP's in 12 games and not 5. The last 2 games he has been 0-game and his outs weren't even what you call power outs, meaning he drove the ball hard but it was caught.

He just isn't the player we want him or make him out to be.

okcchief 04-13-2014 06:02 PM

I waa on board with this last year. Just cut ties with this worthless POS.

petegz28 04-13-2014 06:04 PM

I don't know what the **** he is trying to do but last year dude was rolling over on everything which lead to his league leading hit into DP ranking. I don't know if he is just trying to pull everything or what but he sucks at whatever it is he is trying to do.

Prison Bitch 04-13-2014 06:09 PM

Do not let this line fall to the bottom. It's lines like this that make this board a true jewel

Deberg_1990 04-13-2014 06:10 PM

Why does Yost insist on him batting cleanup? I'd love to hear the reasoning for this.

In fairness, nobody on the team is showing any power right now....so there are no real good options.

It was very timely. If we took Hamas' angle, we might've made it "More DPs than a runaway teen". That would also have worked.

DJJasonp 04-13-2014 08:03 PM

there have been several pitches I've seen pitchers "miss" with that are a tad up, but in the upper-half of the strike zone, right down the middle.......and Butler is fouling them straight back.

that's our DH.... :doh!:

There was a pitch today that was up out over the plate, probably belt high, that he batted into the ground and right to the shortstop. It should've been deposited into the right-center field gap.

Take the number you are, divide it by 10 (prolly 12), and I suspect it's pretty close.

I mean really... Other than drinking being one possible strategy for dealing with KC teams, it doesn't mean it's the only strategy.

Not opposed, but it's pretty telling that at least Moose does things in the field (on occasion). Billy's earned this by having ONE ****ING JOB ON THIS TEAM, and being pretty dam bad at doing that ONE ****ING JOB.

The truly frustrating thing is that Butler is close, so close to being the next Ortiz level DH, but just can't seem to push over that hump holding him back. If he would just hit the gym hard, drop 20 lbs, and focus on getting the ball up and being a gap hitter more consistently while becoming a much improved situational hitter, nobody would have an issue with him.
