This is just an elaborate way of saying that the annual CP Mock makes me feel like a school girl.
I will let you interpret that. |
Noon tommorrow, SNR starts it up.
|
In.
|
|
Word on the street is that compensatory picks will be announced today.
|
Do we want to push this back a day to see if the comp picks get announced today?

Everything looks correct for the 1st round?
I'm going to start working on the 2nd round after I get out of a meeting. |
Other than the damn name changes posters are getting I think so.
|
Hey now, I was the one who was raped. I'M the victim here.
|
It's up to the members of this draft to keep up with the name changes.....or tell me what the new names are. I'm not keeping track of that shit.
|
Going to be a very interesting first pick for AZ. This draft will NOT break like it will in late April, so numerous contingency plans are needed.
|
Are we starting @ noon ET or CT time?
|
Pretty sure that's Noon CST.
And the 2nd round is up if someone wants to check for accuracy. |
The 2013 CP Mock Draft is now officially under way. You have 24 hours to make your pick. SNR and the Chiefs are on the clock.
|
Reid and Dorsey have set this team up to succeed in a big way this draft. The only glaring hole seems to be at ILB, with question marks at one of the DL spots, one or two of the spots on the offensive line, and at RB2. Knowing Andy Reid, he will want all of those addressed quickly and efficiently. But really, that’s not a bad position to be in. Nearly every single team in the NFL has a handful of question marks at the starter spots (even the Super Bowl champion Ravens). It basically comes down to picking the best player available, knowing that whoever we pick might not start.
Conventional wisdom tells us that one of the OTs is the best pick, but I don’t see it that way. I haven’t all year. Joeckel is NOT Andy Reid’s kind of tackle, and even if he were, just because a tackle has sound technique doesn’t mean he’s ready or capable of being great in the NFL. I prefer Eric Fisher much more here, but then you’re picking a small school guy at #1 overall. That’s what people don’t get about this “Well, just pick an OT here” philosophy. It’s the #1 pick. I ****ing refuse to take a derpy position at #1 if that player isn’t ****mazing. I don’t see Ndamukong Suh. I don’t see Calvin Johnson. And I don’t see Orlando Pace. I don’t even see Jake Long. And at pass rushing talent? ****, we’re either taking Rawface McRawraw or the Marcus McNeill of OLBs. Christ, what a ****ing mess. Really, I would play by the “normal” rules if we traded down. I really would, guys. But a deal has not been announced, and this isn’t the alt mock. So I’m either picking a DL prospect in Floyd who penetrates gaps as well as Tyson Jackson does (i.e. he “needs to develop” pass rush moves) or I’m taking an OT that I very much doubt can play as well as Branden Albert in the league. QB makes sense. Even with the contracts of Alex and Daniel it makes sense. We don’t know if either of them are franchise QBs. We don’t know. And there is a franchise QB available at our pick. And he fits the positional value appropriate for #1 overall. I’m the GM of this Kansas City Chiefs team, and I’m making the pick that I would make in the real position. And here I’m going with common sense and who I believe to be the best overall player. If you want to chew me out, go ahead. I’ve got enough reason and evidence to support my decision. Do you? The Kansas City Chiefs select Geno Smith, QB, West Virginia. |
Added a few rules to the top.
|
The Jaguars would love for Geno Smith to fall to them at #2. Blaine Gabbert is ruined and not a viable option for this new regime. Unfortunately the Chiefs are smart enough to take him and sit him behind Alex Smith for a year.
That being said....the Jags have a TON of holes on this roster. It's not infused with talent and the past regime handed out shitty contracts to shitty players. If Matt Barkley had thrown at the combine....I'd have no problem taking him here but as of now...he's a little bit of an unknown. The Jacksonville Jaguars select Sharrif Floyd , DT, Florida Floyd instantly starts on that defense. You plug him in and he's a 3 down lineman who can not only help the run defense but also get in the backfield on passing downs. He's BPA at this point and he's young (20). |
Way to stick to your guns, SNR. In reality Geno is still in play at #1 overall. Smith, Daniel, Smith as the qb depth for KC is a dream come true after having to endure Cassel, Palko & the waterboy. My question Mr. Chiefs GM what becomes of Mr. Hot Shot Can't Miss 5th Round Steal Ricky Stanzi?

The Raiders are in a full blown rebuild mode. The draft to me has always been more about the future than the present. Free agency is for the present. The Raiders need help all over especially on the DL and CB, but in today's NFL you can't win without a franchise quarterback. Carson Palmer is a very servicable quarterback but at this stage of the game he won't win a Super Bowl for you. The Raiders are lucky the top quarterback in the draft is available to them. Barkley last year was right with Andrew Luck as the top propsect, a down year with Kiffin hurt his stock. Smart, accurate and natural born leader, Barkley is NFL ready to play but with his shoulder injury and with a great teacher for him, the Raiders can afford to wait a year and not throw him to the wolves per say. Gives them time to build the roster around the next NFL superstar quarterback.
Oakland Raiders select Matt Barkley, QB, USC. |
BOOM goes the dynamite!!! Well reasoned, CC. An NFL team is nothing w/o a QB. Palmer can give the rub to he fellow condom.
|
:cuss:Mr. Flopnuts is already holding this shit up!:cuss:

Again, this mock draft is an exercise in making the best possible team against other owners with the exact same goal. Accuracy is not what counts. This is a simulated draft environment. It's an opportunity to stand your ground and say, "Yes, sometimes my ideas ARE better than a real NFL GM's, and I intend to prove it. I am not faced with money or job security issues, or other meddling things that can get in the way of pursuing the best solutions for a team."
I'm glad so many people support my Geno pick. I only wish we could undo the past treat Hamas with the same respect when he selected Mark Sanchez. |

Where the **** is Flopnuts?

I thought we had established that this mock was representative of what we would do as GMs, not what we thought the team would do. I love the GSIII pick.

Besides the Chiefs will more than likely trade with Buffalo so Geno is going #1, thus the real mock and this one aren't much different.

Not for nothing, but Flopnuts DID post this in the discussion thread not long ago. Apparently not a **** was given, because nobody responded to it:

I could step in for Flopnuts if he's still looking to step away....

I was joking, since it had been all of twenty minutes when I made my post.

Sorry guys had to work. I won't normally hold this thing up like this, and am ready to pick. The Eagles need offensive line help desperately. There is only one choice.
The Philadelphia Eagles select Eric Fisher OT out of Central Michigan Fact is, I like his upside better than the Jokester and think he will be the best OT out of this draft. |
Sfeihc PM'd me his pick.
The Detroit Lions select Ziggy Ansah, DE, BYU. |
Ahh. Sorry, I just PM'd him. I'll try and be on top of that as we go along as well.

Sfeihc PM his pick to me to keep it moving.

Thanks for posting my pick, fellas. The Lions drafted Reiff last year in the 1st. We all know you don't take right tackles in the 1st round so I passed on the left tackles available. The free agent market is flooded with corner backs as well as defensive ends for that matter. So, with that being said the Lions need at DE is too glaring to overlook with the likes of Ansah still on the board. Schwartzie(that's was Scooter calls him) and Gun will love working with this kid.

Thanks, BackwardsChiefs, for ****ing AZ.

I made a sig bet with someone that four QBs would go in the first. Don't be afraid of the reach Deez!
|
Arizona pretty much has to reach for a QB in one of the first two rounds. They have no choice. You can't trot Brian Hoyer out there.

Drew Stanton says...."**** you, Direckshun". |

They can have Alex Smith for their 2013 1st rounder.
The offer's on the table, Deez o:-) |

Barkley falls to AZ in late April, but I knew this was never happening in the CP mock because of CC's hard-on for all things USC (which was a good pick for OAK, by the way).
BossReach takes Nassib at #8 overall, so I'm put to a test early. |
Here's the comp pick list.

Hey! I get Mr. Irrelevent this year!
|
Sorry I took so long fellas I work loooong days and I don't get the draft fourm on app talk so unless ya'll send me a link it will be hard to access this thread.
With that said it's time to rape this draft like a game of Monopoly. With the 6th pick in the 2013 Chiefs mock planet draft The Cleveland Browns select: Dee Milner Cornerback Alabama |
Very difficult selection coming up for AZ.
QB is a dire need, and it's likely that Smith or Barkley are there in late April, but they're not there now, so... OT is somewhat of a question mark. Levi Brown is coming off of injury, and Massie is still uncertain at RT, but the OT prospects aren't necessarily top-10 material. And, yeah, I know what PFF rated the Cardinals 2012 offensive line. The Cardinals pass rush is just as big of a cluster ****. NafEurt ****ed me by taking Ansah, so I'll take the next freak up, whom I hope heals quickly and bulks the **** up. But we're going for playmakers in the top 10: Dion Jordan, OLB, Oregon |
Jordan should siphon some pressure off the weak side for the rest of Az's LB corps. He's an explosive athlete that plays with a fire in his belly...and on his flesh.

I really don't like drafting for need this high and don't see a guy worth the pick at QB, so I have decided to take the most electric playmaker I can to pair with Stevie Johnson.
With the 8th pick in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft The Buffalo Bills select Tavon Austin, WR West Virginia The Jets are on the clock. |
Now that is what I call living up to your name.
|
I would call Tavon Austin a reach, but I think he really is the only unlimited upside player in this draft. Hard to argue that the guy with the highest ceiling is a reach at any point in the draft.
|
When I drafted Julio Jones at 6, people said that was a reach, too. :)
Austin is gonna come off the board a lot faster than some of you think. |
He's good but top ten good?
|
With Stevie Johnson on the other side, who ya gonna double?
Adding Austin makes that offense hard to defend...that is, if they can get their own Alex Smith. :) |
The Chiefs will trade you Tavon Austin for Alex Smith, BossChief :)

Having taken both Coples and Wilkerson with back to back first rounders, I couldn't really justify using this pick on Richardson (especially since both have been productive) when the jets have had horrific OLB play (with the exception being Calvin Pace) for the last several years. The Jets finally get an outside rusher who loves spin moves more than Dwight Freeney.
The Jets select with the 9th pick in this year's draft: Barkevious Mingo, OLB/DE Louisiana State University |
