No Combine thread?
Wake up, shitbags. :)
Early thoughts: this year's class of OL look great on athleticism, light on raw power. The only OL whose measurements and bench press stand out as potentially elite was Ereck Flowers. Long arms, ideal size, 37 reps. A favorite of kccrow's, Sean Hickey, did great on bench but has shorter arms for a tackle. Ogbuehi continues to look like a tremendously promising prospect. Elite athleticism, as we'll all see soon, and 36" arms! The kid from Hobart continues to look good. Strong, great size, good arms. La'el Collins has measured disappointingly. He's barely over 300 lbs, with only-pretty-good 33" arms, and 21 reps. Time will tell on him. |
Roy Anderson is a 6'4" TE with only 8" hands. WTF
|
Sean Mannion is a 6'6" QB with 9" hands...
Anybody know anything about the QB from Prairie View A&M? Huge kid, 6'5", 250 lbs, 10.5" hands. |
Round of applause for Justin Hardy's 10" hands, despite being 5'10".
Lockette came in very small... 5'10", 186, and 8" hands. He could fall into the midrounds... great value. |
Tevin Coleman is going to lose ground to Jay Ajayi... Coleman is surprisingly slight, not even 210 lbs, meanwhile Ajayi is 220 easy and has 10" hands to Coleman's 8" hands.

Could explain why he holds some kind of record all time for WRs in think its receptions? Hope he is a chief next year |
Not sure what you're asking, redshirt.
|
Nick Boyle should continue rocketing up charts.
6'4", 270 lbs, 33+" arms, 10+" hands, and 20 reps on the bench, which is alright. |
What's everybody's opinion on Florida OT Trent Brown?
6'8", 355 lbs, 36" arms. LMAO Only put up 20 reps, but those are some long-ass arms. |

How about of EC QB Shane Carden these two players had a good run in college, they piled up the Stats book. Still like the chiefs to pick up Hardy he broke the record for career receptions avg 11 yards per catch but he is not in the top ten WRs for the draft ? |
He is on some boards. He's at about 11 or 12 for me at present moment.
My big hang ups you just mentioned. He didn't play well against his best competition, but it's possible that changes when he's got NFL caliber teammates. |
The 2015 Combine - new and improved with accurate 40 times.
Cool little tidbit. I had no idea the unofficial times were all from Casserly sitting in the stands. gbnreport.com Combine to introduce live timing … Long-time combine watchers will notice one huge change in the way the 40 is presented when the offensive linemen start lumbering down the straightaway tomorrow. As reported by this CBS Sports article, in recent years every player was actually credited with two 40-times. The first was an unofficial time that was posted immediately after each run and was a hand-timed clocking made by former NFL exec Charlie Casserley who was actually just sitting in the stands. Then after everyone in a group had completed both their runs, electronic times, which were deemed as official, were released collectively by combine officials. The problem was that the initial hand clockings tended to be up to a tenth or more slower than the so-called official electronic time and needless to say led to a certain amount of confusion, especially because news agencies tended to jump on really good initial times, which then would be factored lower later on. Starting this year, though, the NFL network will be showing real time 40 clocking, including things like the 10-yard splits, which many teams in fact consider to be more valuable for positions like the offensive linemen than the full 40 time. Should be interesting. |
So, Dorsey looks for guys who have to have something elite about them, right?
Elite size, or elite speed, or elite stats from college play... Something has to show off the charts, and he's willing to overlook things like injury. Fisher: it was his elite potential and long arms; all teams drank the koolaid Kelce: Elite YAC and hands for a TE Davis: Elite size & speed combo... That weight and that 40 time together Johnson: Elite resume (bust) Ford: Elite first step, elite body of work Gaines: Elite length, speed, and pbu stats DAT: Elite speed and wiggle Murray: Elute resume Some are reaches, but if I had to sum it up, Dorsey looks for guys who grade a 95+ on some evaluation point. I'm keeping that in mind as we look at guys this week. |

Adding onto Ereck Flowers resume: a 10-yard split of 1.78, among the best so far.
|
Anybody know anything about Jamil Douglas? OL out of Arizona State.
6'4", 304, 33+" arms, 28 reps, 1.75 10 yard split. |
Jake Fisher, unsurprisingly, displaying awesome athleticism.
Flowers, unsurprisingly, looking a bit lumbering. |
Holy shit -- TE Tyler Kroft strained his ankle at the medical inspection BECAUSE DOCTORS TWISTED THE JOINT TOO MUCH.
What the hell, doctors? |
So, Cedric ogbu. .. whatever, chiefs talked to him about playing rt.
That good? Where would we drsft him round wise? |
This isn't Combine related, but McShane has been blowing Arik Armistead today.

Fantastic athleticism, could be stronger but has phenomenally long arms and very good athleticism. Keep in mind Dorsey is radically obsessed with arm length. I don't know about RT, but he has all the tools to be a Top 10 LT in the NFL. He was the #1 tackle prior to the season. Then the season happened, and for whatever reason, he struggled mightily. He's a project with huge potential. In other words, he's a frontrunner to be our 1st round pick. |
La'el Collins looking great in pass protection drills...
I don't think he's Dorsey material, though. Arm length isn't elite. |
Overall, this OL class is pretty good, but clearly inferior to last year's.
Nobody's posted a sub-5.0 time. The 10 yard splits are inferior. Their bench performance was lackluster. Some good athletes, but it's a roughly average year. |
TJ Clemmings folks. Get used to that name bc if there is one OT Dorsey will have a raging mega boner for its him.
6'5" 309 lbs 10+inch hands and 35" arm length. Dorsey looks for arm length athleticism and upside. This guy was a former TE who plays nasty and has very good athleticism. Prototypical Dorsey player here |

I wonder how they feel about Jeff Allen? Is he going to RT or staying at G?
There's Quite a few quality G candidates in the draft. I hope we take one. |

I REALLY like Maxx Williams in the TE receiving drill.
He and Kelce would be a match up nightmare for opposing defenses and he's only 20 years old. Do it, Carl. |
I can honestly say that I don't think there is really a position that I would be super pissed if they drafted. Outside of FB, K or P that is.
|
Jake Fisher looked good.

Maxx Williams was so clearly the best TE in the drills today. Held his line in the gauntlet, great hands. He's a no brainer in the second round and someone will probably pull the trigger in the first - pays to be #1 at your position.
|
But, uh... let's not start talking about draft picks until the WR take the field, shall we?

But there's no way he'd be there for our second round pick. So, if we want him, it's gonna have to be at #18......unless we did some wheeling/dealing with some draft picks. |

Shit TE class, really. Worst I can remember.

So Fisher has bad stigma here because his brother is a flop thusfar but watch his Ohio state game. He had a great game that day. I think he could be a tackle candidate for us.

Everybody hates Fisher because he wasn't strong enough but the other Fisher who has the same problems is okay?
I wouldn't touch him until our 3rd rd comp pick honestly. I want playmakers from day one with our first 3 picks, not developmental players. |
What are you guys looking at tomorrow?
Wrs: Nelson Agholor Dres Anderson Da'ron Brown DGB Phillip Dorsett Justin Hardy Dez Lewis Devante Parker Jaelen Strong Kevin White Cam Worthy Don't really care about the RB or QB group but I am interested in seeing what time Gordon and Mariota end up running their 40s in. |

I'd rather draft Flowers, Collins, or Tomlinson over him (not all in the 1st round obviously) but I wouldn't mind Fisher either. |
On OL:
A few guys really cemented their status for me today, Donovan Smith, D.J. Humphries, and Mark Glowinski. I was impressed with Ereck Flowers, but I still don't know if he can hack LT. Scherff surprised me a bit with not only his arm length, but his athleticism. Might have to rethink him at tackle. One guy had me perplexed and that was La'el Collins. Obviously he lost some weight for the combine and it sure helped his running numbers. I expected him to be much stronger though. Definitely a hmm there. Jarvis Harrison really helped himself today, he should shoot back up boards with his workout. A few fell off the wagon, including Hickey. I didn't think Hickey's arms were as short as they were. I was of the notion he'd have to move inside at the next level, but he might have to move all the way to center. Adam Shead shows up at 338 pounds, runs a 5.8, and doesn't even hit 30 reps with 33" arms? Lack of athleticism stood out. Rob Havenstein was nonathletic and weak. His numbers don't seem to match his play. On TE: I'm very disappointed that Kroft can't run now. I thought of him as a guy that would be very high on the Chiefs' radar. I really wanted to see him work out. Williams and Walford didn't run as fast as I thought they might, but were solid otherwise. MyCole Pruitt, a guy I have a high grade on, was probably the star of the day. I was excited to see that. Bunch of people like Wes Saxon and he was solid. Other than that, not much athleticism amongst the TEs which left me wanting to see more. |
Pruitt only measured in at 6'2", though right? No doubt he is athletic; however, given that he is running around at 251.
|
I love Wes Saxton as a mid/late round flyer. His tapes from 2013 were fun to watch.
