1st round QBs vs 2nd round QBs: a 20 year comparison
1st round QBs.
Out of 52 QBs: 16 Pro Browlers, 20 with winning records, 13 Super Bowl appearances, 7 Super Bowl rings. 17 with at least 100 TD passes. 2nd round QBs Out of 22 QBs: 3 Pro Bowlers, 8 with winning records, 2 Super Bowl appearances, 1 Super Bowl ring. 2 with at least 100 TD passes. Note: Five of the "winners" from the second round were Colin Kapernick, Kordell Stewart, Shaun King, Quincy Carter and Todd Collins. |
So, what you are telling me is drafting a LT number one overall and waiting till the 2nd to take a QB is TOO RISKY!!

This is all a moot point. In 2012 it was decided that the qb was the most important position in football.

Shaun King was da Truth!

and he was the 1st pick in the 2nd, if I recall
|
Its 2009 all over again, expect the stats keep looking better and better for the first round quarterbacks.
|
if anything, it just further solidifies the opinion by many that the Chiefs have been colossal pussies the last 43 years.
|
Wouldn't be bit surprised to see Cam Newton VS Andrew Luck Super Bowl 2014

It's going to take at least 2-3 years just for the Panthers to get out of the cap hell that they're in. |

Or at least .500. |
I knew Assweiler was destined for failure and this all but confirms it. Better order extra stem cells for the new season.
|
So, we take Andrew Luck, right?
|
But if wes take a QB n da 1st we no acn hav the TeeBoe's dat just win gaemz!!! And Joker to blok 4 him!!!

Picking a QB, like any position in the draft, is a crapshoot. But hey, it sure is a good thing the Chiefs didn't reach for Aaron Rodgers, Joe Flacco or Josh Freeman when they picked DJ, Dorsey and Jackson!!! |

So you are saying if Matt Cazle was picked in the 1st round we would have gone to the super Bowl already?
|
Pro Bowl: 1st round: 30.7% (16 of 52) 2nd round: 13.6% (3 of 22) = 1st round wins by large margin
Winning Record: 1st round: 38.4% (20 of 52) 2nd round: 36.3% (8 of 22) = Push Super Bowl Appearance: 1st round: 25% (13 of 52) 2nd round: 9% (2 of 22) = 1st round wins by large margin Super Bowl Wins: 1st round: 13.4% (7 of 52) 2nd round: 4.5% (1 of 22) = 1st round wins by large margin At Least 100 TD passes: 1st round: 32.6% (17 of 52) 2nd round: 9% (2 of 22) = 1st round wins by large margin |

guys picked later in the 1st round, like JP losman, Druckenmiller, etc.....its questionable whether they would be a 1st round pick in another year......varies depending on the talent available each year. Some drafts are strong, others very weak. |

Is there any other particular round that is strong, or are the remaining 13 spread between the other rounds equally? |

If you include all SB participants the 1st round argument becomes even stronger... |

The answer is 13. Now if you ask the OTHER question: out of the last 20 Super Bowls, how many won by 1st round QBs. The answer is 14. Here's a third question: why did you pop out of a cow's womb instead of a human's? |
bwa-hahahahahahaha

I need a 20 year study on each position before making any conclusions.
|
Wait I ****ed this all up. It's 13 APPEARANCES and 7 rings out of the last 20 drafts.
Thanks for reading. **** yourselves. 14/20 winners were from the 1st round though, including guys drafted way earlier than the last 20 years. Elway, etc. |

last year I think, I did a comparison of the elite teams that had won a SB (or been to one I think) and there was only like 2 lineman in the past 10 yrs + that were drafted in the 1st on those teams.
true fans weep. |
This thread is completely confusing now.
Just ****ing draft Geno before our brains turn to mush. |

In the last 20 SBs:
14 were won by a 1st round QB 8 of them were still playing for the team that drafted them 9 were lost by a first round QB 8 of them were still playing for the team that drafted them 7 1st round QBs have made it to the SB on a team other than the one that drafted them, all but 1 (Kerry Collins) won. He happened to be playing another 1st round QB on his second team. In light of this, I am predicting a Super Bowl win for the Broncos. |

Yes but the Packers acquired him with a 1st round pick. It's basically the same thing.
