I've heard a lot of positive things on Weeden but haven't really watched him much. I'm surprised that he's the only QB in the league that is worse, statistically, than Cassel.

He'd be an average QB if that offense had anything other than Trent Richardson. Dude has no TE and no WRs.

Mr. Laz 10-10-2012 10:02 AM

if you look at all the 1 win teams you gotta figure that the saints, panthers, lions are going to win eventually. I think Tampa gets a few a we as well.

So start rooting for Cleveland,Jacksonville,Tennessee and *ugh* Oakland to win.

Tennessee, I'm not worried about. They've got Locker and they like him.

Cleveland, Jacksonville and Oakland are our main competition right now.

I'd agree with Pestilence that Weeden's numbers suffer a little from poor WR play.

His biggest hangup seems to be that he doesn't progress through his reads very well, and because of that he'll end up throwing one killer INT per game. He did that against the Ravens and had a lead against the Giants when he threw a pick 6 followed by a fumbled kickoff return that completely changed the game. He throws down field and hangs in the pocket a lot better than Cassel.

Rasputin 10-10-2012 10:14 AM

Chiefs are going to screw it up and win some more games.

I'm worried about anyone falling in front of KC just because the draft pick may be open to the highest bidder and we know that isn't going to end well.

Pitt Gorilla 10-10-2012 10:15 AM

If you want this to work out, I think you have to fire Romeo and bring back Haley. Romeo has made our defense really strong and that may cause us to win one or two. Haley would likely continue to screw us into the ground.

I want this team to trade for the #1 pick, no matter where they are in the draft. I don't care if we're at #2.

yea, but that means they probably trade down.

Do you really think we would win a 'trade competition' with other teams for Tennessee's pick?

Yeah that's my biggest fear, a meaningless and pointless 4 - 5 game winning streak at the end of the season.

At that point we would all know that we are the worst team ever, I mean we fail at failing type of bad.

What? Not sure I understand? But Quinn looked damn good when he came in, dont you think? Good enough to win a game here and there and have us end up with about the 8 or 9 draft spot

No put me down as another.

Last thing this team needs is for Brady Quinn to come in and give them a spark.

That will only lose us Geno Smith and increase the chances that Scott Pioli is retained.

Need to lose, lose, lose for the greater good.

Chiefs fan nightmare will continue with the Raiders getting the first pick overall and drafting Geno Smith to **** us for the next 10-15 years.

We need to bring Matt Cassel back as soon as possible.

They lose a 2nd unless they make it to the AFC Championship game and it would become a 1st.

Micjones 10-10-2012 12:04 PM

We might miss out on Smith, but we'd still have a shot at a QB who could change this franchise's fortune.

Yes and I suppose that's the only saving grace about this race for Geno.

We're getting a huge QB upgrade no matter what and that's nice.

Sure most of us would like it to be Geno but Barkley, Wilson, Bray, probably someone else I'm forgetting will be here next year.

I've said for a while now that I'm no longer concerned about the Chiefs drafting a QB and missing. Just do it. If you miss? You miss. Come back & do it again. a la - SD Chargers (leaf to Rivers).

Steron 10-10-2012 12:14 PM

I have complete confidence that our current group of executives and scouts will.....

......screw up the pick no matter what it is. Imagine the epic meltdown here if they take an OLman with a top 5 pick. It would be almost worth it to me if they did. Just for the pure entertainment factor.

Barkley; do we really want another QB from USC named Matt on this team? Also, how many recent USC QBs were any good in the NFL?

Wilson; probably the best QB after Geno Smith

Bray; would need a great (not good) QB coach and HC to help develop him into an accurate NFL QB. Right now he is all arm and low accuracy.

The Franchise 10-10-2012 12:45 PM

I don't think Bray comes out.

RealSNR 10-10-2012 12:47 PM

It's Geno and Barkley and rapefartpoop this year.

And Geno is infinitely better than Barkley.

I was pretty confident last offseason that between Geno, Barkley, and Wilson, this was a pretty nicely talented top end of QBs, with the potential to be far better if Bray or Murray entered early, or if Logan Thomas and someone like Tajh Boyd really showed stupendous ability. None of that has happened.

Oh well. Why the **** should I care about other QBs? We're getting Geno Smith and that's all that matters

Otter 10-10-2012 12:49 PM

If we get Geno I"m going to be thrilled. Black guy with an Italian first name. :D

I'll believe it when I see it.

Ya we need to lose. I just wana see more crap QB play and great defense so we continue to know were a QB and a competent HC away and GM for that matter

whoman69 10-10-2012 12:53 PM

Great, another suck for whoever season. I don't understand the thinking of watching your favorite team out there and rooting for them to lose. If they end up stinking up the joint and get there, I'll live with it. I would be more pissed off if they trot out Matt Cassel again then if we lose the top pick. You don't root for losses.

Fansy the Famous Bard 10-10-2012 12:54 PM

Wilson would be a fine consolation prize.

BlackHelicopters 10-10-2012 12:56 PM

I am worried we could surprise in Tampa. Our defense may rise up again, and we all know Brady Quinn is the answer.

Not getting in this argument again but 8-8 is still a possibility. There IS HOPE!!!

The Bad News Bears strike again and true fans rejoice! Wheeee, maybe next year!!!

Leaf to Brees you mean?

I never will. I want a Wilson or Barkley or Smith, but I'm not going to actively root for this team to lose.

I don't think anyone roots for losses. You see the same guys saying "suck for luck" all last year bitching about the games etc... No one wants to see the team lose. But we want to see improvement... and right now, the only way we see improvement is with a QB we can all get behind. Those don't exactly grow on trees. I'm like many fans here.. I am torn. I want to win.. I hate losing... but at the same time... I want change. I don't want to sit at 7-9... 8-8, 9-7 for eternity, which is the path this team is on, currently.

If they do the same shit in TB that they did against the Ravens......I'll root for them to lose every game for the rest of the season.

God that shit was maddening.
One play away from taking a lead and we still couldn't get there.
I still can't believe we had two TD's taken away.

I beg to differ. Put me down for losses.

Fall back and regroup as opposed to trying to be high heels and makeup on the fat chick and calling her a bombshell.

Do it. Colts have Luck because of falling back and saying "ya know what, this isn't working".

I should have said, "i don't think anyone likes to see the team lose:... some people have differing values, obviously.

I was, but then I called my guy and put $100 on the money line for the Chiefs.....this means a loss is a near certainty.

Renegade 10-10-2012 01:51 PM

I don't understand how this has us picking #2. I would think that NO would own the tiebreaker as we beat them head to head. I see us at #3 right now.

Head to head has no bearing in regard to draft order.
Tiebreaker is strength of schedule

Strength of Schedule is the first tie breaker; head to head doesn't factor in at all.

if you give a shit about this team ever being good, you root for them to go 1-15...

the position of QB is like the #1 pick in the NBA draft...it is far and away the best way to change your franchise and you achieve it by sucking ass completely...

short term pain for long term gain

or, you can root for year #32 of 7-9.....yay

Yeah I suppose so.

Wasn't trying to say Rivers came right after Leaf but more to that they didn't shy away from using another 1st on a QB a few years down the road.

But yes you're correct. Drew Brees is just another example. 1st pick in the 2nd.

They got it right in that they kept investing in that position until they found a winner.

Vick to Ryan
Boller to Flacco

I'd rather do a 1-15 season than live eternally in 7-9 purgatory for the rest of my life.

It looks like the Chiefs are closer to that 1-15 thing than they are the playoffs. They're also stuck in the mire and desperately need a franchise QB to break the cycle. If they had that QB (like St. Louis has Bradford, for example) I wouldn't want to see them tank the season either, but there is no other way out. Manti Teo or some dick-faced OT or DE isn't going to solve this team's ****ing problems next year.

We should definitely get in that habit. Starting in 2013.
Gone are the days where teams win important games in spite of their QB.

Chief Roundup 10-10-2012 02:25 PM

I would rather this team have a 10-6 season and be willing to trade up in the draft to get a QB. But I think we all know that is not going to happen. So I hope we lose enough to be able to get one of the top guys.
I know this won't be popular but if we end up with the 1st overall pick and could turn that pick into Wilson along with several other top picks, whatever combination of 1st and 2cd rounders, over the next couple of years I would have to trade the pick.

Yes, Raiders have their 1st this year. I really doubt they pick up a QB in the first round. I see them getting the first overall pick and trading down to get more picks.

We'll also give you guys a 7th round pick and a Jimmy John's gift certificate if you'll pick up Rolondo McClain's contract. Italian Night Club is the bomb, yo.

Do you still watch the games? Are you frustrated when we score? Are you screaming at the TV when our defense forces a three and out? If you want 1-15 go all the way. I'd rather root for the team and if we end up with a poor record, we should be in a position to trade picks moving up. I don't care if we have to pull a Ricky Williams. I'm not going to be rooting for them to lose games. Be careful what you wish for. You would destroy the confidence of everyone on the team if we went 1-15. Despite the young talent we have, we would have to blow up the team.
