Personally I would go with a Samsung because they have a quality product that you can expect to last for 10 years.
I think a lot of people here like Sony too. |
You know if you had bought it on your AMEX you could have gotten a free extra year on it's warrenty!

I have loved my sharp aquos for four years now. But if I had a bitch it would be the volume but I am hooked up to yamaha surround.

Plasma...Costco....go shop

Samsung.
You won't regret it. |
Probably upset about having having to show the Autumn Wind.

If I bought a TV larger than 32", I would consider the extended warranty if the store offers it, for just this reason. (My parents bought a giant LG, 50" or 60", at Brandsmart. They bought the extended warranty. I told them they wasted their money. Until less than a year later, the converter fried. Someone came out, took it apart, ordered a converter, came back in a week, put it in, TV works fine again.) |

I'd buy the Samsung C650 rather than the C630, as it has the capability to play Netflix directly through the TV if you have it connected to the internet.

Extended warranties are one of the only ways that stores make up gross margin. It's not your job to needlessly give them money. Would you buy insurance if you were playing blackjack at $1000 a hand? |

Samsung, Visio or Sony.. But honestly if it is a year or under it is under warranty.. If over a year you could probably still get it worked on for free with an email to their corporate office..

Funny that would shit out on you in such a short amount of time. I (knocking on serious wood here) have had really good luck with HDTVs, including the Protron 32" that we bought back in 2004.
Of course, the 42" we bought a few months ago is a Sanyo. Now I'm a bit nervous. |

This is in the neighborhood of a grand, and won CNET editor's choice award. A couple months ago it was on sale at dell.com for about $1,099. This is what I was going to replace my TV with, and I was about 5 seconds from pulling the trigger on it, but thought I'd wait until my 4 year old 50" Samsung DLP goes belly up for good. It seems like a good value for the money, however, I don't know what's out there now, and 47" is the largest available. |

Good luck to ya, who the hell do you call to get a tv like this fixed nowadays anyway? Don't see many TV shops around anymore |

You can get a 4" screen TV at radio shack for less than $100 .That should fit well during football season with Al Davis's pea sized brain.
|
Damn dude, that sucks. :(
(Though I can't help but mention that my primary credit card automatically extends manufacturer warranties for an extra year...) EDIT: Heh...I see I wasn't even the first to go down that road. Oh well. |

For what it's worth:
I went to a Sanyo consumer complaint site. Apparently, the problem you have is very common to Sanyo TVs. One person called it a panel board problem, another called it a PCB board problem, and others left it unnamed. It generally seemed to run $200-$250 to fix, with no promise that it won't happen again. |

I just bought a Samsung 55 inch plasma, 1080, all bells and whistles. Super sale at Nebraska Furniture Mart for 650. Beautiful picture. 4 year warranty etc.

I thought all credit cards automatically gave you rental car insurance like that, almost every article I've read praising credit cards lists the rental car insurance as a reason. But the asshole at Enterprise or whatever one time told me my credit card didn't cover anything. I felt like he was lying to me there, but I just bought the insurance anyway to get the hell out of there. |

You know what Daface, I have that receipt right here and I bought that TV on my Visa card on a Saturday in May because the bank was closed...
I did pay it in full as soon as the bill came in though... |

I haven't paid for a hotel room in more than a decade. I've stayed at 4 and 5 star hotels in Italy, Tahiti, Hawaii, Mexico, Rome, Florence, Venice, Munich and many stateside hotels during that time. Why? Because I charge EVERYTHING to my credit card and let is work for ME. But of course, you're far too ****ing reeruned to understand the concept, which is why you're stuck with a $1,000 dollar, piece of ****ing shit TV that's broken after one year. LMAO ROFL |

What an idiot ! Debit cards take your money straight from your account. A credit card gives you 30 days to pay for it in full. Personally I've used the 0% credit card offers for over 25 years and NEVER paid a lick of interest. People that pay cash for everything and have to resort to debit cards are for the most part people that have no discipline. |

I'm not trying to knock your financial methods, because honestly you're in a better position than I am because of them, it just seems unreasonable, IMO, to be so debt averse, when it has several positive qualities, and you can clearly pay it off every month. But, again, to each his own. |
