Saccappoo Annual "Pick 3" Draft Championship
CP Draft-Head's,
I've had this idea for an annual draft game that I thought we'd give a try if you guys are interested!? I thought it would be fitting to name it in memory of the legendary CP'er that our favorite fan forum is named after to continue in the tradition set forth by Staylor's CP Mock Draft. The game is "pick 3" players for each round that you think our Chiefs will take, and whoever gets the most correct wins. In 2024 we'll choose 6 players in the 5th and 0 in the 6th per our current draft schedule. You can edit up until the start of the draft. *EDIT: Rank your choices accordingly per round, we'll reference this in the event of a tie. Secondarily, we'll give consideration for having the right player in the wrong round if necessary. 1st Prize is a Chiefs cap! ...assuming you're comfortable providing an address for me to ship it to. Good luck! Round 1: No. 32 1. kccrow 1. duncan idaho 2. Staylor26 2. Saphojunkie Round 2: No. 64 1. CupidStunt 2. 3. Round 3: No. 95 1. 2. 3. Round 4: No. 131 1. Dunerdr 2. 3. Round 5: No. 159 1. 2. 3. Round 5: No. 173 1. 2. 3. Round 7: No. 221 1. 2. 3. Awesome! Stoked to have you guys participate! Maybe we keep building on this and it becomes something cool, holler out any suggestions you might have! |
I'l kick us off...
Round 1: No. 32 1. OT Kingsley Suamataia 2. OT Tyler Guyton 3. DL Darius Robinson Round 2: No. 64 1. WR Xavier Worthy 2. WR Troy Franklin 3. OT Patrick Paul Round 3: No. 95 1. WR Javon Baker 2. WR Tez Walker 3. RB Jaylin Wright Round 4: No. 131 1. NT T'vondre Sweat 2. RB Bucky Irving 3. WR Jermaine Burton Round 5: No. 159 1. DB Decamerion Richardson 2. IOL Javon Foster 3. DB Jaylin Simpson Hmmm this actually has me thinking through my strategy a lot more than I had expected. Do you try and call all 7 picks or stick to the positions you know we covet most? Do you rank the players higher that you like most or the one's most likely to be available? Will the Chiefs target best fits and trade up or will teams be reluctant to trade with us? Which positions do teams reach for and which fall? Is there a counter-intuitive strategy that offers the greatest probability? Damn. I really want to win that hat! ROFL |
Bold choice with the Demarcus Robinson pick. I guess if anyone can run backwards into the draft for a second time, it's him.

Getting started.
Round 1: No. 32 1. Troy Fautanu, OT (would require a trade-up) 2. Xavier Worthy, WR (if the Chiefs stay put and go WR) 3. Patrick Paul, OT (if the Chiefs stay put and go OT) Round 2: No. 64 1. Xavier Legette, WR (might require a trade up, but hearing the comments about Metcalf recently makes me think they will take a long look here) 2. Kiran Amegadje, OT (the raw clay here is fantastic) 3. Ja'Lynn Polk, WR (not sure he falls this far, but the fit is good) Round 3: No. 95 1. Mason McCormick, IOL, South Dakota State 2. Beaux Limmer, IOL, Arkansas 3. Jared Wiley, TE, TCU Round 4: No. 131 1. Nehemiah Pritchett, CB, Auburn 2. Sataoa Laumea, IOL, UTah (and somewhere out there, the atoms that used to comprise our departed friend Sacc are excited) 3. Luke McCaffery, WR, Rice (this would be a hard one to swallow, because **** the McCaffery family, but if it worked out I guess it would redeem their family's name in my book) Round 5: No. 159 1. Josh Proctor, S, Ohio State 2. Curtis Jacobs, LB, We Defend Rapists and their Enablers State 3. Gabe Hall, DT, Baylor Round 5: No. 173 1. Dylan Laube, RB, New Hampshire 2. Keilan Robinson, RB, Texas 3. Eric Watts, DE, Connecticut Round 7: No. 221 1. Willie Drew, CB, Virginia State 2. Jaden Crumedy, DT, Mississippi State 3. Garret Greenfield, OT, South Dakota State |
I'll do it a little different. Not so clued into the deeper depth this year. I'll do the 1st pick three ways. I think we're more likely to trade down or up than pick at 32.
Round 1: No. 32 1. Tyler Guyton OT 2. Xavier Legette WR 3. Nate Wiggins CB Round 1: No. 18-24 ish 1. Olu Fashanu LT 2. Troy Fautanu LT 3. Brian Thomas Jr, WR Round 2: No. 40-50 ish 1. Kingsley Suamataia LT 2. Ruke Orhorhoro DT 3. Xavier Worthy WR |
Wait, the "three" screwed me up. I though it was just the first three rounds, lol. Give me a minute....

If our Chiefs trade up or down, say moved down from the 1st to the 2nd, only the players you've chosen in the 2nd round would be eligible and those in the first would be voided. But you'd have the potential of getting 2 of 3 players correct in the 2nd. So there's no need to project trades (@CupidStunt), only the 3 players you think the Chiefs are most likely to take per pick. Hope that makes sense. |
Popped mine in. Fun exercise.

Tonights the night! Get your picks in now!
|
I'm going to beat your dicks off!

I add the caveat that we may not select these players at the draft position indicated, but these are the guys I'm guessing we'll pick.
Round 1: No. 32 1. Kingsley Suamataia OT 2. Jordan Morgan OT 3. Kiran Amegadjie OT Round 2: No. 64 1. Xavier Legette WR 2. Keon Coleman WR 3. Devontez Walker WR Round 3: No. 95 1. T'Vondre Sweat DL 2. Cade Stover TE 3. Dominick Puni OT ETA - I also wanted to add that I know next to nothing about individual players. I decided to play along in this thread just for the fun of participating, but whatever "expertise" I might have would be restricted to general trends and such. I think I have a handle on what positions we should be going after and how the draft might play out at the start, but if my player picks pan out, it's just dumb luck or picking up on what others have said on this board. |

I get half a point for picking a guy with the first name of Xavier.
|
Well, got a player right just in the wrong round.
|
First two picks were very Chiefs'like lol
Who's your guess in round 3? |
At least I had both of our draft picks, just both in round 1 lol... ****. Shoulda changed that :D

Going to come up with a clever scoring system for us this week, the challenge turned out to be more difficult than expected.

I propose that next year we pick ...
3 players for the first round 4 players for the second round 5 players for the third round and so on up to 10 players for the seventh round. It's really difficult to hit a seventh-round pick given all of the options. |

I would have won for sure but I did not understand the scoring system that had not been invented yet. You guys are in for it.

I'm thinking that we assign a points system...
Initial thoughts: 1) Later rounds are worth more bc of greater difficulty 2) Picking the right player in the wrong round is worth 1/2 points if 1 round apart, 1/4 if 2 rounds or greater |
I think I should get credit for basically getting the position correct in the first two round. But only me, no one else gets bonus points for that.
I also think I deserve full credit for the Jared Wiley pick given that we traded away the 3rd that I slotted him in at. Again, only I should get credit for this one. That all seems fair! And I think that effectively makes me the winner! |
On a serious note: I think your proposal sounds fair in trying to identify a winner.
I'm also not opposed to not naming a winner, had fun just doing the thought exercise. Easy to say when I'm obviously not the winner though. |

Curious what you guys think about whether this game would work if draft-heads from other teams were also invited to guess their own teams draft picks?
Some teams like this year's Bears would seemingly have it easier with very few picks in high positions, but less options than say the 49'ers who had more chances to pick correctly with their 10 or so slots this year. If there were a website that allowed you to choose from the consensus big board, provided odds per team, and automatically analyzed the results I wonder if it would work on a larger scale for say $5 entry fee or whatever...daydreaming from the office a bit today lol |
