I'm impressed with David Shaw

Luck is gone along with Fleener and this guy takes his team up to Eugene and totally stuffs the best offense in college football. Plus he has NFL experience.

I've been impressed with him for the last 2 years. Really hope we give him a look.

Worth a look, for sure.

A look at what? Head coach?

Uhh... no.

Quarterback. ;)

I do like that he was at one point a Quality Control coach for a few years in the NFL. That's always a plus.

Sorter 11-18-2012 12:03 AM

Personally, I like the fact that Stanford finally beat Oregon w/out Luck.

Played under Bill Walsh
QB coach for Jon Gruden and Rich Gannon
WR/QB coach in Baltimore and OC under Harbaugh

Sounds like he's had good teachers. I hope we give him a look.

Sorter 11-18-2012 01:16 AM

I wouldn't hate it.

Wasn't afraid to make the switch from Josh Nunes to a redshirt freshman.

I've thrown his name in discussions about potential HC candidates.

He has a raging anti-Herm and anti-Crennel thing, yet Haley's hiring made him feel "proud".

True story.

Your fetish for crappy coaches, just because they are black is pathetic.

RealSNR 11-18-2012 01:50 AM

50/50, what do you think of Geno Smith?

(Please tell me you hate him so I don't have to second-guess myself)

Go kill yourself... Geno Smith is my preference for the Chiefs to draft.

Just how inbred are you?

Should Child Services be alerted?

If so, how will they know which reerun is you?

L.A. Chieffan 11-18-2012 02:34 AM

bowener 11-18-2012 03:16 AM

He's worth a look, but keep in mind that he's still reaping a lot of the benefits of Harbaugh's coaching and recruiting. He's not the first or last coach to be successful for a few years after an outstanding head coach leaves town. I'd consider it but would be very cautious.

The Bad Guy 11-18-2012 09:17 AM

He needs to be in the discussion.

Why is Shaw, 2 years removed from Harbaugh reaping the benefits of his coaching? Recruiting? Fine, but in the NFL, dollars recruit.

He's had NFL experience around some pretty good HC's. I take that as a positive that he coached under Harbaughs, and Gruden.

He's maintained the same toughness (I think they are actually a more physical team now).

I'd take him in a second.

CaliforniaChief 11-18-2012 09:32 AM

David Shaw:

Played under Bill Walsh at Stanford
NFL QB Coach
NFL WR Coach
Coached under Harbaugh/Gruden/Billick (as TBG said)
20-4 as a head coach
Helped develop/coach Andrew Luck

And for the purposes of the "true fan" old-timers who think everyone has to have a connection to KC, his dad was a coach for the Chiefs.

Coogs 11-18-2012 09:33 AM

I think he would deserve a look. They actually went into Notre Dame's house and beat them too. Doesn't show up in their win column... or Notre Dame's loss column, but everyone knows who won that game outside of a couple of people.

Dude deserves to be on the short list.

CaliforniaChief 11-18-2012 09:36 AM

I still lean towards Chip Kelly.

But Shaw would be strong, IMO.

Both of those guys on the short list from the college ranks.

CoMoChief 11-18-2012 10:53 AM

Chip Kelly.

Need someone that demands perfection on offense.

The sad SAD shit show we've seen since 2006 has to stop.

Mr. Laz 11-18-2012 11:00 AM

He is still running with Harbaugh's guys and system.

I wonder how much is him and how is just Harbaugh 'linger'

Last year I would have had those same concerns. Two years removed, not so much.

dunno ... he has done a fine job of maintaining.

Maintaining is not nearly as difficult as building

Hell maybe Shaw was the backbone for Harbaugh the whole time.

tk13 11-18-2012 11:10 AM

I figured people here would think he's too conservative. He's done a great job though. To shut down a Chip Kelly offense like last night is impressive.

He's won this year with an ineffective Josh Nunes.

Replaced him a couple of weeks ago with a redshirt freehman, and still winning.

Given the loss of Luck, the guy has done a stellar job of maintaining.

milkman 11-18-2012 12:06 PM

Another thing to consider is the fact that most of us, if not all of us, wnat to see this team recreate the hostile environment for opposing teams that Arrowhead provided in the 90s.

You do that by playing the physical brand of football that Stanford plays.

Fansy the Famous Bard 11-18-2012 01:33 PM

He's not afraid to replace a shitty qb.

That in and of itself should be enough to win hearts here in KC.
