Jon Stewart stepping aside

Jon Stewart leaving daily show.
http://www.ew.com/article/2015/02/10...ing-daily-show

Could he be getting into real news?

Pitt Gorilla 02-10-2015 07:03 PM

That stinks. Bring back Oliver!

bowener 02-10-2015 07:05 PM

NBC should contact him.

Maybe they already have?

DaFace 02-10-2015 07:11 PM

Damn - that's a long run. And that's a pretty major blow to Comedy Central after Colbert walked earlier.

RealSNR 02-10-2015 09:06 PM

Comedy Central should replace him with Paul Walker

I don't understand this.

That's too bad. It's a really ****ing funny joke.

He's dead. A dead guy is better than Jon Stewart. Jon Stewart sucks.

It was pretty damn funny.

Buehler445 02-11-2015 10:38 AM

IN B4 DC!

Direckshun 02-11-2015 11:00 AM

This is devastating, but it was time.

I really, really hope the new wave after Stewart/Colbert is as up to the task as they were.

Red Brooklyn 02-11-2015 11:52 AM

Bummer.

Oliver's show on HBO is outstanding.

Miles 02-11-2015 11:10 PM

Too bad but not all that surprising. Seems that after all these years some of the show has been losing a little steam in the past year or two.

PunkinDrublic 02-11-2015 11:17 PM

Love the way he skewers the media. He's been doing that show for a long time, he's been hinting for some time that doing the show was burning him out.

That seems like a pretty obscure and kind of outdated reference just to pick a dead guy when any dead guy could have been chosen.

I need to hear it from SNR, because that's not funny.

DaneMcCloud 02-12-2015 12:30 AM

I can't imagine doing a show like that for five years, let alone, fifteen. He's a very talented guy that has many more options, so I wish him well.

I think I've seen maybe five episodes during that run but he was good.

Not getting it either. Would expect that not to be the explanation.

DaneMcCloud 02-12-2015 12:40 AM

Craig Ferguson would be the best replacement, IMO.

I'm sure they'd have no problem moving the show to LA.

I'd like that a lot so long as they gave him some bit of freedom to do his thing.

BigRedChief 02-12-2015 01:01 AM

Need someone who is snarky but also at the same time not come off as an asshole.

I think Jason Jones or Jason with his wife Samantha Bee would do a fine job.

I would imagine that Comedy Central would give him a ton of leeway

I agree. I think the combination of his movie not being a hit, and Oliver's ratings going up while he was gone probably took a toll on him. He has lacked a lot of energy since he came back.

Pitt Gorilla 02-12-2015 02:07 PM

I assume folks on the right are thrilled.

No way they get the gig. They need a "name" to replace him. They already could have chosen them to do the summer gig and didn't.

If I'm a big name comedian, I'd be considering this gig.

Ferguson doesn't strike me as political enough for that job. I like the guy and its just a shame he is doing game shows. The late late show is a crap fest now. I always felt Craig was promised something like a shot at the late show when Dave retired. My guess is he didn't get so mush as a interview. I know a lot of guessing.

The game show thing strikes me as a temporary gig that Craig doesn't have to work very hard at. I'd be very surprised if he wasn't on something pretty prominent in a couple years.

Never watched it, no deal to me
