Your Favorite Watering Hole

Where do you go to get your drink on and socialize? Name your favorites here.....

Bowser 04-20-2013 10:55 PM

I've been on a 54th Street kick lately. Food can get a bit pricey, but their Long Islands are the poop. I like the one in Liberty over the one in Zona Rosa for some reason.

Do you make Joe buy your drinks from time to time?

Wouldn't that be the best story ever?

Topped only by "I once got busy with Adriana Lima in a LJS bathroom".

I second that.
One of the best dive bars in KC. CJ and Aaron are great.

How many of you have hit The Caddyshack? Opinions? Reviews?

And tell me more of this Gilhouly's....

Either/or, or both. As long as Digital Underground makes a song about it.....

angelo 04-20-2013 11:25 PM

Gilhouly's is at 39th and Bell.
Great juke box, decent pool table. Moderately priced drinks. Good neighborhood vibe. The bartenders vary and some of the girls are attractive or used to be. Although I did have one ask me how to make a Rolling Rock.

Heh. Did you give her the recipe?

Chachkies

Raiderhater 04-21-2013 12:27 AM

Breit's Stein and Deli on 5th St. in KCK. Very well priced. And they make a hell of a reuben.

SuperChief 04-21-2013 01:31 AM

Touche's. OP. Enough said.

ChiefsCountry 04-21-2013 01:34 AM

Columbia - Shiloh, Fieldhouse
Kansas City - Kelly's
Lake of the Ozarks - Bootleggers, Shady Gators, Topsider
Springfield - Boogie, Trolley's
St. Louis - Morgan Street, Big Daddy's

Pretty great. It is a semi regular hang out for me. Kind of a divish bar. It looks like trouble but its a really interesting crowd this is a mix of real blue collar type guys and service industry and folks and really just a mix of decent people.

Some people *love* the pizza whereas I think it is simply good. Decent tenderloin sandwich.

|Zach| 04-21-2013 01:38 AM

Depends on the crowd or mood or people I am with but generally...

Caddyshack
Grinders
Reiger Hotel + Exchange
Flying Saucer
Harrys Bar + Tables
The Brick...though I have sort of fallen out of favor with it.
Also The Jacobsen is newer and pretty great.

salame 04-21-2013 02:49 AM

Has anyone been to Bier Station?

bevischief 04-21-2013 03:59 AM

Buffalo Wild Wings.

Saulbadguy 04-21-2013 04:57 AM

I'm heavily invested in Old Chicago at the moment.

BlackHelicopters 04-21-2013 06:16 AM

Jimmy's Jigger when I lived in KC.

Egan's in Tuscaloosa is the best neighborhood dive bar I've ever been to.

http://ttownnightlife.com/wp-content...65-440x270.jpg

Anyone driving through Tuscaloosa for any reason needs to stop in for a drink. People love this bar so much that there's an anthology of writing coming out in a couple of weeks about it. (http://www.brianoliu.com/lod/)

Reaper16 04-21-2013 09:49 AM

When in KC, I'm generally always drinking at The Foundry or Flying Saucer.

KCUnited 04-21-2013 09:58 AM

Peanut Downtown although I'm rarely downtown much anymore.
Peanut on Main, Charlie Hoopers, and Mike's Tavern are my current rotation.

KChiefer 04-21-2013 10:07 AM

While I'm not form KC, here we have a hole-in-the-wall, The Brass Rail that's been open since prohibition was lifted and just across the street a casual sport's bar, Esquire, that has NEVER raised the price of their cheapest draft in their 40 years. They've recently started serving a pineapple marinated tequila that's nice to shoot though they've raised the price on those due to popularity, dang it.

Saulbadguy 04-21-2013 10:14 AM

KC - Swagger or "Flo's Poke a Dot Lounge"

HoneyBadger 04-21-2013 10:21 AM

How much do drinks run in the Midwest? I think it's a good deal when I get a jack and coke for $8

Fairly inexpensively, unless for some unknown reason you're drinking in the Chicago loop.

What's the range? I need to see if my local bars will price match.

$6-ish, generally.

I can get Long Islands for $5.95 at 54th Street, and they don't skimp on th ealcohol.

Good description. Haven't tried their pizza yet, but their Chicken Parm sammy is pretty freaking awesome.

A bunch of guys I work with end up there later in the night. It's been said that the Caddy is the safest bar in the city, if yaknowwhatImean.

I wish but unfortunately, I'm there at odd times.
Typically if I take off work early around 2-4pm.

Anytime after that, I'd have 2 kids with me.

Strongside 04-21-2013 02:55 PM

The Reiger/Manifesto
Harry's Country Club (Excellent bourbon selection)
Jerry's Bait Shop
Anton's Taproom
Flying Saucer
Mac's Sports Pub (9$ Long Island PITCHERS)
Llywelyn's Pub
Johnny's Backyard
Hickocks

Those are my local faves. If I had to choose just one, I'd go with Flying Saucer. Great beer selection and a fun atmosphere.

Saul Good 04-21-2013 03:39 PM

Tanners on 119th.

If you're a northlander, Boomers on Oak Street has cheap drinks every day

Phobia 04-21-2013 04:02 PM

Next Door Pizza is my spot. I enjoy it immensely.

DaFace 04-21-2013 04:03 PM

My kitchen is pretty nice.

crazycoffey 04-21-2013 04:05 PM

shady jack's saloon, Big Daddy's soulard (not on a weekend), and the one very local. Barney's is a decent option some nights.

Braincase 04-21-2013 04:06 PM

23rd Street Brewery in Lawrence. Within walking distance of the house.

Make that staggering distance.

mlyonsd 04-21-2013 04:09 PM

The Office. Several of us have weekly meetings there Friday's at 4.

Ah, Boomer's. Staggered out of there many nights. Not usually a bar I hit just for a drink, but the bar that's open late. Kind of like Caddyshack.

kstater 04-21-2013 04:32 PM

I like it because it's hard to beat 2.25 draws, and they keep the glasses cold enough I don't have to taste the cheap swill they fill them with.
