Will Shields Denied HOF
Didn't make the cut.
Jonathan Ogden and Larry Allen still under consideration. Curley Culp still under consideration. Damn. That sucks. |
NFL Network is now announcing the list of 2013 inductees right now.
|
Shocking
|
Here's the list of who made it:
Larry Allen Cris Carter Curley Culp Jonathan Ogden Bill Parcells Dave Robinson Warren Sapp. So Curley made it! |
Chiefs Defense Guys in the HOF from Super Bowl IV:
Buck Buchanan Curley Culp Bobby Bell Willie Lanier Emmitt Thomas Now need to get Johnny Robinson in there. |
I'd like to know how Ogden deserved it over Shields.
|
Too bad for Shields. One of the classiest to ever play. Hopefully he will get in next year.
|
I suppose inducting 2 Chiefs at the same time wasn't going to happen.
|
Damn.
|
Pretty similar resumes. Two get in on the first ballot. The other gets denied twice.
Will Shields - 14 seasons 12 Pro Bowls 8 All-Pro Walter Payton Man of the Year NFL 2000's All-Decade Team Jonathan Ogden - 12 seasons 11 Pro Bowls 9 All-Pro SB Champ NFL 2000s All-Decade Larry Allen - 14 seasons 11 Pro Bowls 7 All-Pro SB Champ NFL 1990s & 2000s All-Decade |
Also, Shields only missed ONE start in his career. During his rookie year.
Ogden missed a lot more. |
All about the SB, I'm afraid.
Can Sapp even afford to make the trip to Canton? I'm hearing that he's darn near bankrupt. |
Booooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
|
Two offensive lineman going in this year might hurt Shields' chances next year.
|
How the **** does Sapp get in on first year of eligibility?
|
is SB really the make or break for these guys that vote, come on lol
|
He's on TV a lot

Guys who play Guard who didnt play in Super Bowls dont go into the Hall much im guessing......

Think about it for a minute. Shields played all those years and the only playoff wins he got were in his rookie year. He played the rest of his career without a single playoff win. |
Sure, when all else seems similar, they need a tie breaker. However, Shields should have been in instead of either Ogden or Allen. They could have waited.
|
There has long been a Hall bias against guys who didnt play in Super Bowls and defensive players. It is what it is....
|
I was hoping Chris Carter never got in.
Hear a real ass to everyone. |
reerunedly, Ogden got in because he played on a SB winner. I never got the Ogden hype. I saw Freeney whip his cock ring off, the same Freeney that Roaf owned so thoroughly Dwight could have called him The Plantation.
Sapp was a HOF player, but he was a first ballot HOF because he ran his mouth. ****, I hate all major sports HOFs. Baseball is ruined by pious octogenarians who cum dust, a person can get in to the Basketball HOF for hitting a Free Throw during a halftime contest, and football's awards decent players on elite teams moreso than any other, even baseball. |

****ing shit goddammit cocksucking sons of bitches

If anything, Ed Budde was arguably a better guard than Shields; he IS a super bowl champ, and he's been passed over for 30 years. He should be in, as well as Otis Taylor.
Taylor is the biggest travesty. His snub is as bad as Buck O'Neil not being in Cooperstown. |
Parcells got in.
|
How in the hell does Curly Culp get in before Otis Taylor? Biggest shame among Chief players is no Otis Taylor.

Meanwhile, ****ing Matuszak came here and...left. |
I really don't have a problem with Allen and Ogden getting in over Shields since they were at the same time. Allen was always considered slightly above Shields as a guard, and Ogden was a tackle. Tackles are always considered better than guards. My problem with this vote is Sapp. Sapp was good, but Sapp wasn't 1st ballot great. Bettis, Shields and Haley (especially Haley) should be in before him. It's a joke that being a loudmouth talking piece for ESPN now gets you in the hall before others more deserving.
And dont get me started on his qualifications for a judge on BBQ Pitmasters. |

**** Sapp......he's not one of the best EVER to play his position ...at least enough that would warrant induction on his first time being eligible.
|
Who is Curley culp and have even 5 people on this board seen him play?
|

I saw his entire Chiefs career. He was a bad ass. Like Raji for Green Bay, only squatter, and much quicker. He was an NCAA Wrestling Champion at Arizona State, and a total bad-ass. You should pray that Dontari Poe becomes half the player Curley Culp was. |

Bettis only finished top-5 in rushing 3 times in his 13 year career. The last 5 years his highest finish was 17th. His career yards per carry average is 3.9. That's not HOF, that's mediocre. |

He could not blocked, and is big reason Buck Buchanon made such a big impact. |

Will Shields will get there sooner rather than later, i have to believe that, i would take him over Allen eight days a week, he wasnt a huge grizzly bear but his superb technique allowed him to dominate much bigger men, a fact that should have been recognized by the Hall.
His only flaw was being unlucky enough to play for a lot of bad to solid but inherently flawed Chiefs teams that were never nearly as glamorous and hyped as "Merica's" favorite team. The most important thing is that WE know what a dominant blessing of a rock he was in KC. Sapp? cant really say what hasnt already been said, it is completely undeserved at this point. Bettis? i gotta admit it, i'm a HUGE fan... LOVE the way he played ball, LOVED the fact that he was such a classy, team guy every step of the way. I totally disagree with the Eddie George comparison, he NEVER took a defenses heart and fired up his team in the same way as Bettis, not even CLOSE. Jerome routinely CRUSHED other teams star defenders, clowned them... yeah, you can argue some of the stats against other guys... but Bettis deserves to be there, he was a genuine force his entire career and was always pure class. |
My thoughts on Bettis were detailed years ago:
