I don't have much but it's all I need.
- Black Ovation Celebrity - Yamaha Stomp Box - Digitech looper that I loop shit through sometimes. Also allows for headphones. Downloadable drums, keyboards, what have you. I'm working with strings at the moment. Beautiful combination that I picked up via Sound City when Dave and that hot violin chick were playing together while they discussed 'feel'. Love that part and it inspired me. - Crate 120w head. Headed out soon I think. - 4x12 Jackson speaker box (rare) and is the loudest thing I've ever heard when turned up to 11. It's amazing. I've had this setup for a long, long time. Built up to it actually. |
Not mine, but just the same as mine

At that time [1987-1988], SA80s ran $4K and USA's ran $2500. I got mine as a display model for $1500. Nowadays, in good shape, the same saxes run 3500-4K for the USA and up to 6K for the SA80. Good investment. Treat her like a queen. The C-Star is a great mouthpiece, runs around $150. I also have an Adjust-O-Tone, which can be wonky, but also can produce some great timbre. It has a lever that slides a piece in the barrel that changes the mouthpiece chamber for different tonality. |

I'm on the road for work so I can't post pics, but the gear I've kept from my playing / touring days are - (I'm lefty FYI):
I don't have any amps anymore because I don't play out anymore, but I used Positive Grid Bias / JamUp on my iPad (PA direct) when I filled in for my buddy's band. Sounded great. |

I love the sound of those huge Gibson humbuckers on a bass. One of the best sounding bass rigs I ever heard was a T-Bird through an Acoustic 360 rig back in the late 70s/early 80s. We had a little rock band with songs on the radio. We were so full of ourselves. Dinny |
I have a schecter omen 6 and a Cort parkwood acoustic and I can't play either of them worth a damn

S101 is Mexican owned, Chinese made brand that makes fairly decent Gibson and Fender knock-offs. A buddy gave that one to me. |

I've been slowly getting back into playing guitar. My current set up is a Fender California Series Strat with Lollar pickups, and a Tone King Imperial.
And I've been wanting a nice Telecaster-style guitar in the worst way. I don't think I can resist for very long. |

I got back into playing after a 25 year hiatus. Started playing in the church band about 6 years ago then joined a local jazz band. Forgot how much I love playing. Absolutely having a blast. Got to play jazz with both my kids. Still playing with mu daughter. Gonna miss playing with her when she goes off to college in a couple of years.

My 2011 Ibanez RG 7321 (think that's the model #) Seven string with Seymour Duncan Special bridge and SD '59 neck, 1999 Gibson Les Paul Special, Epiphone Les Paul, and Rogue acoustic POS. In the other pic, my band (minus drummer) setup for an acoustic show. There you can see my Fender acoustic and my Fender Mustang 3 amp on the right side.
And yes, my bass player has a Mesa Boogie setup. That thing is a beast. He could play Sprint Center with it. |
So Dinny, or any other upright players out there: know anything about Deuce bridges?
http://www.deucebridges.com/ Haven't read a bad review yet, or seen anyone selling theirs. |

Just bought a '88 MIJ Strat for $200. It needs a ton of work but I'm an ex-carpenter so it's nothing I don't think I can handle. These run in the $600-$700 range for a lefty.
So stoked to get started on it, not sure what color I'll repaint it in - any ideas? I was thinking candy apple red or a metallic black. |

If Alder, I'm partial to Seafoam Green or Sonic Blue. I just think those colors rock. If it's Ash, then Mary Kay. I played a 1993 Custom Shop Fender Strat with a Mary Kay finish and Fat '54's and man, I regret not pulling the trigger to this day. Here's one of my Strat's. It's a 1993 Custom Shop in a custom color (which didn't even have a name!). It's got a 10"-16" Compound Radius, Texas Special's, a Gotoh bridge and vintage tuners. I don't use it that much but it can be heard on shows like Pawn Stars, The Voice, Counting Cars and many more. It's a killer SRV sounding Strat. https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7406/2...e089b7da_z.jpg<script src="https://widgets.flickr.com/embedr/embedr-13042391d105417b63030cbdb647a705.js" async=""></script><script src="https://embedr.flickr.com/assets/embedr-loader.js" async=""></script><script src="https://widgets.flickr.com/embedr/embedr-13042391d105417b63030cbdb647a705.js" async=""></script><script src="https://widgets.flickr.com/embedr/embedr-13042391d105417b63030cbdb647a705.js" async=""></script><script src="https://embedr.flickr.com/assets/embedr-loader.js" async=""></script><script async="" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js" charset="utf-8"></script> https://flic.kr/p/HztAW6 |

It's an alder body and I definitely dig the idea of a the sonic blue with the cream / aged colored pickups. Just researched some pics and it looks pretty sharp. I love the way the pearloid compliments the green on your Strat. Is that a metallic paint? I've always wanted a compound radius neck on a strat, must make ripping through the notes that much easier once you hit the 2nd octave. Also, which amp is the logo-less one above the Ampeg? :D |

But enough about me, let's talk music instruments. That looks like it could be a real howler if you turn it up very far. I had an Ovation white Balladeer back in the 70s. It was from one of the first couple of years that they came out with them. It got stolen around '79 or'80. I really liked that guitar. Dinny |

It sounds absolutely gorgeous, but I don't actually play it. I play with it. I got it to upgrade the sound of our little orchestra. I don't know about Deuce bridges. I'm just happy the one on mine is adjustable. My bass player set it all up for me where it plays like buttah with no buzzes. Dinny |

Here is my holy grail. I just out a K&K Pure Sound floating bridge pickup on it a couple weeks ago......I SAW GOD!!!!
When I play this guitar and my bass player is playing the upright, they get that airy woody tone I hear on those old 78 RPM jazz records. You can almost hear the pops and scratches. 1936 Slingerland Songster. Wide fretboard and big chunky neck like a telephone pole. 80 years does wonderful magic to excellent tone woods. Maple back and sides. Adirondack spruce top. I have owned this guitar for 30 years, but it was unplayable until I found a luthier in Memohis that fixed it up for me a couple years ago. I currently reside in jazz chord nirvana. |

old photo..
Telecaster, Squier Vibe with American pick ups added in.. going to put some p90 pick ups in that baby soon.. probably change the neck as well |

Not very good pics, but this is the guitar that has been jilted by the Slingerland.
1991 Gibson ES 165 Herb Ellis. I got it used. It might have been a custom order due to the ebony fretboard and cherry red finish, but I don't know. It is early in the first year of the first year of production. These had a fatter neck profile and no Herb Ellis autograph decal on the headstock. I love this guitar, but it feels like I'm playing a mandolin after playing the old Slingerland. |

If you don't want to purchase a Mexi or Road Worn Tele, go the "kit" route with Warmoth or Allparts. Warmoth offers super high quality woods and necks but it's far from cheap. Allparts and Mighty Mite are more affordable but it could be hit or miss on the body. Also, if you desire lower action, make sure to get either a 10-16" compound radius neck or at least a straight 10" radius. That way, the strings will be level and far more playable. Keep in mind though when building you own, the necks usually require a level and dress. As for P90's, the Lollar's are the best I've ever heard. |
I just ****ed around for my guitar for 15 minutes. My chops suck. Instruments are alot of work for not alot of payoff.

I tried to learn right handed at first, but it just wasn't working for me. My first guitar was an old righty strat copy strung lefty though. |
