I don't have a link and didn't hear the interview, but a few minutes ago Danny Parkins on 610 reported that Dayton Moore stated Sal Perez could be out 14 weeks.

Basically, Soria had a shitty month early, dumped the cutter he had picked up over the offseason because it was not effective, and pitched the rest of the season at his career averages.

The cutter experiment failed horrendously, but at least he dumped it early.

Actually if you look at his month by month splits, June and the 5 IP in September were the only months he pitched to his career averages. He racked up some saves in July but still had a 3.86 ERA (after a crap last year his career ERA is only 2.4)

That is an extremely high sandbagged number. DM said yesterday that in a best-case scenario he could be ready in 4 weeks, but he'll more than likely be out 6-8 weeks.

Yuck.

14 months is a long, long time for a meniscus tear. If it ends up being that long there is something else wrong in that knee.

Yeah, that's a very long time. You could heal two ACL's in that time.

I think the surgery went well! /Donda West's doctor

cabletech94 03-16-2012 05:12 PM

had a double meniscii tear(s) repaired in october.

while the pain of the injury is well gone, pain from the surgery is still very noticeable to me.

granted i'm no athlete, and there's cartilage damage for me. but most of the advice that i was given said it should not be a big deal. i'm guessin' 6-7 weeks before his minor league/injury stint (which i believe is a given nowadays).

He's really old and Pena/Ramirez should be good enough to carry us over in the short term while Sal heals up. Ramirez is having a good spring.

JMO.

IK he's old but wouldn't mind some help to get through the missed time of Perez.

Doctors confirmed Sal needs 12-14 weeks. If thats just from the meniscus, he must have torn the hell out of it.
