With the money tied in Perez it won't be likely Hosmer and Moose will be able to be signed long term. I would look very hard into flipping Hosmer and Moose for some prospects when we are ready to compete.

Most people anywhere are fans of some team. I'm just speaking for me personally. I need a very personal, place-based attachment to be able to really love a team. There's only two teams in all of sports that I'm a casual fan of (Orlando Magic and Tottenham Hotspur), and I can't progress beyond casual-fan status with them because I have no connection to Orlando or London.

Just become a fan of natural disasters.

You know, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes, locust plagues, that sort of thing.

It's not as crushing as being a Chiefs or Royals fan, but it's close.

We can now stand down from panic, the Royals confirmed what we were thinking. Meniscus tear, he needs surgery. However, if thats all it is, he'll have some rehab ahead of him, but we are probably looking at him missing a few weeks or a month, no biggie. If we really want to be ultra-paranoid and careful, maybe not until May. If he's out till closer to June or into July, then there was something else going on.

First round of cuts announced, we'll be down to 46 players tomorrow.

8 players have been sent to minor league camp: Odorizzi, Dwyer, Montgomery, Sisk, Smith, Julio Rodriguez, Myers, and Orlando.

In addition to that, Adcock and Verdugo have been optioned to AAA, and Arguelles has been optioned to AA. We carried Adcock last year as a rule V, I'm guessing we'll now let him see if he can be a starter in Omaha.

My initial though was that he knew he had a serious injury and signed the contract because of it.

The Royals have just locked up Alcides Escobar.

4 years, plus 2 team option years, both of those options would be for free agent years. That would take him through 2017.

edit: The 4 guaranteed years are worth $10.5MM. If both options are exercised, they would add another $11.25MM.

So, potentially 6/21.75MM, for an AAV of $3.625MM

edit2: If for some reason Escobar gets hurt or goes to hell and we don't want the options, we'd have to buy them out at $500K each. So, if he breaks his neck tomorrow, we'd be paying a minimum of $11.5MM over the next 4 years.
