Keitzman keeps talking like this gmdm to Atlanta thing isn't over and the Glasses and gmdm aren't on the same page. Anyone hearing anything

Kietzman has a vendetta against the Royals, probably from when his station got dumped by them. He also thought the Royals would never win because they had too many Latin players/stars. He's an idiot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Gordo wins 5th Gold Glove
Hoz wins 4th Cain, Salvy in top 3, didn't win (Buxton, Maldonado win) |

Ah well. Gordo with a deserved win and Salvy with a surprise loss, considering how much the voters love the legacy guys. Speaking of legacy wins, congrats to Hosmer. |
Of the 9 QO's given. 5 were on our World Series' teams

Anybody go to the garage sale today? Although given what I've seen on Twitter it looks like you had to wait in line for hours if you weren't there before sunrise. Thousands and thousands of people.

Pure speculation here, but it's an article where an anonymous baseball expert predicts contracts for this year's free agent class. Predicts Hosmer at 7/$165, Moose at 5/$92, Cain at 4/$68, Minor 4/$32 million. |

Yes. He hasn't been perfect, but he has done a tremendous job in convincing Glass to invest funds. There's something to be said for stability. All the "he's mad at Glass!" Stuff was premature. Maybe he is... and maybe he told Glass not to worry about clearing him to talk with the Braves. Based on what I have been told about his feelings towards next year, I would bet on the latter. Quote:

Yikes! I had no idea how serious that was for Ned.

I fractured my pelvis in 3 places once. I pretty much laid in one place for 6 weeks and tried not to sneeze. I was 20, couldn't imagine it as an old man.

How quickly can Ned possibly recover from such a dramatic injury?
|
Listening to Ned on 610 right now. Had he not had his cell phone, he’d have bleed out. 7 to 8 units of blood used. Dr said he crashed on the table. 0nly 20 to 30 percent of accident like this survive.
He sounds fine and will manage. Although 2 months in a wheelchair before even crutches. This dude...... |
Tough sob.
|
I'm just glad he didn't call Soria, because he's not too good at stopping the bleeding.

Can we please lock this thread for, oh I don't know the next seven years?

Rany has the chance of retaining Hosmer at 25%. Seems high.
|
It looks like we got the 36th overall pick for the competitive balance round. We could have 5 picks in the first 50. I still don't have much faith Dayton and co. can find the right guys or that our minor league system can successfully develop them.
|
Thought this was kindof an interesting take on Hosmer. Granted, I'm not vested in him and it mirrors my position but it may also be a little bit of salve for Royals fans in the likely event he leaves...
https://www.101sports.com/2017/11/16...on-vs-reality/ The thesis: Quote:
Heyward was obviously a gamble lost and Hosmer appears to be in a similar territory to me. |

Oh, I think he will, and I think the Royals could better allocate the overall funds it would take for him (unless they really can afford to sign both Hosmer and Moustakas), but I think Carlos Santana is an interesting comparison for Hosmer. Santana has definitely benefited from playing in a great park for LH power while Hosmer has played in a park that saps power. What would Santana's numbers look like playing at Kaufman Stafium full time? Well, over the past five years, the ESPN HR tracker shows that 25 of Santana's HR would not have left the K. Many of them would have been routine outs in right field. If you convert all of those to outs , Santana looks much different. He'll, just converting 15 makes him look a ton different. The defensive first base metrics are also totally ****ed. I don't care what the stats guys say, if they can say something SO different from what all the scouts and players see (which is that Hosmer is an excellent defensive first baseman, particularly adept at scoops, stretches, and catches outside his normal radius, with quick feet and the ability to adjust), there's something wrong. He definitely has some risk associated with him. I laugh a little when I see articles speculating that Hosmer could be convinced to change his swing to hit more fly balls (good luck with that. Better convince his brother the professional fireman to do it, or it isn't happening). Those are just things that stand out from the counterpoints Miklasz presented. That said, I'll take the 32nd pick in the MLB draft, and what I can buy with the 6-7 years of $21 million a year (for starters, I'm thinking Carlos Gomez and Logan Morrison on 2-3 year deals). |
2018 Offseason Repo is posted. I'll get to Prospects soon, probably over the holidays.
